Hahaha couldn't agree more! I'm always checking listings online, even when I'm absolutely not in the market to buy a car. I'd say I spend an easy 15-20 mins a day doing this. My preferred platform lately has been Instagram. A lot of independent dealers now seem to be on Instagram/ WhatsApp and have their entire catalogues uploaded here. I keep going back to their pages to see what new models have been uploaded.

Interesting. I know they last forever and hence i would assume that they don't lose much value over time. And hence, does honda city get a good discount in the second hand market?

So.I was looking for a suv as my sedan ford aspire started giving me back pain. I saw 2020 seltos for 20l which was new for 20l or so. Same happened with most cars I saw. Harrier, safari, cretas aren’t even depreciating after 80-90k of driving. I said fk it. Got 2nd owner Audi q5 ,50k driven with service records. I am happy. It’s a diseal beast. Maintainace is high but the pleasure at the cost, just makes me happy.
I got a 2013 E220 petrol for 9 lakhs! I spent 4-5 lakhs for whatever needed to be changed and now my merc is just the way I wanted it. All for 15 lakhs! After all the expense the merc is now as good as new. In the next two years I will go for a new paint job and then I guess I will be able to keep it forever! The new ones go for 75+ easily so now I have 60L that I saved on the second hand for the rest of my life to keep my merc running in good condition. My next purchase will be a bmw 5 series petrol 😊
Thanks for sharing your story, love the E220 and specially the back seat! Great job in building the car of your dreams from scratch! Btw stay tuned - there's a new video coming up soon on a luxury car 😉
@nevilpatel522 and @pranayk37 I have a Merc E250 which I bought last year 2015 model. All was well and it is sexy looking car to look at and to drive but until last few weeks back that all of sudden first the rear right side tyre pressure sensor stopped working which I managed to replace. Then it prompted to check engine oil level. On checking the oil is mixing with the coolant. The mechanic first changed the cooler but he says it is still not sorted and checking the head of gasket and any other issue in the engine. Do you think I will be able to use the car once this out of the workshop or do I use it and sell it off. I spent 23lakhs and spent about 95k to upgrade the Apple car play entertainment system in it. Please advise
@@rohitkhanna5703 hey rohit! These cars are hard to maintain as something or the other keeps malfunctioning. The new parts are costly so beware. But its what german luxury is all about. If u have a good source of income then using it for some indulgence, in this case for your merc, isn’t a bad thing as u will definitely end up spending it somewhere else anyway. But if u think that regularly visiting the service centre is a headache then get rid of ur car asap. I bought mine knowing full well that its going to be very heavy on my pocket. But man when everything is working in the car at those times i feel absolute pleasure. Even now there is a bonet open warning and airbag malfunction warning is displayed and the ac only works on one setting. 😂 but i ignore all that as they are not that important for me. My engine and my handling is still on point so thats all i need from my car. I love driving it every time. It’s a proper driver’s car. So ya coming to your point, if u r into expensive hobbies then keep it or else sell it off and get something else that requires less maintenance.
I find Honda the best brand to go for in the used car market. It has multiple products which failed in the market so the depreciation is quite high, plus beautiful cars, low maintenance & great service. Other than the City, Jazz, WR-V & CRV 1.6 are few used car options I really appreciate. One of the best in the market by far has to be the Amaze Diesel Automatic.
Agreed - great cars all of them! Thanks for sharing. The first time I drove a Honda city - i had a big wide grin across my face because of how smooth and fast it was
One more thing to keep in mind - if financing a car, the interest rate is way lower (almost half) for a new car vs a used one. So financing a used car is more expensive.
Skoda and Volkswagen are heavily depreciated in the used car market, but they'll also burn a hole in the pocket. German cars have notoriously hogh maintenance costs.
I think there's a slight nuance I'd add to what you're saying. If one talks about periodic maintenance costs (such as regular servicing), my experience over the last 8 years of owning multiple Skodas is that the maintenance costs aren't actually that high. What also helps is that Skoda and Volkswagen have really worked quite a lot on lowering the maintenance costs over the last 4-5 years in an overall effort to drive down the total cost of ownership and help with the higher adoption of their brands. However, when it comes down to costs in the case of major repairs or breakdowns, you're right that Skodas and VWs tend to burn a hole in the pocket. Either way, as someone who is a big fan of these brands personally, I try to see the positive which is heavily depreciated (i.e. cheaper) second hand cars to buy! :)
True. But German cars have great handling on highways and you feel confident while driving. I recently bought a 5 year old Skoda Kodiaq diesel with 1.75 lakh kms but driving as good as new.
