    I love f23 sohc builds, damn cheap and easy to obtain also make power. Such a underdog I swear. I have a buddy building his f23 vtec sohc for 1000hp in his red crx. He's going to change the game like you sir.

    For beginners watching this video with minimal experience please send out your cylinder head to a machine shop to be resurfaced instead of using a wheel by hand. He may just want to clean the area but using a scotch bright pad with some degreaser should do the trick. Normally the combustion chamber where carbon builds up is the area you want to clean up but that requires finesse and anything aggressive could damage the valves or valve seats if removed.

      @cardudegarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The head was sent to a machine shop and got decked and everything we just cleaned up the block so it has a clean surface

      @@cardudegarageit shows you in the video on fast forward spending a bunch of time with a sanding wheel on the area you said was resurfaced by a machine shop. It's your motor you can do what you want but that clearly destroys the perfect tolerances you paid a machine shop to do. Especially on a turbo engine more prone to blow a headgasket. It's not like you were polishing the combustion chamber to help reduce detonation which would be beneficial. This may be your engine but if see a tuner or show doing something wrong you have to point that out it's bad misinformation especially for people learning from your video.

      I just rewatched the video and I did go over the deck of the head but I believe it was very lightly and quickly just clean it up some from sitting for awhile after getting the head decked from a machine shop

      If you show this video to any machinist that works on any internal combustion cylinder head and say you had it resurfaced and then later used a air powered sander to clean it up they would say the same thing....bad idea. If you post this video on the machinist section of Honda tech everyone would flame this video. The people usually watching your videos have a huge lack of knowledge based on the questions they ask and it would be horrible if they copied you. Would you recommend tuners to use a air powered sander to clean the head after paying for a perfect resurface, your smoking something. Especially on a engine that was never entended for boost that is prone to lifting the head. It's a recipe for disaster. If you were a perfectly calibrated cyborg robot then maybe it could work but watching you clean valves with a wire wheel and spinning valves in the valve seats with a gun shows your okay with hacking your engine. I'm hoping your build goes well, I've made mistakes tuning Hondas back in the late 90's because of lack of information and also misinformation but misinformation is much worse.

      Dude you build your cars and engines how you want and I'll build mine how I want I've built bunch of engines and never had problems with how I build them this car made over 300whp for 3 years without no issues until boost controller went bad and it boost spiked to 22psi and spun a bearing but like I said build how you feel and I'll build my own way to each there own

    Haha seeing that timing cover at the end brought back some memories I remember on my old civic I pulled the head to get resurfaced, I put it all back together with new gaskets/rod bolts etc. and the motor mount and everything on the timing side. The last thing I went to do was put that plastic timing cover on and I realized you have to have to take the motor mount back out and everything to put the lower half on lol.

      @@cardudegarage how much boost or hp has this motor handled? I'm in the middle of rebuilding my transmission and motor is next. I can't make up my mind on forged parts. All I want is 300whp. Motor is apart now. I got the head ported, a nice 5 angle valve job, skunk intake/throttle body, and full exhaust. I will be running an HY35 setup retaining the internal wastegate. I feel Like 300whp would be over the limitation of factory rods/pistons but I dont actually have any knowledge of real world examples of f23's power limitations

    What’s the copper spray on the head gasket used for?

      Heat transfer, also helps fill in the spaces that aren't flat. Especially with that air sander he surface smacked the head and block with lol

    I'm new to all of this and need some help with my build. I have a f23a3 accord and wanted to boost it what are the requirements for me doing that? Or going with the g23 setup is better? And what type pistons and injectors I should run. It's going to be a daily driver and I'm just looking to make about 350-400hp

    • @cardudegarage
      @cardudegarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      G23 are really time consuming to make work right and stock f23 with a new mls head gasket and arp head studs 750cc injectors and a walbro 255 you'll have enough fun with it and make close to 330hp depending on engine condition I recommend doing a compression test first
