That’s what happens to a lot shitposty mods. Take some of the employees of skyblivion for example. If I recall correctly it was a bit of a “what If” concept and a lot of the primary workers didn’t even expect to become modders.

Seeing a Stargate in Oblivion and then commenting, "I dunno what this is i've never even watched star wars" physically hurt me a little bit.

Fishy Sticks are a VERY old Bethesda reference, dating back to the original Elder Scrolls forums.
Yes indeed! Anytime someone new joined, they were offered a Fishy Stick, using the image of Capitan Morgan offering you a, well, fish stick. One of Sheogorath's lines in Skyrim is a direct reference to the Fishy Stick

The smiling face picture you see often is a techno artist called Aphex Twin. Was pretty big in the late 90s/2000s. - makes sense as the mod is aggressively 2000s
further proof all of us really lived the same 4 childhoods if we ended up at oblivion mods at some point

Aethersuite by Halo is this x100. And a mod found on loverslab called modernscroll (not sex related) adds a modern city. The Korean Mod scene has pumped out a least a dozen modern city environments that are very realistic but most are not translated.
Only people who know hard it is to make mods will appreciate how amazing this shit post is it's literally an artform.

I had gigabytes of mods for Oblivion when I was young, I have no idea how I managed to miss this, haha
Divine intervention.
The lab section in the beginning (Alpha Labs, Delta Labs) is taken straight from Doom 3, including many asset lookalikes. Even the portal you came out of is more or less in the same spot where portal to Hell in Doom 3 is. That's why that scientist mentions dead colleagues and monsters.
the giant screen behind that Picard lookalike is just the small monitor made bigger. can even see the buttons on the side.
I once played a conversion of Warband that made it Glasgow. it was weird throwing rocks at scots in a knit cap.

@@Drexus88 was going to pick up Bannerlord on sale even though I'm happy with Warband. Never heard of the Glasgow mod, but M&B does have some pretty, eh, special mods.
@@WK-47 if you're satisfied with M&B I wouldn't jump to BL yet. I've enjoyed it & still go back from time to time but the mod support still isn't quite there yet due to the frequency of updates. Kinda a dual edged sword but most small mods work between versions it's just the bigger projects & people giving up on it that sucks but it's come a long way.
I love how the author acutally put effort into this mod by also giving all textures a normal map (for "depth") but all of them are way too intense and even on objects that really don't need a normal map lmao

@@Assdafflabaff Yeah, Postal 2 was amazing, Running with Scissors made a timeless classic, I heard they were developing a new postal game, I haven't been keeping up with it but I believe they released a demo, the trailer shows that they went for a different direction with the game hope it has the same charm as postal 2.
@@volosatikru3679 Postal 4 is in Early Access, I bought it when it came out but I haven't played it for months. It just got a big new update actually, I think they released either Thursday or Friday. Gonna be time to jump back into it soon.

@@volosatikru3679 compared to Postal 1 & 3 I'd say it's more inline with 2 than in a different direction. Not to say it isn't progressing in it's own way but part of what makes a Postal game a Postal is what made Postal 2 different from similar games like GTA, Mafia, & Yakuza imo.

Only if that was the only clothing he had in his inventory. The statue wears your highest valued equipment at the time of completing that quest.

This was super nostalgic for me. I remember downloading this at least 10 years ago because I was obsessed with anime and modern fantasy at the time. I wanted to have anime battle music and a guitar weapon for some reason. Good times.
I remember having a fever dream similar to this but it was morrowind with a modern setting that was so out of place.

There's a single female guard in the game, down in .......... god dammit it''s been YEARS since I've played Oblivion, can't believe I forgot the town name ... Leyawiin, that's the one (thanks Google.) That's where the voice lines come from.

That sounds about right for Oblivion. Back then there were multiple platforms for mods, a lot of them gone and forgotten along with the mods that were hosted on them. That, and the simple fact that back then it was much easier to get overlooked despite the more dedicated mod player base compared to now. I'm lucky to have a lot of them backed up from so many years ago.
Also Chuck Norris in Oblivion? That's a machinima if you can believe it. Starts out low quality by a newbie and turns into a real high quality machinima up there with Icnogneatus and Lord of Corruption and so on and so forth.

So...from Oblivion's Cyrodiil, through a stargate from Stargate, to a UAC facility from Doom, staffed with a guy who looks like Captain Picard from Star Trek became a redshirt, into a Duke Nukem city with a literal Duke Nukem statue.
All the while a ton of real life things are thrown in and probably more references that I didn't catch.
11/10 this whole mod, I love it

This was one of the first mods I had for Oblivion when I got it for PC, as strange as it is was it introduced me to Aphex Twin and the song from Blade that blasts over and over in the night club. I used to always make sure I had Dukecity in my mod load order just in case I felt like I wanted something different. I'm so happy it is still up and around.
As a Dutchman I can confirm that Heineken from a can is made from Amsterdam canal water.
Don't let Bethesda see this, they'll use it as DLC for ES6.

This reminds me of those PTSD mods made for Source. They were huge inside jokes that were released for public download, but barely any of the jokes landed for anyone not in the friend group they were made in.

Heineken was the beer that let me know I was into lagers. I don't like it as much these days, but hearing you trash it made me frown a bit, until you clarified bottle vs can. Yeah canned heineken is a human rights violation.
I'd drink a bottled Heineken anyday! Same goes for draft. But I don't know what went wrong with the cans being so rotten.
@@MickyD it has to do with the metal. I forgot many of the specifics of it but a lot goes into the flavor of alcohol. I've had whiskeys aged in wood & metal barrels & there's a lot different between them depending on the type of wood/metal keg you use & how often it's cleaned thoroughly, if the wood was smoked or not etc. When you get canned beer it sits in that metal for a while before someone even ships it let alone buys it.
@@MickyD Yeah I hadn't had a Heineken in a couple years, this joint I stopped at only had cans. Got them. Legit one of the biggest mistakes of my life. Thought I Just hated Heineken, then got it on draft a while later and thought it was fine, but a few other lagers seem to have special properties of being better in the bottle and rank in the can or vice versa.
I can’t even begin to imagine where this started and how much time was spent to deliver… this.
A mod for skyrim where you get transported to a modern world would actually be pretty cool, exploring how the dragonborn acts in a modern world. You could have a sort of stargate type plot and have guns and such. Would be pretty interesting for sure. And im sure it could scratch a lot of those self insert scratches if it had an alternate start where it was the reverse and you go into skyrim from the modern world
Edit: also this mod is really cool, but it doesnt have voice acting and such. Would be cool to see one like it but on the scale and quality of mods like beyond skrim