most of the german cars comes with 4 years service warranty and we can extend it by paying like 24k. you don't pay a single paisa in 4 years. not even for air filter, oil change or even single nut replacement
Someone sold his used car to Spinny discovered his car on Spinny site and had their meters altered ! Question is can brands be trusted with information they are claiming
As an owner of a 2nd hand VW Polo GT line car from Spinny, i highly recommend you to take the car to the dealership in the first 5 day moneyback guarantee period. I took mine and found that the cat-con was replaced with a local one, which was giving weird signals to the O2 sensors, eventually telling my ECU to supply fuel lean mixture into my engine. Ultimately, damaging the whole process. I raised this with Spinny and after a haggle with them on emails and in-person, they managed an original part from the 2nds market and viola, the car has been running smoothly since then. (Took it to Kerala from Delhi and back! and have almost done 30K Kms on it. No issues.)
That's awesome to hear! Bolero is known for its ruggedness and longevity, so it's no surprise that yours still feels like new. 16+ kmpl is great mileage for a vehicle of that size, and I'm sure the savings make it even sweeter. Enjoy your Bolero and safe travels!
This was a fantastic video. It just validated my first second-hand car which I purchased 3 months back and my analysis revolved around the usage of it for 3 years and then buy a new hybrid SUV.
The point where he said keep looking and looking for the cars is so true I am in search of a SH car in mumbai but the prices are so inflated. Even if i like the vehicle i would give them my price which i can buy at and simply move on and look for other one because the options are totally endless Its all about keep constantly searching. Now i just keep searching for car owners on olx and negotiate with them for their cars directly
Exactly what I'm going through. Getting third hand cars at ridiculous prices just because the car is discontinued (Endeavour, Superb). No point overpaying for them
Got my Compass limited auto for less than 50% the price was a company owned and just 35k driven with full records. Also own a 2013 Superb. Before that owned a Palio 1.6 which was at a throwaway price and drove it for 10yrs. I too believe it’s worth it buying a used car. And always good driving dynamics cars aren’t popular with Indian people, Fiats, Jeeps, Skodas etc. and generally they’ll be less value in the used car market. For an enthusiast like me best bang for buck is in the used market. 😊
At one point you told:ek lower price bata do and just wait till the dealer comes down to that price. Same happened with me!! Recently I bought a Pajero Sport MT,1L kms (MH) .Got a wonderful car.Had 0 repairs just the regular service of 1Lkms and replaced oils/belts/filters and voila it was as good as new!Drove it now for 7k kms ,no issues He started with 9L. I pointed out the negatives in the car like tyres ,timing belt, vibrations and normal issues and claimed it for 7.5L and sticked to it .Took 10-15 days but eventually the dealer came down and settled at 7.5L
I usually fast forward the vidoes, but this one was so good and so informative.. detial explanation and so clear that it demamded for my attention.. kudos 👏
I can see all your efforts in making this. Very informative and to the point. Am planning to upgrade from two wheeler to a used car. Can you please suggest a better car.
Great conversation but when I talk to people who got 2nd hand car , 8/10 say they made a mistake and will never buy 2nd hand car again😂😂 As said in the video there are no thumb rules. The value proposition more with german brands casue japanese are being sold at so much premium that you better off with brand new.
"Lemon" products, or products with bad performance and low durability, are often bought due to a lack of information or information asymmetry that can lead people into bad purchases and bad investments, instead of avoiding the product entirely. Ref: 1970 paper titled "The Market for Lemons: Quality Uncertainty and the Market Mechanism." In contrast, the opposite good product is called a Peach
Update; I recently bought a used Volvo V40 Cross Country Diesel 2014 ; 110k kms and it drives like it came out of the showroom a few months ago. Signature Volvo engine, pulls like a truck! An excellent piece of a pre-''worshipped'' car. Like someone said, you've to keep looking, hunting, for a good car if you're going the used route. Hold on to your old one until a good model comes along and jump on it if it is a peach.
To take your car for inspection at a VW/Skoda Service Center, first, they will ask for proof that you own the car. Then, they will check if you bought the car from their showroom. After that, they will decide whether to inspect your car. This is what I think happens, but please correct me if I'm wrong.
This is not entirely accurate. I recently called jai skoda in gurgaon to enquire about an inspection of a second hand car. They gave me a quote of 3500 without any of the clauses you mentioned above
I'm having a really hard choice to make, between a 2018-20ish Superb L&K, Octavia 1.8 L&K or go with the brand new XUV700/Scorpio N. Mostly city driving with 1-2 600-800km trips every 2 months. Major concerns are with the service costs, resale value and potential flaws to avoid in the car. Need recommendations from prev owners pls. Thanks

