    What is this mosque here for? Did Bach write his music for mosques? :))

    • @axelbauer4408
      @axelbauer4408 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That is a building in the castle garden of Schwetzingen (see the description of this video) that the prince-elector Karl Theodor had built in the years 1792-1796, a beautiful building in the style of a mosque, wich was very fashionable after the unsuccessful invasion of vienna by the troops of the ottoman empire. It also stood for the tolerance for other cultures and religions, since it is only one of several other buildings representing other cultures.
      Sokolov played this recording in Schwetzingen, close to this building.

      Calling him a "Genius'' is objectively correct, and f you fail to see/hear that, you clearly never traveled the full road of a piano student to become a professional pianist. The level of technical, musical and interpretational brilliance he displays here is near super human, and certainly exceptional...as for ''greatest''...I will grant you that that would be a subjective term indeed; But ''among the very greatest'' would certainly be factually correct...

      Genius is an understatement when referring to Sokolov. A new word needs to be invented to describe this man's ability. Sometimes referred to as 'The extra-terrestrial' because his playing is like nothing else heard before or since on planet earth. Perhaps 'extra-transcendental' would be an equally applicable description. He plays nearly the entire literature of the piano writing, from the Elizabethan era to the present day, perfectly and from memory. I am not aware of any pianist in the history of piano playing who comes even close.
