Late stoneage technology was still advanced enough for cultures not just to survive and but to actually thrive. It's engineering and art combined with ingenuity. This is the most impressive and genuine survival clip on TH-cam.
This gives me nostalgia of the first time I saw Les Stroud's Survivorman as a kid. Your primitive survival skill is just unparalleled by anyone I've seen who makes these types of videos. I truly wish you had a production crew so I could see the maximum potential of your skills and knowledge. Hats of to you sir.
Thank you very much.
Biting the head of the fish, “I don’t have a knife..so he’s dead” had me cracking up
that was crazyyyy i was like aint no way this dude just bit that niga like he aint got no fam or past
Absolutely amazing! You made 1,000's of years of Oceanic traditions come to life. I really appreciate this as a life long learner of Pacific cultures and history.
Mr. Clay... Crazy crafting skills you have. I actually got stuned with the auto-drilling method to make fire... I mean I know other methods and watched other people follow the principle, but you took it way further, and I mean not just the drill... The basket, the raft, the glue, every tiny peace you crafted you did it with so much care and quality. Really impressed by you sir, respect.
Thanks for taking the time to watch the full video. Cheers mate
@@ClayTallStories Why was the stone in the fire maker / drill? To add weight? To stabilize it?
@@Wizard_of_the_Towerfor the momentum and the weight
One of the best solo survival videos I have ever seen !!!!!!!!!! Well done Clay !!! Please keep em coming !!!
That is a pretty humbling comment mate. Thanks for the bottom of my heart.
@@ClayTallStories I agree with Pitt, I've watched other survivalist/campers and I assure you I like them and all, but you amazed me beyond of what I expected. Really great time watching this video and you are an incredible handy-craft-man. Well done.
the island with bear grylls is a joke to you? women vs men episodes are the best
@@ClayTallStories Thank you the interessting video. But on 17:23 you are wrong. Horse Hoof Fungus is not Chaga. It is also known as Tinder Fungus. But Chaga is something completly different. Chaga grows in cold climate zones and not only looks very different, it grows different and is not usefull for making fire. It is a very healthy fungus tho. Also Tinder Fungus is quite healthy, bc it is anti-inflammatory and therefore usable for tea making.
Sorry that comment was not for your video. It somehow ended up here was for a different guys channel. Not sure how that happened. But you my friend are legit. My bad
Hey clay I grew up without a father in Blenheim , thanks to your videos I was able to motivate myself to go out and catch my first fish. Cheers mate
That's awesome buddy. Cheers
You're not just entertaining, you're an inspiration.
Truly the best survival video I've seen to this date
Just to let foreigners know, the passion fruit, figs and peaches, gooseberries, walnuts, and others are not native plants, these are plants that have gone wild out of someones homestead. New Zealand had VERY few fruit or vegetable native plants, before Europeans brought things from overseas. And what we did have, modern people wouldn't recognise as viable food, they are nothing like modern fruit. And most of what we did have needed a LOT of careful preparation to take poisons out of it. The Kawakawa berry he ate to begin with, five would give you strong stomach cramps and the runs, 20 would give you CRIPPLING pain.
Good point mate 👍
@@ClayTallStories That flax descent made my eyes stick out on stalks.
:) That is a nice spot you have found there mate. :)
Good info thank you
͜
Thank God for Europeans.
34:50 "this is the life for me boys" you know this guy found a kick ass life
I am one of those anxiety ridden folks secretly wishing they could do what you do. Thank you for the transitive experience! Your skills are absolutely amazing
you can, until you realize its all in your head and nothing is stopping from doing this tomorrow except yourself. It boils down to you just dont want to, generally speaking.
@@flum4us Nothing is stopping you from just doing it tomorrow. But If you do, you will probably just fucking die though 😆 To live like that even for a week you need to be physically fit, healthy and very knowledgable to survive in the wilderness. There is a reason why most people who were ever born never even managed pass on their genes. They died before they had a chance.
@@flum4us Ahhh yes anxious people love not doing anything and it's an absolute choice. Thanks for the insight.
Don't wish. We are 8 billions people on the planet, if everyone starts doing the same thing as the guy in the video does, there will be no nature left, no bird, no fish, no trees, .... We will destroy everything.
been there
but yesterday I came home from my first solo camping trip and I can't believe Ive waited this long
it's really just in your head, don't let that keep you from living
Watching you eat that fish really put things in perspective... How hard reality hits. So much preparation and knowledge required just to acquire that little meal. It must have tasted so good. Bless you and thank you.
Nothing short of amazing. Probably the most resourceful and knowledgeable person I've seen on any survival challenge anywhere. I can barely change my own light bulbs.
This dude is a survival genius. Amazing to watch!
the amount of joy i got watching that piece of smoldering scrub burst into flame was one of the most satisfying things i ever seen. great video Clay
Clay, I watch all of the survival channels and you are at the top of the class. Such a display of knowledge and presented in a wonderful way. Thank you sincerely for this world-class content!
Thank you for injecting some thought and positivity into this heart warming validation.
He made a drill out of stone and sticks!!!! Then he made fire with it!!! That's the craziest thing I've ever seen! I'm astonished by everything you built in this episode, you got yourself a lifetime subscriber!
...hieremai, companion of the native ways!...what a teacher you prove to be!...I am so grateful to have found your site!...on go and well be, good man!...
Well done!! You accomplished a lot in only 6 days. NZ is a gorgeous country. Thanks for all your work in sharing your adventures.
I never thought I would utter these words, but with all of the TV and internet survivalist channels out there, past and present, Survivorman Les Stroud has always been my go-to for realistic survival tips and living. Now I'm forced to say that I think I've actually found someone who not only can match with Les, but in a lot of areas, far exceed him. Such a breadth of knowledge. Thanks for the video.
Seriously one of the best bushcraft survival videos I've ever watched. Definitely subscribed!