Sounds interesting. Maybe take it to the bmw service center and get a paid inspection done along with service history etc before you finalise. Also hope you're accounting for the insurance costs and the annual maintenance costs in your decision. luxury cars are fairly expensive to maintain, can be around a lac a year. Though I wouldn't buy it personally. Only because the car has two years left. And your effective cost of ownership is really high (3.75L / year) assuming it goes for scrap after
Glad you liked the video! Hard to comment on your choice. Rapid is a solid, reliable car. 70K can be considered if it has been well maintained with care by the owner. Check for Service records, get an inspection done by Skoda and maybe then take a call! Good luck with your decision and let us know what you decide :)
This depends on a case by case basis - I wouldn't paint all second hand cars with the same broad stroke. This is where due diligence, car inspection, reference check of seller comes in. It takes time and effort, but sometimes the returns can be worth the effort :) Thanks for your comment!

i will be going for a used skoda octavia or a hyundai elantra instead of a mid level variant of baleno or i20. for 8-10 lakhs i will be getting a much safer and a premium car instead of a new i20 or baleno. Maintenance is not an issue as i have very good FNG's in my area.
How did the cool bald guy turned into a nerd moment he takes his sun shades off in the end.. Cool video though, Bought a pre owned Fortuner (2017, 48K run) for 22L from Cars24 2 yrs back.. Abs loving it 😍😍
Hahaha lesser mortals like Siddhant and I haven't driven the Z4. Having said that, i LOVE BMW and the driving dynamics. Pretty sure if I had the money, I'd buy a Z4 😂
Good video. Don't buy second hand car people. The prices are sky high and it's not worth the hassle. Secondly you don't want to get stranded in a random place on a car which history isn't known. No amount of savings can equal that safety net.
Personally, I'm risk-averse when it comes to cars that old. The thought of unexpected repairs and time spent dealing with them doesn't appeal to me. However, everyone's different! If you're confident about the Rapid/VW, the service history looks good, and the price is right, there's no harm in considering it. Bonus if you know the owner and know they've cared for the car. Just be aware of the potential downsides and factor them into your decision.
Need your help please suggest if I should go for a Jazz or Amaze(2017-19) which would cost me about 5 lakhs (3.5 lakh would be loan at 13%) or should I go for maybe a polo or ameo (2015-18) which I will be getting at 4-4.5 lakh. I love driving germans but I fear the cost of maintenance they come with(as told by many ).
The larger issue I see is taking a loan at 13% which is not recommended. If you have an option to postpone the purchase, consider saving up some more and buy a second hand car without a loan. Or buy a new car at 8.8% rate of interest
Honestly I have a swift that I bought 1st hand in 2020 for about 5L on road. I’m a big fan of its reliability, how fun to drive it is and how it looks. The prices have increased since then but I’d highly recommend it - hard to go wrong with a swift
@@pranayk37 Also if you make a video, do raise the question of whether 2nd hand petrol cars are commanding a premium over 2nd hand diesel cars, due to the extra 5 years. P.S. i’m just getting demanding now 😅
Would love to research on this and cover this in another video. However, the short answer for now is that there isn't unfortunately much that can be done in such cases :( Your best bet is to find a buyer and sell in neighbouring states such as Haryana, Rajasthan, UP, or even other states that don't have these restrictions. There is also the possibility to get the registration of the car extended by another 5 years after getting a fitness test done, etc. - but not sure if that's already in place or if that's still at the discussion stage in terms of government's policy. I'd have to do more research on this to be able to say for sure.
Very informative and to the point video. Thanks for that. Does siddhant also has a rule or recommendation about how much is the limit in terms of number of kilometers the car should have done.
Hi Ankan! Thank you so much for your kind words. To your question, no rule of thumb as such. Obviously all else equal, there is a preference for cars that have done fewer kilometres. However, one shouldn't necessarily look away from a car just because it's run a certain number of kilometres either. What I do recommend (and personally do) in cases of cars with higher mileage on them though is pay more attention and weightage to the upkeep and maintenance history of the car - i.e. have periodic services been done or not/ have any major parts become due for replacement or not/ etc. For instance, for a car that has done let's say 75K kilometres, I would get the condition of the suspension, tyres, and other engine components that may need periodic replacement (e.g. timing belts, etc.) checked before making a decision on the purchase of the car. You will be able to find manufacturer/ OEM recommended intervals for replacement of such parts online quite easily online, so you can factor that into your purchase.
