To many people assumed that because there was a microSD slot on the OG Ally that it was intended to run all games off of as additionaal storage. Its intended for storing files, small games (emulators) and transfering games to the SSD. I also heard that running games on the microSD card and setting it down on the table (cutting off the vents) was causing overheating on an overused microSD. If you want more storage on this device, the best solution Ive found is to replace the SSD with a larger one and then use the old one as a portable and plugin SSD storage for other games you play less often. Overall I wish that the Ally X had options for more storage from the store.
I hate that every handheld is copying the xbox style with the right joystick lower down making it awkard to hold. The steam deck and playstation have them symmetrical which is a lot more ergonomic for some people.
Xbox layout is the best for gaming , its not random invetion its science, and if you want to play with ally on your tv screen you connect it to your Tv and use real xbox controller , controller layout stays the same .
It’s all preference but if I had to choose one it would definitely be the symmetrical thumb sticks as I prefer that much more. Which is why I love the PlayStation controllers over the Xbox controllers .
This is kinda too little too late. This should have been the first model. Now that all the other handhelds are cheaper on the second hand market, why would I buy this over a legion go? Yeah the extra ram and bigger battery is cool, but the performance increase is negligible.
@@VladGamingTechWorld Asus already lost a lot of consumer confidence, because of how they handled the original ally's defects and the overpriced xg mobile only egpu option. This refresh is a slap in the face to all their early adopters. I was originally about to buy a 1tb z1 extreme off ebay for $450 until I saw all the bad sd card videos.
I have to remind that it's Asus. Asus don't care about stuff they sold you once you bought it. My experience with Asus and their quality "standards" was horrible, thay can ignore broken cooling system that scratched as hell where it's should be connected with CPU and GPU, but you can see a canyon in heat-pads and deep canyon on CPU like someone took a screwdriver and smashed CPU with this screwdriver. Asus service centers are horrible, they will do everything to not fix your gadgets and if they break it - they will say "it wasn't working when it came". Horrible company and i was thinking about handheld, and Asus Rog Ally X is good on a paper, but if something breaks - its dead, and good luck with Asus that will ask 1600$ to repair Asus Rog Ally X that new one costs 800$.
My og ally died all off a sudden....doesn't power on or take charge....im like wtf.....and i was bashing Chinese manufacturers like ayaneo, gpd etc....none of those devices died yet lmao....i hope they fix it for me..... proper failure 😂
@@liviup6660 i wish you will be lucky and they will repair it for you. I wasn't that lucky when was working with Asus on my job and in personal usage. I wish they will help you!
Gaming laptops suck they are not that portable. 1.Heavy weight 2.They are large 3.they must always be plugged in for gaming 4.charger is large 5.must always be on a table All these makea it just a little mor portable than a stationary gaming PC so at that point just buy a stationary gaming PC for the better value
@@Exodia_Misogynist i would much rather have true portability than stationary power. I would much rather buy a smaller desktop than a laptop seeing as they are allmost as portable
Subscribed. I bought the Ally X and love it. Thanks for the review. Hope your channel grows.
I appreciate the support. Thank you!

@@mg13-r3s It has the worst layout ever. My left thumb isn't longer than my right smh
XBox invented the best controller from day one. PS controller sucks balls
I’ve used both throughout my whole life and there’s no difference

$800 is not a steep price for what it can

It all depends on what you’re looking for as well as budget.

Gaming laptops are bulky. Being able to play AAA games in handheld at a great frame rate and with VRR is the future
