Good video. I have 2 different types of factory planet. 1 is running 3 High-Tech factories, with 18 Advanced making the necessary P3 to feed them. That's 6 Advanced per input. The other setup runs 1 High-Tec with the associated P3 & 1 small P2 setup. Both have the P2 being made on other planets to feed the P3 factories. I don't extract anymore, to preserve my sanity.
Hey mate, great video! Can I clarify one thing? If the ratio is 1 - 1 - 0.5 - 0.25 for T1 - T2 - T3 - T4 refineries respectively, then why you have only 3 T3 refineries? As I understand, you have 4 extraction planets x 6 T1 refineries = 24 T1 refineries (not counting the extra 7th for simplicity), and you need 12 T2 refineries (which is what you're showing in the video, 6 + 6 on the sides), so you should have 6 T3 refineries to run them efficiently without having too much unused T2 materials? I'm currently trying to figure out how to make a T4 planetary and this calculation thing drives me insane, trying to figure out how much planets/refineries you need across all the characters is way to hard haha Thanks for the answer!
For t3, you need 2x the material a t2 factory outputs, and they both have 1 hour cycle times. So you need 6 of a t2 factory to supply enough for a continous t3 production, for each of the t2 materials
Links are excessive especially after they halved the m3 of all PI materials. Might be able to fit more factories if they are reduced to the minimum required. Still a better setup than a lot of other ones I've seen in videos.
Yes, you could probably fit more but I also did not do all the minmaxong with the max amount of jumps materials can travel in p3/4 planets, this is just for convenience. And with those numbers, you are sustaining exact numbers of factories needed to keep going, nothing less, nothing more
So my PI setup, I have 4 planets, each producing a t2 for fuel blocks. I might switch 1 or two to this approach and see if I cant do the same thing with less planets or just more efficiently. Thanks!
I have 19 characters producing PI. The issue that I would have with your setups are that I am producing so much P1 that I would not be able to process it into the higher level P2 fast enough. Like you, P0 gets directly turned into P1. My P2 and P3 factories have 2 launch pads, 2 storage containers and 22 factories. My P4s have 3 launch pads, 3 storage containers and 9 factories. I set my extraction cycles to 1 week. With that many characters, resetting the extractors daily would be too painful and the volume is more than made up for by through sheer numbers. Remember, each account has 3 characters and if you are already paying for Omega, using those empty slots as PI characters is a great use of your slots and Omega. The SP to get started in PI is very low (about 2-3 small injectors gets you a decent epithal and ok starting PI skills). After 1 MCT you will have a good PI character, after 2 MCT's, you would have max skills. It is important to purchase 2 implants (Charisma and Memory I think.). You don't need a full set because most of the PI skills are covered with just 2 attributes. So PI is easy to scale, so long as you have the stomach for it. I am currently producing about 10b of PI per month.
I can imagine that at that scale and long extraction times you end up having to change it around. I made the setups for what I do and level I have experience in, and with bottlenecks, some of the extra mats I just excha ge between chars to keep them running smoothly
@@wayneyessir6350 Okay yeah, that's where my calculations last night brought me approximately. I DEFINITELY have to get into PI. I've been gas huffing to plex my accounts, and that's at least 30 hours of work a month. This would be maybe what, 30 minutes a day?
@@Madgod711 Well, first realize, i do it in Null, so i get better returns than someone would in High. As far as time per day. I usually spent about 1-2hrs a day doing 5-6 accounts. But obviously someone can break it up however they like. key is not to get burnt out. break it up into manageable chunks, even if you lose a little effeciency.
What kind of Profits are you making? I do PI quite differently. I avoid tax like the plague, The only time I use my launch pads is to send up my final materials. I make P2 materials on each planet. 6 different materials to diversify my portfolio so that all my eggs aren't in 1 basket. Never selling below 10k isk/unit I make over 23b isk/yr which easily plexes my accounts.
Honestly, I have not been checking the pure profits from my PI for a while. First character produces robotics, second all.of the p2 needed for fuel blocks, so I use it to maxomize profit margins on fuel production. Then third one makes organic mortat applicators for station production

Yep, there are many ways to make PI, one being buying stuff low and processing it into high tiers. As long as it prints isk, its nice :D
just remembered I had PI set up five months ago 😱
One month passes for that setup every week, eh? :D
Gonna start muscling in on your markets after this
You would if I was selling those mats, but most of it goes into industry :D