@@siddhantmittal6790 Thanks for taking the effort to pen such a detailed reply, this shows your willingness to help people. Hoping to hear more practical knowledge nuggets from you in the future..👏👏👍
My two cents where I have a slightly different point of view - if the car I'm buying is for my primary usage as the daily driver, i wouldn't go for something that has been driven too much, just for my personal peace of mind😅
There is a comment from a user saying how he bought a Porsche boxster at 45L and is now getting 68L. So I guess it is true, some of them are like gold after all 😂
Thank you for your comment and glad you enjoyed the video :) Given the car is already at the end of life (almost) reselling it will be difficult for you. Add to it the maintenance costs of a 10 year old diesel car. Hence, your overall cost of ownership will be quite high. I would use this money elsewhere and either buy a new or a slightly old (3-4 year old) hatchback.
Hey as u also own a Skoda now. Pls suggest if i should go for second hand Skoda rapid Model-2019, petrol manual Ambition model, carbon steel colour. This is on Carlay platform quoting rs. 6.9 Lacs. Do this model really justify the price? Or new can be worth
I really appreciate! How well you guys have highlighted the pointers that a potential buyer should keep in their mind when they go out looking for their next vehicle. I just hope this conversation video gets recommended to every potential car buyer. It will really help! Thank you!!
I just went thru a really harrowing time trying to get a clear & untampered ford endeavour most dealers had vehicles with no proper records & tampered odometers. I finally got a genuine 2016 3.2 4x4 done 63k in Mumbai with all ford maintenance records. These larger SUVs barely depreciate. In fact a mercedes-benz GLE 2017 done 100k was selling at 48lacs which I found too pricy considering future maintenance costs. The ford on the other hand has very low maintenance costs & offers more reliability.
Exactly how we felt and that's why this video - are second hand cars even worth it now? For some brands and some segments - they are and for some others like the ones you mentioned above, they aren't! Thank you for your comment
Have a Nexon diesel. Not even 2 years old 48k km driven. When going to sell dealer asking 30-40% lower than purchase 😢. Truly 1st hand takes the maximum hit
Dealers play the margin game. Try and sell it within your friends, family, colleagues network? You'll probably get a slightly better price than what dealers are offering. Get an official pricing done from spinny or olx auto or some such platform, and use that as baseline to sell it to someone in your network at a higher price? Good luck!
Hey pranay, need your suggestion, I am planning to buy Honda amaze Vx ivtec MT top model in cherry red colour 2018 cng 42k kms driven at 4.5Lac should I go for it is is worthy ?
Acha so tell me one thing? Like if we want to check the used car to a manufacturer showroom, like do used car dealers give you the car to check? Or we have to buy first? I dont kmow what is it?
Speaking about SUV in used car market, product like Ford Endeavour is stagnant with its pricing and at some places Dealer are asking higher price than previous year pricing
You're spot on. The Endeavour is one of those few cars that almost have a cult following for them in the market (much like the Octavia VRS, for instance). Limited supply + this cult following that only want an Endeavour and nothing else ensure that prices in the used car market always stay high!
Hi @PranayKapoor, great video, just need a suggestion. Im getting a hyundai venue which is 2021 model 21k driven for a 8lakh price, which costed him around 10.5 lakh on road. Is it a great deal to consider? 😊
Few questions that you should consider: 1) how much is a new one for now? 2) is it under warranty? 3) are you going to take a loan to buy it or not loan? Because a loan on a second hand is around 13% and hence you should add the interest component to the deal to evaluate whether its worth it or not. 4) is it petrol or diesel? If its diesel, the life of the car will be lesser so it should depreciate more
While buying a second hand car where do i inspection it ? Kyuki dealer to nhi batayega kya problem h gaadi m accidental h ya nhi ...or the authorised dealer of specific brand inspect if we give them money ?
Yes. Take it to an official service centre and pay them for an inspection. Škoda for example charges about 3500 for an inspection. Some dealers also rig the nearby service centres so to be extra safe you can take the car to a service centre further away.
Hi, I'm not sure. You can maybe look at the price of a new Ertiga on road and assume a 40-50% depreciation on it to arrive at a figure? Given it's a Maruti, it will command a slight premium over other brands.

