"Abarth not even in top 3 in the handling"? What is he smoking? May be he didn't got his ergonomics right. Or may be the tyre downgrade spoiled them. Even the stock Punto with a higher ride height trumps all these cars in steering feedback and handling (Baleno comes close though).
Speaking of which, media is hyping Baleno way too much, just like they do with every Maruti (and Hyundai) product when its newly launched. In reality though, Baleno is a very ordinary car that handles decently but scores average on almost every other parameter. Its lack of weight make it feel cheap and even unstable when handled roughly, and the quality of materials used is typical Maruti. Dear everyone, go test drive the cars on your own before making buying decisions. Most mainstream reviewers are sell-outs. Speaking from experience.
The Polo GT TSI doesn't produce 212 NM of torque as stated in that comparative table in the beginning of your video. It produces 175 NM of torque. What were the people at OVERDRIVE smoking when they made this video?

only hot hatch I see here is punto abarth n polo . Rest are just your normal hatchback nothing exciting about them
I don't get the idea of this track test. Probably a marketing initiative by the sponsor brands? Becasue there is absolutely NO other petrol car (apart from the Octavia 1.8 TSi) this side of 25 lakhs that can match the Abarth Punto's performance.
a good review, but most of these cars cannot be classified as "hot" hatches.

People, Abarth is the Best! Polo has 175Nm of Torque, not 212Nm of Torque. These guys have written wrong.'!!!
Abarth does 0-100kmph in 8.8s. That's awefully slow compared to any European true hot hatch. It says a lot about the Indian auto industry.

India is diesel concentric so Polo GT TDi vs Jazz i Dtec vs Figo TDCi vs Baleno ZDi vs i20 elite CRDi should make sense and worth a video,

Comparing Polo GT and Punto Abarth with other 1.2 litre engines is somewhat incorrect.
Punto 1.2 litre engine and Polo 1.2 litre engine should have considered for the test in comparison to the other cars in the list.
awesome and a very relevant test. going to help a lot of enthusiasts. and, pleasantly surprised with Baleno. you should redo this when Baleno RS is launched.
Hello Team OD, i would like to know what section tyres did you guys use on all of the? Since JK Vectra is certainly not the best out there! Besides, punto by default comes shod with 195 section Apollo which is obviously better than vectra! How about retesting these with better rubber! Maybe 195 Yokohama? :) I'm sure the lap time and handling crisis with many cars will improve! Great comparo though!
absolutely can't believe about baleno!!! I made up my mind that Abarth punto will be my first car, now I need to think again. A humble request to Ford India, please put a manual gear box on figo petrol and give us Ford Figo S just like old aquaris blue fiesta 1.6s
I really think the upcoming Baleno with the 1 Liter BoosterJet engine would change the equation by a huge margin!

I wonder how the Swift would perform. Definitely handles better than the Baleno. With the same engine and gearbox.

A nice concept, this video. But it's too technical. Some of us will get it, but what about the rest? To sum it up, too much talking and very little driving. But this is definitely a step in the right direction. I'm happy to see an Indian channel heading in this direction.

Baleno RS could have easily taken over polo GT in this test cause it's actually 2-3 seconds faster than conventional baleno

the polo gt was the one in this test...and its been in india for some years now...I think you mean the polo gti which is certainly a very fast car.But it would not be fair to include that in this comparison since it is priced around 20 lakh.Besides it is also a 3 door coupe version,and coupe chassis is always better than a 4 door chasis

I see the Baleno as the winner here. Abarth and Polo were frankly disappointing IMO.
