    Great!!!
Fools Gold (Full version) is amazing, with a long instrumental that really shows their unique sound…
John Squire is one of the best guitarist to come out of the U.K.
Alan Wren (Reni) is arguably the best drummer of his generation, globally.
Only 2 albums, because of legal problems. But still one of the best bands ever to come out of the U.K.

So pleased you both enjoyed the Roses. They were huge in 89/90 in the UK and definitely spearheaded a movement everyone called 'Madchester' at the time (Britpop kicked in around '94), because the key bands (Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, Inspiral Carpets etc) were from Manchester. Heavily influenced by the acid house culture, they fused indie guitar music and dance music in a way no one had done before really. Also their music was so upbeat and positive (even arrogant), which was a much needed change from the earlier 80s Manchester indie music (The Smiths etc.). If you get a chance, listen to 'I am the Resurrection' from that legendary first album. The closing guitar solo is epic, possibly one of the best ever. th-cam.com/video/57ajn-NXtdc/w-d-xo.html .

I'd argue with your comment about a much needed change re The Smiths....they were just....different. I loved both. I saw them at the Ally Pally gig in London and it was very special.

All these tags and so on are so meaningless - they were basically playing a more poppy filtered rockpop from a sort of 80s goth era also, Britpop etc these tags were just commercial and used politically

Thats the opening track to the greatest debut album of all time.
When they released this they had the best guitarist for a generation, the best bass player of a generation and the best drummer of a generation.
The cultural significance of this album in the uk is still being felt today, its influence was and still is massive and that is no understatement, every single significant band to come out of the UK since 1989 has spoken about this album and its influence, even U2 said it was a huge part of what they were listening to when recording Achtung Baby...
Adored is not even in my top 10 Roses songs and its still a 10/10 lol

The Stone Roses were part of the big music scene in 80/90s called indie music, stands for independant music, from Northwest bit like grunge was to seattle< Manchester was getting callled Madchester, as most of the music was from here! Were more working class up here were tough but friendly! It became really cool to be from Manchester!! Remember loads of kids who wanted to go to uni up here as it became that massive!! Having a Northern accent was cool too! Great times to be a teenage as I only live 20 mins from Manchester and the club the Hacienda was big place to go too! Noel Gallagher from Oasis was roadie for Stone Roses too! Bands like Happy Mondays,Inspiral carpets,The Farm, James, The Charlatans Smiths loads more all became part of the baggy scene as flared jeans and bucket hats became part of the indie Manchester look!
