I watched this after watching Into the Wild; about Christopher Mccandless. What a film and true story. Well done mate 🙂🇬🇧. Happy St George's Day (Saturday) 🙏
Cracking that Matt, unlucky mate nit catching but least you had more time than when me and Gary went there, the wind and rain hit us hard. Nice spot to pitch up too there, I've not been round that side fully so I'll remember for the next visit up. The Huba Huba did a Stirling job keeping you both warm and dry. Thanks pal 👍
A man and his rod standing looking over the water... nothing more calming than that Matt. It's not about catching fish .. thst's a biproduct .. it's about being in tune with nature and your surrounds. Great vlog mate fantastic spot to camp and take on the weather. Great to see Poppy out n about. Thanks for this one. Bushyboy Oz.
Great video, thanks Matt. My old bones are feeling the cold more and I’m looking forward to warmer weather. I’ve a new eVent bivvy to play with. Miss seeing your bushcraft but really appreciate your mixed content and different pitches. Especially respect your determination to catch a fish mate 🐠👌👍
What a fabulous place to camp. Nice and cosy with the tent up. Nice to see Poppy earning her keep. You were lucky the tide didn't come in, being so close to the water. Great drone shot.
I especially enjoyed watching you fish. I'm envious of all the running streams, ponds & lakes. So many all dried up stream beds & ponds. I've almost forgotten what rain sounds like inside my tent. Never take for granted all the water in your neck of the woods. Thermarest makes a Trekker chair that slips over your XTherm air mattress. It's comfortable & warm. I use the G Works fuel transfer valve to fill small fuel canisters from larger ones this way I always start out with a full 110gm of fuel & I've not thrown out any empty canister. I keep refilling the 2 I already have. Yes, I'm a subscriber & rang the notification bell. Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada U.S.A.
@@smittylite02 You & I are using the same 4-Plex Soto Windmaster stove. Do yourself a favor, email Soto & ask them for a spare set of O-Rings. Be sure to tell them which stove you have. You might consider ordering a spare Piezo Igniter to have although I've NOT had any trouble with the one that came with my stove.
In my experience, wild camping is a beautiful, simple, spiritual, complete, healing hobby. For about an hour or 2. Then you realise it's 6 hours til bed time and you have absolutely NOTHING to do.
It's just incredible what beauty, what atmosphere you were able to create. This is truly a meditative experience watching you. I myself started making videos about my adventures in bushcraft, so I'm interested in everything. Grretings from Belarus tourist.

Top stuff mate, lovely place for a camp👍🏻 Weather doesn’t know what to do, I caught a big dumping in the Cheviots not too long ago but it’s all gone now! Really enjoyed watching, cheers. Mark
Thanks Matt good video, you know when I used to go on fishing and camping holidays we never filtered our water, we drank many beer though :) in the 70' and 80's just boiled up for a brew. Good to see poppy. Cheers.
Awesome video my friend... I'm an outdoor TH-camr from Northwest Washington, USA. You picked a great place for setting up your tent. Looking forward to more of your adventures. Stay safe out there!
What an amazing spot that is for wild camping. I was there last summer and recognised it instantly. Probably my favourite camping spot ever, went for a swim cause it was so hot! Great video again mate
Such a beautiful spot... even more so when it snowed! ❄️ Shame you didn't catch anything, but then again, fishing isn't always about the fishing, especially with the views you had and the serenity!! The drone footage was amazing too! Looked bloody cold though! 🥶
Great site. I see poppy enjoyed herself. That looked like hail not snow there at first. Little small balls that hit pretty hard....poppy looked glad to be inside the tent. Is there any fish in that lake, doesn't look like there are any. Thanks for the video. Will be waiting on the next ones. Stay safe and Take Care young man. Enjoy the outside.👍
Quality video! Really enjoyed that watch. Must've been carrying some weight with fishing gear, camera, drone, dog supplies and of course beer. Respect mate
Nice to see you hiking with your dog! I used to do it in England and Scotland but my Afghan/Saluki is now 14 years old so long hikes with lots of climbing are becoming difficult. I cannot bear leaving my dog at home when I go out to hike so i guess i will have to wait a while to get back at it. But it's really lovely to hike with a dog, it can complicate things but very much worth it.

Another great video Matt, thats a lovely spot and got it all to yourself except for the deer! Its fairly deep in there and the fish will be quite low so the fishing was never going to be easy. I'd recommend a small, straight forward silver Mepps spinner for the little Brownies.
Thanks Paul, yeah I thought they would still be pretty deep for how cold it is still but worth trying. I actually tried one of those while I was there. Maybe I'll go back there in the summer and have better luck 😁👍🏻
