Solo Wild Camping in the Lake District | The Last Taste of Winter

- Join me as I head out for a solo wild camping trip in the Lake District with my dog Poppy.
After hiking up to a mountain tarn, I set up camp and spend some time fishing, before snow showers set in, forcing us to retreat to the tent for the evening.

In my experience, wild camping is a beautiful, simple, spiritual, complete, healing hobby. For about an hour or 2. Then you realise it's 6 hours til bed time and you have absolutely NOTHING to do.
You get the opportunity to live in the moment. Sometimes having nothing to do is exactly what you need.
And a good nap in the solitude
A perfect example of society these days!
Try taking a book & educate yourself or get lost in a good story
I love the fact that Poppy dog has her own back pack x

Great video, thanks Matt. My old bones are feeling the cold more and I’m looking forward to warmer weather. I’ve a new eVent bivvy to play with. Miss seeing your bushcraft but really appreciate your mixed content and different pitches. Especially respect your determination to catch a fish mate 🐠👌👍

Thanks Matt good video, you know when I used to go on fishing and camping holidays we never filtered our water, we drank many beer though :) in the 70' and 80's just boiled up for a brew. Good to see poppy. Cheers.

Such a beautiful spot... even more so when it snowed! ❄️ Shame you didn't catch anything, but then again, fishing isn't always about the fishing, especially with the views you had and the serenity!! The drone footage was amazing too! Looked bloody cold though! 🥶

Cracking that Matt, unlucky mate nit catching but least you had more time than when me and Gary went there, the wind and rain hit us hard. Nice spot to pitch up too there, I've not been round that side fully so I'll remember for the next visit up.

This video is in the Lake District England , which is a similar land scape to the Scottish highlands but not as vast and wild ..

Nice to see you hiking with your dog! I used to do it in England and Scotland but my Afghan/Saluki is now 14 years old so long hikes with lots of climbing are becoming difficult. I cannot bear leaving my dog at home when I go out to hike so i guess i will have to wait a while to get back at it. But it's really lovely to hike with a dog, it can complicate things but very much worth it.

What an amazing spot that is for wild camping. I was there last summer and recognised it instantly. Probably my favourite camping spot ever, went for a swim cause it was so hot! Great video again mate