Got it. So my parents have an amaze and I've driven it a fair bit. It definitely feels safe to be in one, though the ncap rating isn't the best. If safety is your first priority, tata motor cars are top notch in terms of build quality, you could probably go for the Tiago. The car has 7 years of life remaining. And paying 14.75L means annual cost of ownership of 2.1L I'll let you decide if that's something you're comfortable with, depending on the condition of the car, etc
@ an annual cost of 2-3L it’s fine with me I stopped doing rah driving only few times I’ll take the car to 170-180kmph I cruise it at 90-120kmph very often I just want it to be reliable and the car condition is good even if it’s good I’ll still change the cars parts right after buying one

Hey there! Please provide your opinions on getting used cars from VW and Skoda as the brands. I'm getting a Polo GT 1.2 TSI which is of the year 2014/15 and has been run 1L kms plus (Yeah, DSG) for 4.35Lakh rupees. Really confused if I shall go with it or not?
Hi Bhaskar, thanks for your question. If I were you, I'd avoid. Its too old a car and will have countless niggles. Moreover with Polo discontinued, worth checking how the service support is. In 4.25L, I'd go for maybe a second hand Swift or i10 that is relatively newer and guarantees more peace of mind.
@@pranayk37 The VVT Swift of the year 2015-18 or the early DDIS are very good options giving the mix of good peppy driving dynamics, efficiency and ease of maintenance. But the keeda of enthusiasm for the VW Polo kicks in and stalls the plan. The feeling of being stuck and not being able to decide is the situation. Anyway, the discussion was really very helpful given the topic. Waiting for more of your videos. Topic idea: Used car options for young car enthusiasts who want to start to build as they earn and spend on the upgradation. Context: Most car guys are generally corporate blue collar men having the love for revving at 4000 -6000 RPM
Hi Bhaskar! Great choice of car in terms of what you're considering, but I totally understand the concerns as well haha. Firstly, as far as Skoda and VW go as brands, I'd say they're definitely good brands to target in the used car market since build quality and driving experience is quite great AND these cars tend to depreciate more - so win-win there! However, with respect to the specific car that you mention, few things to consider: 1. This generation of the Polo GT was notorious for cases of DSG failure, which can be quite costly to fix. A quick search on forums like Team BHP will throw up more than one case. I personally have a friend who has had to deal with DSG failure on 2 different Polo GTs that he owned. 2. I'd also ask if this purchase would be your daily drive/ only car, or is this a second car that you're looking to purchase for the occasional recreational drive. If the former, then I'd try and stay away from the Polo GT and go with some of the options Pranay mentioned since 4.35L will get you (i) newer, more updated models (ii) brands that will be cheaper to run/ maintain in the long term. 3. Lastly, even objectively this does feel a little overpriced - rough math I'm doing is that the car was ~8L ex-showroom when new in 2014. Given 10 years of life and ~1L kms on the odo, only about 50% depreciation doesn't feel right. Though I get the fact this is a model typically sought after by enthusiasts hence the high resale - still, doesn't feel like a deal. Hope this is helpful.
@@siddhantmittal6790 Thank you so much dear Siddhant for addressing my concern. I actually checked on the team BHP portal and found countless examples of the DSG issue. Since I'm planning to get the car as my daily driver, I duly respect your and dear pranay's suggestions and look for a better deal. That depreciation calculation just sinked in and now I am thankful your video showed up on my feed!!!! Thank you and pranay ji both for addressing my query and providing such valuable inputs.
Interest rates on used car loans do tend to be higher, typically by 2-3% versus those for new car loans. That will definitely eat into the overall savings one can extract from a used car purchase. Another thing to note is that banks/ financial institutions usually have cut-offs in terms of the age of the car when it comes to sanctioning loans on used cars. So one may find it difficult to even get a loan on a car in the first place, if the car is more than 7-8 years old.
If you are eligible for car loan high chances you will get personal loan as well at 10-11% vs 8-9% for new car loan but if you buy a car 3 yr old car you might be able to get a 30% less.
Hi Sir, I found a "Jeep Compass 2018, Diesel Manual Limited". 27000 Km driven only. Dealer asking 11 Lacs. Should I go with it? Or should I go and buy new car at this price bracket? My heart says to go for Jeep Compass ❤❤, What ks is your advice Sir?
There's a few options. The organised players in the space (e.g. Spinny, Cars24) have now started offering loans on used cars through their own financing arms as well as through partners. Even the unorganised, standalone dealers nowadays have financing partners that help get a loan on used cars. Lastly, some banks/ financial institutions can be approached directly for loans on used cars as well.
I landed in India and had to stay for 3 years due to my posting. Back in France, I drove a C-Class, but it was embassy-maintained. In India, we don't get those cars from the home country, so I had to buy one. I went with a 2019 BMW 330i M Sport for 37 lakh and, after 3 years, sold it for 25 lakh. Then, I bought a new Jimny for my family and was off again. ✈
Could you tell me is it wise to buy used diesel car 7 year old (tiguan highline tdi 2017 delhi reg) given govt is planning to ban on diesel car by 2027 or something. I'm from Karnataka so ideally I should get 7-8 years with this car(yes I want it for longterm).
If I were you, I wouldn’t buy it. Purely because you want it for the long term and diesel will not give you long term Peace of mind. Having said that Tiguan is a lovely car and I’m a big fan myself. But I’m staying away from diesel personally given my mileage isn’t very high
Bro just go ahead, these guys don't know what they are talking about. The 2.0 TDi in that Tiguan is reliable af, just change the water pump every 5 years 80k kms. I drive a 2015 jetta tdi mt. No problem at all. I don't know why these so called auto channels promote 3 - 5 year usage cycle of cars. Just go check out respective forums and you'll understand the car better. I'm part of VW jetta india group and there are loads of cars above 1 lakh, highest is 4lakh km running. Even the ones from 2008 & 9 are reliable if taken care of.
The reason i can never take a indian car enthusiast seriously is we get people caryying boxes masquerading as cars. These big boxes(SUV) never excite me. If someone says im fond of driving and he/she drives a suv i just shudder. You cant buy a decent sportscar in india unless you are a crorepati or rob a bank. Thats y i switched to bikes. I watch all foreign car shows btw, top gear etc.
Not a big fan of SUVs myself. Specially the pseudo/wannabe suv segment like creta, nexon, seltos etc. just don’t get why do people need those cars when sedans are a) more aerodynamic b) way more smoother c) almost the same ground clearance. If you want an SUV - go buy a real one and not these pathetic excuses..
Best way to find a good car is always keep looking for one lol..its my hobby olx window shopping
So true! Please send me some listings too if you find any 😂😂
Same mine …just as Facebook Marketplace I do daily check Olx too 😅😅…it my hobby…

