      Cases that are both cheaper and run VASTLY better (colder) with less gimmick features;
      O-11 Dynamic
      O-11 AIr
      Thermaltake View 71
      Thermaltake View 32
      Corsair Crystal 570 (PSU shroud, but achieved good thermals)
      Cougar Panzer G
      Fractal Meshify C
      Silverstone RL6
      Actually... it would literally be shorter to list the cases that perform worse than this case... An added benefit is these cases come with proper SSD mounts that won't' snap off your SATA pin connectors if you close the case too fast on accident. This case is a joke of gimmicks and cheap ideas with poor engineering. Look at the top vent design, without any passive air in the sides or the bottom of the case the GPU is re-circulating hot air and probably forcing it to go upwards into the CPU hence 90 fucking degrees on the GPU! NINETY DEGREES!? Are you saying they Nailed it? Nailed what, killing your framerate in games and making your card wear out faster?
      The front fans are likely re-circulating the air from the GPU and the GPU's hot thermals try to escape the case but can't because of t a ridiculous PSU Shroud and lack of passive air escape thus why not only the GPU is damn near 30 degrees hotter than cases that are $100 USD cheaper and with MORE features... but the CPU is extremely hot as well! I am on a Thermaltake Chasker MK-1, a 6 year old case, with thermals on an R9 290x which is FAR hotter than his card...
      CPU 41c
      GPU 58c
      This is what I get on load. Gaming you ask? No no, my friend, on rendering. I am a game developer and do a ton of heavy rendering and with 6 SSD/HDD drives, proper rubber grommets, and good airflow I am getting less than he was getting on a gaming load... And I paid $120 LESS when this was new!

    Still prefer the Fractal R6 just wish it had the meshify front panel, the temps in this case look horrible and I know I’ll be in a minority but I wish they’d focus on airflow instead of rgb and fancy brackets on the business end.

      Im not even sure if the r6 is even better in airflow by default ofc. Plus i cant agree iwith you designwise esepcially because iin my opinions the r6 is just ugly. It doesnt really look appealing.I just looks like a pc in an office. But yeah thats ur opinion.

    • @flaviusseverus8507
      @flaviusseverus8507 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel being in a minority myself seeing all those "great airflow/temps" reviews about Define C and R6, but being the owner of the former I really hate how much the front panel harms the airflow and temps despite how easy it's to build in it and how nice it looks. It sucks you can't buy optional mesh front panel (especially without angular design) and have to switch to Meshify C, which doesn't improve temps that much either though.

    • @joer8854
      @joer8854 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Horrible case IMO. No airflow and the mounting for the radiator is in the position with the worst airflow. If your going to make a white case paint the interior white since cases like this are to show of the interior as well as the exterior. Poorly implemented cable management. All style no function and they even got that wrong.

    Those temperatures are uncomfortably high for a tower this big. I love a lot of the features of new cases, but I think that the removal of air intake on the front panel is stupid.

    • @ErgonomicChair
      @ErgonomicChair 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Its the power supply shroud combined with awful engineering all around. The only passive air sinking is at the top which makes the hot air literally have to raise all the way up the through the case against air resistance, the back looks heavily restricted compared to competitors. The front is starving for air on a case that already puts a bigarse sheet of metal just 3 inches away from the GPU.
      Don't buy anything with a fucking PSU shroud unless Gamers Nexus has approved it. Cases that are both cheaper and run VASTLY better with less gimmick features;

    • @ErgonomicChair
      @ErgonomicChair 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      No, that would go to Gamers Nexus. Gamers Nexus is very much unbiased about their reviews and they do COMPREHENSIVE testing on thermals. There are a few other sites that do that too like bit-tech which are great but they drop the ball on a lot of their case reviews because they only seem to temperature test certain ones. But by far Gamers Nexus is the best of the case reviewers.
      Plus... look how cheaply implemented this cases features are, that SSD door is going to totally snap someones pins off.

  • @flaviusseverus8507
    @flaviusseverus8507 6 ปีที่แล้ว +98

    GPU temps are too hot and means the airflow is highly restricted again. That's bad modern trend with a lot of otherwise nice cases these days.

    • @adcbot9435
      @adcbot9435 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The trend right now is actually to have high airflow cases. And Phanteks did sorta do that, the temps are still too high for me but they at least tried by making the panel gaps larger and having larger cutouts for air.

    • @flaviusseverus8507
      @flaviusseverus8507 6 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      If airflow was good, temps would've been much better too.

    • @christopherfortineux6937
      @christopherfortineux6937 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Airflow isn't going to be solved till they take that panel off the front and throw it in the trash. Heat issue is caused because a front panel on a case causes a heat vortex where the front fans actually end up just pulling heat from the cpu and gpu into an endless cycle of pulling the heat back into the case.

    • @ErgonomicChair
      @ErgonomicChair 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      For some reason his 1080FTW card is always hot, doesnt matter what case he puts it in, his CPU as well, if you go look at some of his other case builds they are super hot in those too.
      Something wrong with that cooler on his 1080ftw I would say, it shouldnt go past 84c, the throttling temperature of the card.

  • @stalkholm5227
    @stalkholm5227 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    90°c on the GPU in stock configuration means this is not going to be a $199 case, it's going to be $199 plus-the-cost-of-supplemental-cooling case, unless the user is going to take the front panel off entirely, but even then 85° is still a bit warmer than I'm comfortable with... Well, more than a bit, actually, if I was getting those temperatures I'd be tempted to take off another panel.

