  • I only had a week to drive the car after it was tuned and wasn't able to wire up my ECU switch in time to get any high boost runs on video. Sorry guys! I'll make plenty of high-boost videos when I come home, so subscribe!

    Thanks! I don't have a grand total for the motor specifically. I was very thorough and replaced all gaskets and wear items with new OE parts, and machined and checked all the big-ticket items, so I definitely didn't skimp on much.

  • @afaccord
    @afaccord  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The most common swap is an H22. It requires very little modification at all, and most everything just plugs right up. A stock H22 swap will usually make 165-170 wheel hp, over the 125 that your stock F22 makes. It's a decent improvement, fairly simple, and reliable, but no where near as fierce as turbo-charging the F-series that's already in your car.

    damn bro nice build so freaking good seeing some accords doin work out there congrats bad ass ride bro my fav accord body had a v6 like that

  • @afaccord
    @afaccord  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    It is an OE F23 throttle body, and it was bored by Maxbore in Florida. He only opened it from ~54mm to around 59mm, but obviously it doesn't take a 70+mm TB to make good power in a turbo setup. :)

  • @afaccord
    @afaccord  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I can tell you that I have at least $8,800 in reciepts over the past year, but that's everything from paint, bumper covers and splash guards, to donor parts like a new trans and alternator, to the entire brakes system, suspension bushings and of course the build materials and components themselves, so it's a bit all-encompassing. Mechanically, the car is practically new.

    Awesome build man, always good to see some F23 love. How does she drive at 21?

  • @afaccord
    @afaccord  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just 93 octane. The old belief that boost and high compression don't mix is no longer valid. There are a number of Honda guys running 13:1 and up with 20+ lbs of boost and no problems.
    I can think of one in particular with a 1.8l engine @ 13.5:1cr making over 350whp at something like 5 lbs of boost.

    Very nice build Sir, you put a lot of time and effort into this car and it shows how much you enjoy driving it. Great list of parts as well, I just wish my 98 Coupe wasn't winter driven it's whole life and had a body left that made it worth doing this much work to. But one thing you can count on, it's a Honda and it will run forever.

    • @afaccord

      Thanks. Yes, it's a blast to drive, but it has claimed hundreds of hours of my time to get there.

    That's an awesome build brother. I have a LS swapped EJ8 97 Civic coupe with a 63 trim T04e turbo on 10 lbs and it makes close to 300 to the wheels through a YS1 GSR cable transmission with a Innovative cable to hydro conversion kit. I'm running a Comp stage 3 six puck clutch and that thing grabs hard. Now all I need is a good Quaife or similar LSD diff and some sticky tires and I'd be someone. That's an awesome build though. Alot of money and good work under that hood. I've never seen a F23 throw out that much torque.

      +afaccord That's awesome to hear that you still have it. I see in the video that you're a mature adult so you wouldn't have traded it off for something much worse like kids tend to do nowadays. I'm happy to hear that I'm not the only adult that loves these cars for what they are. I love my Honda.

    • @majorkin19
      @majorkin19 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      the f23 has more torque than any other motor before them "don't quote me on this" it makes more torque than any other b,d,h,f series, that's why the g23 is such a dangerous hybrid. h22/23 head on f23 block with k series pistons , this motor kills any k series stock for stock

    Great video, that car moves. I know want to TC my 94 JDM F23 swapped accord. The HP/TQ numbers are what I'm looking for. I'm glad some people see the potential in these motors because swapping in a DOHC isn't everything. Nice job.

  • @afaccord
    @afaccord  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think in total, somewhere between $8,500 and $9,000 was spent, but what I'm left with is a chassis that's practically brand new in almost every way. All the work was done by myself at home; had any of it been done at a shop, the cost would probably have been doubled.

  • @afaccord
    @afaccord  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yep, that's what happens with straight piping and wastegate dump tube in a closed 6-bay garage. It has a vibrant stealth muffler on the exhaust now and is much quieter. Thanks for watching!

    I'm more of a grassroots kinda guy; I like building stuff with my own hands and choosing the parts and pieces myself based upon my own research and judgement. That's nice that you want to do something that's never been done before, but it's going to take far too much money to make the F23 produce that much power, and it won't be reliable in the end. If you do in fact reach your goal, I love to see it. You'd surely set a world record for torque produced from a Honda engine in the process.

    The F20B has it's uses, but for the weight of an Accord, it's going to take more than just a swap to reach its potential. The torque from larger displacement motor will be much more useful than high revs of a smaller motor in an Accord.

  • @afaccord
    @afaccord  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't have a specific total for the turbo setup. My goal was to completely restore the car, body, suspension, engine and all, so the whole process involved lots of details that most people skip over to same some money here and there. I bought a lot of parts to rebuild from scratch with OEM pieces like the transmission and brake setup.

    You won't find many parts designed for the F23, but if you look, you'll find that many F22/H22/H23 parts work just the same. You can see in the video's description that some of my parts even came from K-series motors.

    Ok. OBDI dizzy would move the CYP to the dizzy and off the crank, but it sounds like there's something else going on with your setup. I'm running NGK 4091 copper plugs with the short ground strap, and running an extremely tight gap. Works perfectly with high boost on a stock ignition system. Have you checked the sensor with an ohm-meter? One should be between 800 and 1500, and the other should be no more than 2400 IIRC; I can look it up to verify. Also, are you still running balance shafts? Are you still running the OBDII dizzy, or did you switch to OBDI? I had a similar issue right before I began tuning. That's why the car didn't start in my video.

    Hi AFaccord, I have the 1998 Accord LX. Mine is boosted as well, makes 250whp and 242wtrq on 9 psi. I wanted to ask you if you knew if the F23 can do 500whp. My goal is ~500whp and ~480wtrq. Now on a stock block I figured it would be a stretch but Dart makes a block for the F23 that pretty much reinforces the weak parts; thickened the cylinder walls, steel main caps, Closed deck instead of open, and machined for piston oil sprayers. Just wonder what you think the limitations would be with the dart block. I would also be pretty much mimicking your build except for lower compression pistons (9:1) and little bit bigger turbo (60 Trim) and beefed up axles as well. Thank you.

      The wheels are Kyowa KR318's I believe, just some inexpensive eBay wheels. I've spent around $9,000 on the car, but that is for a lot more than just the engine build. Turbo is a Garrett 57 trim. All the specs are in the video description.