What if the new scrap policy is in place? 😅 You will have to dump your car soon
My dad is one of them. We don’t really have a need still he buy those good deals, drive it for 6 months & sell it for same price or bit of profits

The first time I drove a Honda city - i had a big wide grin across my face because of how smooth and fast it was
Love these format of videos! Much better than the rest! Amazingly done!
Yay, thank you!
One more thing to keep in mind - if financing a car, the interest rate is way lower (almost half) for a new car vs a used one. So financing a used car is more expensive.
That's right. This discussion assumes you aren't financing a used car
Skoda and Volkswagen are heavily depreciated in the used car market, but they'll also burn a hole in the pocket. German cars have notoriously hogh maintenance costs.
Fair point, but I guess that's why they are depreciated in the second hand market. But the heart wants what it wants sometimes :)
@@shivamannanWhats average service cost..??
most of the german cars comes with 4 years service warranty and we can extend it by paying like 24k. you don't pay a single paisa in 4 years. not even for air filter, oil change or even single nut replacement

No issues.)

This was a fantastic video. It just validated my first second-hand car which I purchased 3 months back and my analysis revolved around the usage of it for 3 years and then buy a new hybrid SUV.
The point where he said keep looking and looking for the cars is so true
I am in search of a SH car in mumbai but the prices are so inflated. Even if i like the vehicle i would give them my price which i can buy at and simply move on and look for other one because the options are totally endless
Its all about keep constantly searching.
Amazing cars 🤩

To take your car for inspection at a VW/Skoda Service Center, first, they will ask for proof that you own the car. Then, they will check if you bought the car from their showroom. After that, they will decide whether to inspect your car. This is what I think happens, but please correct me if I'm wrong.
This is not entirely accurate. I recently called jai skoda in gurgaon to enquire about an inspection of a second hand car. They gave me a quote of 3500 without any of the clauses you mentioned above

Great video , please make a video giving info regarding how to calculate depreciation of 2nd hand cars brand wise .

Really loved the explanation…
Want to know buying skoda rapid petrol with 70k km for 4 lacs which is 8 years old.. is it worth for a second hand car?
Glad you liked the video! Hard to comment on your choice. Rapid is a solid, reliable car. 70K can be considered if it has been well maintained with care by the owner. Check for Service records, get an inspection done by Skoda and maybe then take a call! Good luck with your decision and let us know what you decide :)
while depreciation is less for second owner compared to first owner - maintenance is significantly higher for second owner.
This depends on a case by case basis - I wouldn't paint all second hand cars with the same broad stroke. This is where due diligence, car inspection, reference check of seller comes in. It takes time and effort, but sometimes the returns can be worth the effort :)

