Okay really liked the video.. but a few points of contention.. It's Mahogany .... not plywood, It's a ukulele bass so yes it's hollow .. (it's a ukulele), strings are round wound I believe.. the Venetian cutaway is not typical of ukulele but does allow easier access to the lower frets. The nut is Tusq not plastic.. pretty good stuff... the F holes are a step away from tradition as well. Rosewood bridge.. It's definitely a quality piece .. upper middle of the Kala Line.. Premier would be something like the Striped Ebony .... they make in Teak, Bamboo, Maple etc.. a few in the line have great acoustic sound without an amp as well. Last but not lease...it's a flippin Ukulele Bass.. I mean how fun is that !! lol
Cheers for clearing some of that up. It's certainly a nice bass, does the job I need it to do which is great. It's certainly one of the best UBasses I've played! Thanks!
Dude, is that an Alembic just casually hanging out in the background next to a Warwick thumb? Your collection is legendary man
Hey man, indeed it is! Ah appreciate that! I never anticipated a collection like this in all fairness, it's just sort of happened over the years...! Cheers man! Have a good one🤘🏼
An Alembic? George is slowly buying ALL the Alembics, at least the cool ones anyway!
Just wait for next week, I may have acquired the coolest yet...! Cheers!
Super Nice tone! What strings are you using here?
I also want to know about the strings. They sound great! Please let us know what they are.
Hey, thanks so much. All I know is that they are flats? I wish I could help but in the original ad they weren't listed. I'll have a guess at Kala standard Ubass flats. Sorry that isn't much help!
I figure this one is an inch or two too long (as well) to be taken on board, please correct me if I'm mistaken.
Thanks for the feedback! I'll keep that in mind for future videos!!
I have flown with mine. No issues. It fits into any baritone uke case.
Fixed bridge =HELL! Intonation problems will be nearly unsolvable. Put your money in instruments which can be set up easily!
Thanks for comment, however I must state a few things.
I bought this as a practice bass initially, as I'm unlikely to take a nice, costly instrument to anything other than gigs.
Secondly, it was purchased for 'roaming' band situations which it's perfect for. I didn't want a full size acoustic guitar type bass. No need or want for them.
Thirdly, it's intonation is actually pretty decent below the 12th fret. I think it's one of the more high end of Kalas' Ubass range - check it here th-cam.com/video/fTkMcApi0Dw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=8lPgXreSGKtGYcpe
And lastly, the bottom frets are where the money is. Granted the intonation after the 12th fret is a bit unpredictable but i don't play up there for that reason anyway!
It was also a cheap second bass so I'm not too fussed. Cheers though, i agree with your comment!
