    Once you have watched the video leave any feedback, ideas or opinions you have down below!
    Combat Patrol and everything to do with it (Rules, Datacards, Savings etc.) are going to be a big part of the channel in the coming weeks.
    So, if you have an opinion on how you'd prefer me to handle this, let me know!
    I still plan to do individual datacard reviews, talk about future releases, and cover any topics that I see mentioned a lot!
    For example, the starter sets are rumoured to go on pre-order on the 8th of July and release the following Saturday!
    We are definitely going to talk about them in detail once we have the price and more information.
    Thanks for watching!

    More combat patrol would be appreciated :)
    Would like to have all info on one box in one longer video.
    And Battlereports would be cool!

    Subbed. Have kids now so no time for massive 2000pt games but smaller games good. Very interested in more about combat patrol/boarding actions.
    Did you play some of the "smaller point" boxes like Death Guard or Imperial Guard etc? How did they play?

    • @EmpireofWargames
      @EmpireofWargames  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I played the Death Guard one and it was decent! While Plague Marines are not that impressive, Poxwalkers do a lot of heavy lifting when it comes to objectives and Typhus is incredibly scary, even without his psychic attack. I only played two games with the DG combat patrol so far though, so a bit more testing is required. There are some subtle changed I would have liked to see for this Combat Patrol that I am going to cover in their respective video. Thanks for subscribing and watching!

      @@EmpireofWargames awesome. I saw in one of your other videos you mentioned you are looking to review the combat patrol boxes including how they play in game so will look forward to your uploads

    Here's my take: Combat patrol maps and missions are 100% welcome. The very basic fundamental thing.
    However all the rest is flawed, considering current boxes are retrofited into this new mode which obviously results in inbalances. GW promised bespoke datasheets but in the end the vast majority of them are nearly identical with the only difference being weapon options and some abilities removed in an universal way, which points to simplifying the mode for begginers rather than balancing it (as was promised).
    We know about 10th balance issues, and they apply just the same in this mode, a faction like Admech got abilities removed all the same as the top tier factions so the playing field wasn't leveled, it still retains the same peaks and valleys, and then some boxes have so many points that GW had to add "chose X or Y unit" which inherently advantages certain boxes with more options, wereas those with single unit options can't even select which double-kit to use (say, Breachers instead of Destroyers).
    Likewise Stratagem balance seems all over the place just like the main game. Secondaries are at a worse state, while the main game offers the same ones for everyone, in this mode you can get very screwed (again I point to Admech as the prime example) or very blessed - this is a step back.
    In the end I'd rather use Combat patrol's missions/maps and ditch everything else. Even a newbie can manage to chose 500 power lev- errr "Points" of units (or just buy the combat patrol box), which would retain their abilities making the transition for the full game easier (no unlearning to do), and balance wouldn't be any worse, as the current Combat Patrols haven't made it any better anyway. Stratagems can be the same as full game, and secondaries too by simply dropping the handful of ones that wouldn't work in this small size.

    I have played 5 games so far, all involving GK whether I or my friend is piloting them. Despite being great in regular 40k they are objectively underpowered in combat patrol. You have a very limited number of bodies (3 units) and the librarian effectively does not have any reliable shooting and is simply one body to distract/deepstrike. Interested to hear any other people's thoughts on GK in combat patrol whether playing with or against them.

    I want new recruit boxes etc... They are great value. But I'm concerned that the shift will be towards combat patrols, GW could just say combat patrols are the new entry point, either keep the rules "for combat patrol only" online for free, or put a pamphlet with the rules in the box, and just update the box contents for balance when the factions codex comes out.
    Considering you could get a box of necron warriors in the recruit edition for less than the cost of the box individually, I was hoping to get some termagants for cheap.

      I am not 100% sure how GW is going to handle their starter boxes for 10th edition, but I think they would make a mistake not to have a cheap little box with 2 units and 2 leaders just to learn the absolute basics of the game.

    I think 10 games may not be enough for an actual study of the format but sufficient enough to have a grounded opinion on the matter. Looking forward to more Combat Patrols!
    edit1: now i am curious as to how the really "Bad" boxes will work. Like DG or 1k Sons. Scratch that, CP DG might be good, am just sad Typhus forgot how psychic works. XXD

    • @EmpireofWargames
      @EmpireofWargames  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That was exactly my approach for this video. 10 games is not a lot, but enough for a first impression.
      Yeah I actually tried the DG Combat Patrol already and its surprisingly decent. No idea what to think about TS yet, I need to play more games with their Combat Patrol.

      Im in a combat patrol league ATM, and Deathguard is quite decent. I'll update once it's done entirely, but being smart with reserves actually makes them kind of strong. Ive been reserving 1x pox unit and then Typhus and his pox unit, while deploying the others behind cover and sort of waiting it out till turn 2. The PM's shred any non-custodian infantry, but die equally as fast against anything with remotely good shooting, so the stand out is Typhus. I think he is straight up one of the single best units in the entirity of Combat Patrol, alongside the Ghostkeel and Drukhari Ravager. He just kills anything he touches. But agreed with you that I still wish he had his psychic...

    Is the chaos start collecting box with the master of possession useable?

    Would it be so hard to release a derachment for the "old" tyranid combat patrol?

    • @EmpireofWargames
      @EmpireofWargames  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not at all, but I think GW had to prioritize and they wanted all the attention to be on Leviathan and the Tyranids in there ! I am actually planning to write rules for additional Combat Patrols! I would be a cool change of pace and would give me an opportunity to design new lists and test them.

      @EmpireofWargames do share! I got the old tyranid box for a friend for his birthday to lure him into 40k. It can't be used for combat patrol, if he build the warriors differently he can run them in kill team but not bighammer. Once a proper tyranid kill team comes out, the whole box will look like a joke gift. Work with me here GW!