Really nice. You`re resourceful and very patient. Seems like you take your time to do things right the first time. Looks like your basket weaving skills came in very handy as well.
that crab/fish trap is a masterpiece
Before I die, If I can try just a tiny little fraction of what you do, I'll die happy. That's 40 minutes of heaven for us lot gawking at the screen, I can just imagine the happiness out there doing it for real. Really great stuff, man 👏🎬👏

This is the best survival show I’ve watched yet
He's smart to take a camera. Cameraman never dies.
I saw a video of a guy filming himself on teaching people how to get out of quick sand, alone by himself in the middle of the woods. Needless to say he didn’t make it and that iconic movie shot of the hand sticking out reaching for something while slowly sinking is 100% accurate and gives me chills now.
@@krameranderson8865 but that meant that he was not the cameraman anymore. The camera survived... didn't it?
@@letmesleepinpeace7052 hmm.. so does that mean whoever touched the camera 3 months after he set it down and uploaded the footage would get the technical credits for cameraman? That could be an interesting stipulation in being a cameraman haha neat point
Never, ever, have I seen a survival video, where the guy could do everything, without anything (tools, snack bars, gear, etc). Simply the best.
He definitely had gear.
- How in the *WORLD* did this man know how to make all of these things!? Truly amazing.
how do you NOT?
@@JingleJoeIs that a necessary response? The vast majority of people don't know these skills.
Nicely edited video. I love the musical drums in between.. got my heart pumping!
Amazing journey! Reminds me of the quote "Someone asked me, if I were stranded on a desert island what book would I bring... 'How to Build a Boat.' by Steven Wright
Clay, your bushcraft skills are legend level. I just love the rare occasion when I see something new hand crafted. A bushcraft kite! Outstanding video.
Thank you very much mate!
Clay, very impressive knowledge and set of skills. I think this is the most authentic 'survival' video I've ever seen. Well done.
Thanks 👍
I agree.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Primitive survival videos have made me feel inspired or amazed before, but adding on hungry is a new one for me! All those fruits looked delicious
"This is The Life for me!" he says, there on the water on a beautiful sunny day, sailing his own private raft chilling (enjoying the fruits of his hard work) and doing some fishing. Cost of all that: 0$. Just a stone and some wood is all... and a sane brain, that most valuable tool of all. Invaluable. And of course a lot of patience to use those extremely basic tools to build better tools and utilities.... He's showing us how "simple" it actually is. You gotta be an engineer (therefore the necessity of a working brain) but man was born with a brain so we were all meant to be good at engineering stuff from the start.
Thank you for sharing these precious moments! Live long and prosper! 🖖🏻
It really show that nature will provide you with more than enough food as long as you know what to look for.
If you are in the right country, in the right season and run home to mom when it gets a bit windy lol.
I hope the rest are like this, because without hesitation I subscribed. Many videos of this genre do not use primitive skills at all. Which is a shame. Our is tool the mind. Our ancestors basically conquered 90% of the surface of the land and water with handmade canoes and spears.
That kite put a smile on my face. Great video Clay, thank you for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it. A smile is what I hope to achieve with my adventures. Cheers
WOW… I’m 40 and I have never seen someone as badass as you 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

That video was AWESOME. Dude, if I ever get stranded on a deserted island, I know a little more than I did before and believe it wouldn't be as bad as originally thought. Love to hunt and fish and this video shows you can survive without one store bought item.
Awesome video, really scratched my "return to monke 🗿" itch. Thank you very much, your flax craftmanship was fantastic and I wasn't prepared for the raft. If you had a village I would happily join you chief!
Loved this video mate. That drill and fish trap you made were bloody amazing 👏🏻

That fish/crab trap is a piece of art, a sculpture.

It depends on what land you are living. I would say just do it and keep everything clean, respect the land, sea and water ways and no one will bother you too much.

I get the impression that your skill with tough long grass is key. Very entertaining to see you in action. To make a sail, a bed, a raft, all good skills.
I actually thought the thick grass weave you made was meant as the seat of the raft.
Clay you are an absolute legend, I've learned a lot from one video already!
