I paid for a VIP meet and greet with Ian Brown after one of his gigs, it was a room of maybe 15-20 people. He turned up about 90 minutes late for it, took one step in the door, looked at the crowd and said 'nah, I ain't having this' and walked back out.
None of us where even mad, it was pure Ian Brown behaviour. Very aloof character. 😂

Aloof? The man is just straight up rude, made some great music but not a great man. Threatening an air stewardess that he'll cut her hands off at the wrists is not cool, it's utter twat behaviour.

It's how you want a rockstars to be, my fave was always Mark E. Smith, another Manc. Fall gigs were the best, Mark had a knack of making you feel so unwelcome, like every gig was just a hinderance and he always looked like he wished he was somewhere else, you almost felt guilty just for turning up to a Fall gig! 🤣Greatest ever British band though!

Both LG and NG were hugely influenced by Stone Roses. Ian walks (in place) about 20 miles in a concert and never really goes anywhere. Ian Brown is a very good front man and quite deep, positive thinker. Mani, John and Reni are top top top at what they do. So do Fools Gold next!

@@davidcorbett1713 It was. What a top night. One minute I'm sat at work getting calls from mates and seeing rumours online to just saying to my boss, I'm going home. No explanations or anything. Then I'm riding my bike from work to the Parr Hall to get a ticket only to miss out by around 10 people. Luckily my wife had gone there earlier and got a wrist band for her, the kids and my son's mate, which was then given to me. I never thought I'd even get it on my wrist it was that tight.
Straight into town and it was like everybody I'd ever knew was there. Mates, old mates, people from school. It was incredible. What a night. I didn't even go to Heaton Park in the end because I didn't think it could ever get better than that night.

The Stone Roses, The Happy Mondays and Inspiral Carpets were the cornerstones of the madchester scene, You've done two of the three I recommend "She comes in the fall" live when you do the Inspirals. They were the band that got Noel into the music business, hired him as a roadie and showed him how to run a band! Ian Brown and John Squire were 10 years older than me and went to Altrincham Grammar School, less than 200 metres from the pub I grew up in and that we still run to this day. Ironically, Oasis base guitarist , Bonehead, moved to Hale after success and was a regular in our pub for years until quitting the booze. The Smiths also attribute Panic and The Hand that Rocks the Cradle to being written less than a mile from the pub. Tyson Fury, Ricky Hatton, Steven Spieblerg (in the 80's), countless ex and present Manchester United and numerous other Premier League footballers, Rugby World Cup winners, England Rugby Captain's, England Cricketers, European PGA Golfers, Soap Stars etc visit the pub, several on a regular basis. Man City players even celebrated the Premier League Title in our pub in 2018. You walk in and it doesn't matter who you are, everyone is treated the same. You're just another customer and the locals treat you like anyone else, that's why they love to come. The Railway inn, Hale

Me and a few mates were doing a U symbol with our hands at him, it was a gang symbol he saw us and started dancing doing it back 🙌.. then my mate threw a Scotland flag at him, he picked it up and started dancing with it. What a gig, really brings back memories.
During this gig I'm sure he started fighting with the sound guy, then started spinning the mic about hitting it off the ground.

This was the opening track of their debut album in 1989. That brooding base line that slowly faded in. The superb little solos of John Squires guitar. That sublime swagger of Ian Browns vocals. The problem is that Ian Brown is really bad singing live. This is one of his best performances that I have seen and that is probably because he was obviously more concerned with what was going on off stage than his actual vocals. I was there at the Reading Festival in 1996 when I heard this live for the first time. That base line. That swagger. When he started to sing the crowd was pleading with him to stop singing and to just let Mani and Reni solo.