Can you recommend a car under 7L for Delhi? Preferably one with low maintenance and reliability.
Honestly I have a swift that I bought 1st hand in 2020 for about 5L on road. I’m a big fan of its reliability, how fun to drive it is and how it looks. The prices have increased since then but I’d highly recommend it - hard to go wrong with a swift

Would love to research on this and cover this in another video.
However, the short answer for now is that there isn't unfortunately much that can be done in such cases :(
Your best bet is to find a buyer and sell in neighbouring states such as Haryana, Rajasthan, UP, or even other states that don't have these restrictions.
There is also the possibility to get the registration of the car extended by another 5 years after getting a fitness test done, etc. - but not sure if that's already in place or if that's still at the discussion stage in terms of government's policy. I'd have to do more research on this to be able to say for sure.
Great video!! loved the info! can’t wait for more.

I end up liking a car Renault Duster 2014 model, 72k run diesel. Price 4.75 should I go for it?
Thank you for your comment and glad you enjoyed the video :)
Given the car is already at the end of life (almost) reselling it will be difficult for you. Add to it the maintenance costs of a 10 year old diesel car. Hence, your overall cost of ownership will be quite high.
I would use this money elsewhere and either buy a new or a slightly old (3-4 year old) hatchback.

I am getting a tiguan 2022 model, running 63k km , can we explore it ??
Good luck!

Speaking about SUV in used car market, product like Ford Endeavour is stagnant with its pricing and at some places Dealer are asking higher price than previous year pricing
That's ridiculous! I think just because the car is discontinued, dealers feel they can ask for any price. Its the same for Octavia and civic too..
You're spot on. The Endeavour is one of those few cars that almost have a cult following for them in the market (much like the Octavia VRS, for instance). Limited supply + this cult following that only want an Endeavour and nothing else ensure that prices in the used car market always stay high!
Fantastic video man. I’m looking to get a used car. You guys offer any services to make life simple for ppl like me?
Hi Ashish, would want to understand a little more about your needs. Can you drop me a mail at kapoorpranay@gmail.com please?

@12:54 : Top three Toyota, Maruti, Hyundai ?? Actual Top 3 is Maruti, Hyudai and Tata
This was more from a depreciation standpoint and not from a market share standpoint. When it comes to market share - you're right
No way Tata is at top 3 in any category. It just sucks.
Super valuable and intresting as an Australian listening:)
Oh wow, how did this video reach Australia 😂
Hi @PranayKapoor, great video, just need a suggestion. Im getting a hyundai venue which is 2021 model 21k driven for a 8lakh price, which costed him around 10.5 lakh on road. Is it a great deal to consider? 😊
Few questions that you should consider:
1) how much is a new one for now?
@@pranayk37 wow what a explanation

