- Building a Bushcraft Camp on a New Zealand Beach and spending the night solo.
I make a tripod to set up a plow point tarp shelter, build a fire pit and practice the burn bowl method of carving a spoon.

Thanks for watching guys.
Does anyone know what those bugs crawling under the rocks were?
Cheers
Na. Sorry cant help there.
Sounds like the "mount Mauler"
Yep - they're what we used to call "sand hoppers". Very common on NZ beaches everywhere. They also nip bare skin, so beware...
Sand fleas
New Zealand looks amazing.
It sure is a beautiful place.
Thanks for watching!
Cheers
Now we talking. Those sausages sent me straight to the kitchen
Haha cheers bro. They sure tasted good!
Thanks
Absolutely awesome bro. Your bushcraft skills are straight up educational to me. I'm sure a lot of tasks don't come easy but you clearly have a sound foundation of research and determination to make them work
Thanks bro. It's not all plain sailing, there is a lot of trial and error but I enjoy the learning process. Glad you are maybe learning something aswell.
Cheers mate.
Suggestions maybe don't pitch your fly down wind from your fire 🔥 👍 Good video
Thanks haha. Always learning.
Another excellent video, thanks.
Thanks mate. It was a good time.
Cheers
Silver fern makes great birds nest.🌿

Cheers
I really enjoyed watching this, a very cool video.
Thank you very much. Also just remembered I've got your guys new video to catch up on.
Cheers
Great video I really enjoyed this very nice and relaxing video. They're called a sand scarab beetle. They are native to New Zealand, and are found on beaches throughout New Zealand. That was a great attempt on the spoon. Next time you'll get it (- ; Beautiful sunset scenery of the ocean. I really enjoy watching all your videos. Thanks for your great entertainment.
Thanks very much! And yes I think you are right about the sand scarab so thanks for clearing that up! Really glad you enjoyed the video.
Cheers
Thats the life dude, you cant beat it! Especially in good old Aotearoa
Thanks Floyd!

Excellent! Enjoyed watching your video brother! Take care my friend 👍🏽👍🏽👌🏽😎🇬🇧
Thanks alot dude. It's appreciated 👊
Never knew you had a drone, like the tripod and knot, very clever.
Yeah I've had it for a while. I've only used in a few videos.
It's the only way I tie a tripod now since I found out about it. Super handy.
Cheers Dave
@@BackcountryKiwi I've been thinking about a compact drone for my channel but concerned about the authenticity or look for my primitive bushcraft. battery & the legals?
Yeah this wasn't on DOC land so it was all good. But the reason I haven't used mine much is you have to get a permit from DOC for each area you want to fly in. Costs money and is a pain in the ass.
Cheers
Mean video, love all your tricks and tips, keep up the great vids 👍

Bankline was just from Amazon.
Hey bro, you look like Mikel Damsgaard!!
Haha I'll take that as a compliment!
Cheers
also what sleeping mat was that?
Thermarest Neo air x therm.
It is pretty pricey, I got mine second hand and it still wasn't cheap but it is IMO one of the best mats out there.
Hasn't let me down yet.
Cheers
Where can I get a knife/chopper like the large one you use ( the one with the leather sheaf)
Great vlogs
Regards Jim ( got a six week trip to the South Island in October)
Hey Jim.
The knife was made for me by Caleb Cox on the BCUSA forum. The style of knife is known as a tracker or WSK. A decent manufactured model would be the tom brown tracker by TOPS.
Hope that helps.
Enjoy your South Island trip! It's a beautiful place.
Cheers
Awesome vid bro. Where did you get that grill plate from?
Amazon I think! Thanks for watching!
👍👍💙💙🌹🌹
Thank you 😊
Hey brother, im from NZ as well... What beach or town is that? looks nice and remote away from our crazy society lol...
You not have to say exactly was just wondering what area as it looks nice and peaceful as most beaches have towns associated close to them in NZ lol
Hey man this was on the West coast south island towards karamea.
Cheers!
Looks so beautiful down in Karamea. Never been there before
Nice 👍 one great outdoors nice bush craft 🔪 knife and sheath wouldn't mind one of those von tempskey Bowie knives what make is the one your using ? Great video keep up the good work 👍
Cheers mate. The knife I'm using is a custom tracker style knife. I have a awesome forged bowie which I'll have to take it out at some point. Thanks for the support.
Looks like a william collins style knife
Got any links to the knife?
@@jasonedwardledburynewzeala9897 It is a one off custom made by Caleb Cox on the BushcraftUSA forum so I don't have a link sorry.
@@BackcountryKiwi should last you a life time if you look after it

Take the ridges out of your ferro rod with a file. And coarse sander paper.
Thanks, my ferro rod wasn't ridged but it is more used in the middle so it makes it a bit more awkward to use.
Cheers
