Yes, thanks for list of times. This sonata is a terrific discovery for me -- JSB fan since hearing the Matthew Passion in high school 55 yrs ago. Never ran across BWV965 before. And now for me Sokolov ranks right at top with Gould.
Maestro Sokolov is moving the keys telepathically without having to move his fingers as demonstrated in this video, this is the skill you'd eventually gain when you play the piano for over 50 years at sublime level.
So Reincke lived to a great age, knew Buxtehude and Lubeck, was often in Hamburg; and when Bach played to him remarked, 'I had thought that this art was dead'. a very, 'blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe' moment.
@@IvanGreindl I understand you objection and find it reasonable. From my point of view-I use the word in many of my comments and only comment where I think a performance is exceptional There are so many words one COULD use. However, exquisite can refer to a jewel, which in terms of musical description can mean exceptional. I think the word here for this strong performance is acceptable. In either case, I, too am somewhat particular about word usage so appreciate you perspective. Regards.

Watch videos which show him at the piano playing Mozart or earlier -- there used to be a vid of him playing thru a movt of Bach's Italian Concerto just informally, not in a concert. You learn a lot by watching his hands. But ultimately I think the secret is his intense musicality--ornaments are always fresh and different, never routine.