what would be the best price from Ertiga VXI CNG=petrol, first owner, Sept 2017. Around 55k driven.
Hi, I'm not sure. You can maybe look at the price of a new Ertiga on road and assume a 40-50% depreciation on it to arrive at a figure? Given it's a Maruti, it will command a slight premium over other brands.
Very good video explaining the current scenario of buying used cars .. i also believe that if its written the car will come to you .. i never thought will buy a innova but bought one from a known person and its worth every penny...
I need your suggestion in buying a well maintained vw taigun topline 1.0 TSI MT , 7k kms driven, 2022 model but 2023 feb registered. He is quoting 15.5 l. Is it a good buy ?
A new car on road is around 19, correct? So this is about 20% cheaper which isn't bad but it isn't a no brainer either.
Here's what I suggest, explore a new car with skoda. They have crazy deals on 2023 manufactured models. I got a new slavia style 1.5 tsi AT for 16 on road. On the 24th of every month, they release deals on their website. Check that out once before you buy this
Eyy, this was a great convo, the 2nd car market and the new car market both seem to have gone bonkers in last 2-3 year.
and BTW, pretty good format too.
Glad you liked it, thank you for your comment!
Hi , I’m Shankar this side from Blore. Just a while ago Watched your video. Quite an informative one. Brother needed your helping hand. Planning your pick up a used car from Delhi market. Can you please recommend few trusted & reliable dealers & any third party inspection service company. Your help will be much appreciated
i'm also planning to do the same. Also from Blore. don't know the future of diesel as well.
Can you drop me a mail at Kapoorpranay@gmail.com. Easier to share there
Any suggestion for first time car buyer? I was thinking for a 2nd hand amaze at 5.5L or a new Tiago at 7L ( If its a 2nd hand I don't want to spend more than 5-5.5 as I have no prior car owning experience and am unsure about recurring costs it will attract over time) Also my usage would be probably 500kms max in a month.
Hi, thanks for your question. Can you share more details about the amaze? How old/new is it, how many km has it done?
@@pranayk37 Its a 2018 - reg 2019 amaze S petrol at 43k kms. (Negotiable to maybe 5 - 5.1). Is there any other car I should look out for at the same range my only priority is safety and less cost of maintenance as running won't be much.
Thanks for your reply! More such videos will definitely help in gaining invaluable insights from you both😌
Got it. So my parents have an amaze and I've driven it a fair bit. It definitely feels safe to be in one, though the ncap rating isn't the best. If safety is your first priority, tata motor cars are top notch in terms of build quality, you could probably go for the Tiago. This segment is flooded with cars from Hyundai and maruti - both are quite unsafe and so your choices are limited. Let us know what do you finally decide to go ahead with ❤
Is it okay to get 2016 Skoda superb 1.8tsi ran over 55k kms the price owner mentioned is 14.75lakhs should I get it ? And what are things I should check before getting it ( owns 2016 Vento tdi automatic only problem I got is injector fault I had no other issues with my Vento) can anyone who owns an petrol superb give their review of there car please 😊
The car has 7 years of life remaining. And paying 14.75L means annual cost of ownership of 2.1L
I'll let you decide if that's something you're comfortable with, depending on the condition of the car, etc
Great stuff !
Very informative
Glad you liked it!
I’m currently looking for a Kodiaq
Even with the recent discounts, after watching your video, it makes sense to go for a used one. Will start the hunting 😅
Whatever you do, please ensure it has sufficiently warranty under its belt. Good luck and great choice!@@joejpunnooran9526
I bought a 2017 Creta diesel at 2023 for 8.25 lakhs. Its 40k driven good condition (no work at all since past 6 month drove 10k+ kms). I know it sounds like i got rigged.
But i really didn't have any other option beleive me there was no better deal available in Mumbai on Creta diesel or a better car on that budget .
Can yoh please share your thoughts ?
If it's serving you well, it's the right decision. Don't second guess yourself 😁
@@pranayk37 Thanks for ur kind words. Yes I am of the same opinion it's a very comfortable and smooth car loving it. I can drive it around 1.5lakh kms comfortably from what I've seen but only thing is , if Mumbai had a ban like Delhi on diesel car I'm screwed.
How do you pay 32 lakhs? EMIs? Or cash?
Just from a financial prudence standpoint, i feel it's better to save up and buy without a loan, especially if it comes at an 11-12% for a used car.
Buy new car on 8% interest..4lakh down payment...rest invest swp..u will be in profit
That's a great suggestion, thank you!
However, with respect to the specific car that you mention, few things to consider:
Yes this is informative video ❤
Thank you, glad you found it helpful!
Buying a car itself is risky as any day Gadkari can come and say complete ban on ice vehicles and you'll be screwed 😂
Do cars have karma attached to them?
Never thought about that, but elaborate more?
I am getting alcazar prestige Diesel for 17 lakhs 2022 model .. 45k runs..should i go for it..same car new is for 20 lakhs..
Any scope to negotiate more? This is barely 15% depreciation which is not enough imo
Alcazar sucks. It handles way worse than Creta. For 17L get new Creta or Seltos.
What about the interest on loan for second hand car?
That's a really good point, thanks for your comment. We'll try and cover this separately
The only issue I see is that it's a diesel and if you're in NCR it only has 4 years of life left. Hence the effective cost of ownership is rather high
Great Advice, thank you. Subbed :)
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing
How do you finance a second hand car
There's a few options.
The organised players in the space (e.g. Spinny, Cars24) have now started offering loans on used cars through their own financing arms as well as through partners. Even the unorganised, standalone dealers nowadays have financing partners that help get a loan on used cars. Lastly, some banks/ financial institutions can be approached directly for loans on used cars as well.
I enjoyed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GREAT INFO PRANAY BHAI.......!!!
Thanks for your comment, glad you found it useful!
Can help with a valuation matrix for car in % vs years depreciation
This is hard to make given the market is so dynamic. There is no thumbrule
Super awesome buddy, thank for the info
Thank you for your comment, glad you enjoyed it!
Purely because you want it for the long term and diesel will not give you long term
Peace of mind.
Even the ones from 2008 & 9 are reliable if taken care of.

prsche boxter s 2015 bought in 2022 for 48 lakhs and now getting 69
Really hard to believe.. How does that even work in India with the stupid lifespan rule of 15 years.
Have they stopped selling this in india? In which case it can be believed! Are you selling it though?