    • @ErgonomicChair
      @ErgonomicChair 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not just the front panel, you would need to cut a hole into the PSU shroud and then ventilate the PSU shroud because its so friggen massive. The PSU shroud, and lack of passive ventilation except for the top literally are going to hot box this case, added with the fact those fans are probably pulling hot from inside the case and recirculating it.

    • @flagmuffin1221
      @flagmuffin1221 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah, so you're saying that this isn't even a $199+Fans case, this is a $199+(Complete custom water loop) case! You can see why a preview that made no mention of water cooling, and only featured air cooled components, would leave me with the misunderstanding that this case was made for, or at least could be used for, air cooling. My bad. Yes, I'm sure this will be "The Perfect Case!" for people making high end water cooling builds in which expense is not a factor. A very fully featured PC case, assuming you're not looking for any of the features it's missing, like air flow.

    • @flagmuffin1221
      @flagmuffin1221 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean, it's not really missing airflow. I looked at a Tom's Hardware review of the 1080 and 1080Ti, and they ran at about 85C regardless of being in a case or on a test bench apparently, so...I don't know about you but a case with only it's stock fans at 87-90C? Doesn't seem that bad to me.
      In your original comment you said "90C on a GPU in stock configuration" - who in their right mind runs any case or system in a stock, out-of-the-box configuration these days? Even if you're not watercooling, you're going to be installing a CPU cooler and your own fans that you like. These aren't realistic temperatures because it's not the norm to leave a case as is when you build a system in it.
      It's fine to have reservations about what you think might be a flaw in the design, and I respect that, I can see where you're coming from. But at least wait for a more realistic example.

      Actually... it would literally be shorter to list the cases that perform worse than this case...
I want to plug in my headphones in the front but most cases have the ports at the top which causes the wires to dangle downward causing a bend to form near the plug. I have not seen many cases with jacks on the bottom and most of the cases that do don't appeal to me. It would be great if Phanteks gave you the option to move the 'port module' to the bottom and flip the front panel around.

Those temperatures are absurdly high, especially considering that this is basically just an official adoption of fan mods for the Evolv ATX. I see no reason for existing owners to upgrade, they can buy parts from ModMyMods to get the same effect. The "new" features are not actually new; putting a sliding door over an existing hole isn't impressive to me.

    The new Evolv X from Phanteks promotes user experience and usability for a cheap price. A company like Corsair or NZXT would price this at $400+. The Evolv X annihilates competitors at the same price range. I believe this is the PC case that will push a hard evolution of cases, with companies who do not improvise their designs greatly will simply be ignored. I am very excited to buy this case for my build. At first, I planned on buying the NZXT H700i, but after seeing this, I realized that the H700i is a piece of overpriced trash. In my opinion, Phanteks is an amazing company and deserves way more attention which will hopefully be achieved. When I first saw the Evolv X, I was speechless. The only think Phanteks could improve on is including a system with the case 😂. BTW, Dmitri is a Russian name, are you Russian?

      Don't buy anything with a fucking PSU shroud unless Gamers Nexus has approved it. Cases that are both cheaper and run VASTLY better with less gimmick features;
      O-11 Dynamic
      O-11 AIr
      Thermaltake View 71
      Thermaltake View 32
      Corsair Crystal 570 (PSU shroud, but achieved good thermals)
      Cougar Panzer G
      Fractal Meshify C
      Silverstone RL6
      Actually... it would literally be shorter to list the cases that perform worse than this case...

      ...except for good cooling, at least out of the box. Those temps are really disappointing.

      Intrepidation most out of the box items could be improved. For me, I will use a lot of fans. Hopefully will be good.

    Best case brand... very little competition against Phanteks.

      i kind of agree with you. i just switched from the original phanteks p400 to the fractal design meshify c, and while i'm happy with the new case in general--love the look of it as well as the airflow potential--there are so many things about the much older phanteks case that were just...objectively better. the finish on the outside of the meshify c feels a little on the cheap side and includes some plastic where the p400 is all metal. the front panel/dust filter attachment system is honestly a pain in the neck.
      it just feels like the people at phanteks think of everything, and know how to balance features with a seamless experience in every price bracket, while other manufacturers make compromises.

      Terribly designed. They are not designed well at all. They are ridden with air flow problems.

      I personally like Fractal Design more. I still have their Define R6 from last year’s review and it is still the best case I’ve ever seen.

      ErgonomicChair Well this case has improved on thermals and still has the best build quality of any of the cases you mentioned.

    Definitely getting this. While it is expensive, it will be upgradeable far into the future. Also, I gotta admit, the fact that you can put another system into a mid-tower! Holy moly!

    No 5.25", no side intake, no airflow; hard pass. Variant without dumb glass doesn't exist either, eh?
    Can appreciate three-slot vertical mount though.

      Paweł Czarkowski I miss 5.25” slots. If Der8auers lianli cases had one they’d be perfect

      I feel as if this case is built to look stunning which it does do very well. I think it would be very difficult to make something look so clean and yet have airflow as if it had mesh on the front.

      Marco Huerta I have a touch screen fan controller that’s been collecting dust for 3 yrs. it’s nice to be able to monitor all my temps while having it off screen. And being able to ramp up my fans or slow them down without having to alt tab to software is nice too.
