I wonder how does the concept of plates lasting longer even works. I have some plates back from the Soviet times, and they are just fine. I mean, the only way the plate can become unusable is when you break it.

      @@InsidiousOne Two options:

I've always been confused with the amount of stuff Bethesda has cut outta their games. I don't know anything about game design really, but it seems pointless to me a lot of the time. Not just the dialogue too. Whenever I play skyrim with mods, the cutting room floor mod is almost as essential as the unofficial patch for me.

Lots of stuff gets cut in games in general. Typically developers have to first come up with an overall draft of what they want to accomplish (a scope, if you will), but then when they have to grind their fists into the stone they find not everything they planned worked out the way they wanted it to so they might have to scale some things back. Either they realize some things were too ambitious, they pushed against a deadline before they could finish up certain things, or the leads changed their minds at some point. The fact that there isn't any *major* content missing from the game is good, as it shows they're at least somewhat professional... although I weep to think of the waste of money all that cut dialogue was.

    • @CAIDENROX
      @CAIDENROX 3 ปีที่แล้ว +32

Considering Oblivion came out in 2006, it was more than likely that they literally couldn't fit all this stuff into the game. For example the Arena questline used to have an Arena in EVERY major city.

I'm against modding Oblivion, because I believe it's perfect the way it is. However, if I were given the chance to replace cut content- like the part where the Emperor tells you to take his hand as you swore an oath, I'd gladly mod that back in! Plus all that idle banter would've been a nice touch to an already magnificent game. :) I'm also really interested in that cut ogre quest. I've always wondered if they put anything in that empty area north of Chorrol. Turns out it was just cut out. Shame, because it really caught my interest.

The Lonely Hearts quest can still be done as an unmarked quest even without modding it back into the game. After hearing the rumor around town you can go through the steps and get the guard and the tavern owner together. There is less dialog involved and I actually think it makes it better because your on a quest that many may not even realize they are on. Also without all the dialog from the tavern owner you have to decide on your own to talk to the guard for her and in the end when you revisit her she thanks you for getting him to visit her.

Tbh devs made a wise decision changing voice actors for the male Bretons it would have been hard to tell the difference between Imperials and Bretons if they had the same voice actor. (Female Bretons and Imperials still have the same voice can be difficult to tell which race is which sometimes)
Oblivion turns 20 years old in 2 years maybe we will get a 20th anniversary addition with some of the cut content added 🤞🤞

"Originally, there was meant to be an arena in each city. The only two that remain in the game are the Imperial City Arena and the destroyed Kvatch Arena. Writer Emil Pagliarulo confirmed that this was the case in the eighth episode of the Bethesda Podcast, celebrating the fifth anniversary of Oblivion. However, there was too much dialogue and it could not fit on the disk. Removing the other arenas meant that about 800 lines of dialogue could also be removed."

That was a quick hour. Also, I must be having Mandela effect because I feel like I did the Ogre Quest 🤯

28:16 I swear I heard this greeting in Split. Is it maybe in the unofficial Shivering Isles patch? I swear J'zidzo greeted me with the Argonian Maid dialogue yesterday

You can still do the lonely hearts quest, it's just not tracked, although sometimes doesn't work.

That Ogre quest is so familiar. I've definitely played something similar. I seem to remember the wife sending you after him? I remembered everything up to the "Lets wait a week" exactly as it happened, but it deviated after that. Did a similar quest appear in Skyrim? Or another game?

The ogre quest is in Oblivion so that’s probably what you’re remembering. You get it from the house out in the mountains near Bruma. I guess he included it because it was originally a bit different

You may have played a mod that recreated it like what's featured in the video. It's not in the final game, but nearly all the dialogue is leftover (even more so in localized versions). Spy Rock doesn't exist in the final game, and the ogres in the cave were replaced with goblins.

It would be awesome if Skyblivion added back some of this cut content.

Casta: who is the fairest of them all?
*That's a question we all ask in Oblivion but never get an answer too. Everyone's faces are sins against god.*

Castle Varaldo and the idle dialogue are two things I wish weren’t cut from the game. The castle seemed very unique.
