- Nothing Phone 2a vs Galaxy A54 Speed Test - Nothing Phone 2a was just unveiled to the world and today we have a speed test comparison against the Galaxy A54 to test its performance and show you how it performs in multiple different areas. Nothing Phone 2a comes rocking a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 pro 8 core 4nm CPU with 8/12GB of RAM and comes with an 8GB of RAM booster along with a hyper-engine 5.0 to smooth out gaming frame rates. The Galaxy A54 comes rocking an Exynos 1380 5nm CPU coupled with 6GB of RAM and Android 14 with One UI 6.1. Nothing Phone 2a as of the recording of this video has Android 14 and Nothing OS 2.5.3. Hello! Glad to hear you love the content! Honestly they both feel similar both plastic frames, nothing feels lighter and bigger with a more unique design, the Samsung while nice feels like a cheaper but more basic S phone

I definitely believe you. Nothing does an amazing job with the UI! Pixels are like this too. You could talk about benchmarks for a whole month IDC the Pixel UI is just smoother. It's got that super buttery slippery-ness that honestly even beats out the iPhone ui sometimes. Sure maybe it renders 8k HDR video slower or some other insane thing 99.9% of nobody ever does on their phone but the UI is what really matters. It's what we use all day every day.

just looking at the video i can say color calibration is pretty bad on nothing display . Hope they give option to calibrate hue,saturation etc or maybe put standard calibration profile like sRGB.

In India the nothing phone 2a costs ₹25999($315) for 256gb rom 8gb ram and the A54 for the same specifications costs ₹35000($420) which is a pretty high difference. So I guess the 2a is a better option for me

I got the A54, but with 8gb of ram and my phone doesn't lag like that. All the videos I've seen that say the phone lags have 6gb ram

The camera is a big no on the Phone2a. If i am buying a mid range phone, i will most probably use it as a day to day device which puts the camera priority higher on the list.

Despite the improvements in one UI 6, Samsung still has extremely laggy animations (you can clearly see that when you close the camera app) specially in the A series so the nothing is better even though the nothing seemed like it froze for a second everytime you closed an app. Please do the same test again when the galaxy A55 is released and the pixel 8a too
If it was the 8gb ram on the A54 you would not see that lag. But different regions come with different size ram

Samsung A54 seems better for raw chip performance, they just need to optimize the One UI skin better and the A54 could have beaten out the Nothing 2a, even on a phone like the S23U, sometimes you get stutters because they don't optimize their animations all too well, apparently the animations are a lot better on One UI 6.1 but we'll have to see. And the ram just isn't enough for 2024, but also its a bit unfair that you used the RAM Plus equivalent on the Nothing phone but not RAM Plus on the A54.

I compared my old iphone 11 pro max(4-5 years old now from my closet) to my Dad Galaxy A54 and I’ll say had the same performance(disregard the antutu) at least base on my experience so flagship from 2019 is now comparable to midrange devices from now the only difference is the animations but both having a hiccup sometimes.
How is 2(a) an upgrade from phone 1 ?
It has a plastic body, less glyph lights, ufs 2.1.

The screen color science on the 2a is definitely better than the A54. The white on the A54 has a blue tint.
2A has a nice balance of saturation and accuracy a lot like an iPhone
