- In today's video, we'll finally be taking a look at a heavily requested lore topic from back in the prime Subnautica days: Lifepod Lore! I'll be telling you everything we know about the other crash survivors, their unfortunate stories and any other facts I'm able to dig up!

A live crew of people that somewhat know what they’re doing, complete with an officer, engineers, a chef, a doctor(kind of), high priority passengers that have a lot of wealth and knowledge, and an emissary that are all determined to get off the planet and have coordinates attached to a safe point where they can regroup?

About the lifepot 3 there are a lot of seaglide fragments scattered around it ,so I think the special battery made it go boom.

No, because in the aurora black box it says only 8 lifepods out of the 25 launched actually made it to to surface intact, and those are all in the game
Although where are the life pods? Possibly some may have had people in them but broke from the hull and landed in the Dead Zone?

Here’s how I think all of them died:
Lifepod 2: Killed by a reaper
Lifepod 3: probably attacked by stalkers
Lifepod 4: Attacked by Reaper
Lifepod 6: Lifepod exploded
Lifepod 7: Bonesharks?
Lifepod 12: Attacked by ampeels and/or Bonesharks, also Danby died from the Kharaa.
Lifepod 13: Unknown, probably damaged by the fall from the aroura
Lifepod 17: attacked by Crabsnakes
Lifepod 19: unknown
The rest probably fell into the void or didn’t make it out of the aroura
Lifepod 19: near the grand reef, gr = crabsquids, they could’ve gotten killed by bonesharks or crabsquids
Lifepod 13: that and in the pda it said something about the temperature
I think that's a fairly solid summary :) .....who knows how many actually ended up in the void.
Ending up falling into the void...oh my god...what a terrifying fate. The sheer empty darkness would be bad enough, but then you hear those deep screams
People in Lifepod 2 probably drowned; Lifepod 4 wasn't attacked, the passanger must have died on impact even though it was intact; Lifepod 12, 13 and 19 were also probably destroyed on impact.
No Lifepods fell into the Void. Most of them were blown up by the Quarantine Enforcement Platform before they could even make it to the surface.

These stories really make you appreciate the safe shallows that you were so lucky to crash in
Oh yeah, absolutely! :)
At first it feels super convenient that of every biome on this dangerous planet you landed in by far the safest one, but in reality you're just one of many other survivors, and you were just really lucky in comparison to them. Had any of the others gotten that luck, they would be the player character.
The story of the other survivors was one of the most touching things for me, when I first played Subnautica. It is great, that you have finally covered it, but I was exspecting to learn more about the lifepods themselves and not their passengers.
Well there is unfortunately nothing else to really learn about the lifepods :)
The Last Bacon I thought so, but I was hoping your bright mind would dig up a few crazy facts, or just theorize about them, based on our knowledge and the appearance of the lifepods. Still a great video. 🙃😄
@@endodouble6691 All we really know, is that they are 2 seater pods of dubious quality designed for aquatic landings.

Bro Ima be honest, when I listened to each person talking in their life pods, I got chills from some of them.
I definitely understand :) - some of them do give me the chills too!
The most disturbing one was Lifepod 13, with the guy talking to god, about reincarnating into sand or something.
Fun fact! I re-listened to the PDA audio that describes Keen and Yu’s voyage/demise, and it turns out that Yu persuaded Keen to voyage to the aurora with her to retrieve a data package, and they were “intercepted by a leviathan-class predator” and that they should be considered “lost at sea” I personally think that Yu died to the reaper, because only Keen speaks, and it could also explain how Keen got away. He might have made it to the small amount of dry land on the other side of the aurora, and died to the explosion. He also could have been killed by a different reaper/ghost leviathan if he ran into another one / wandered into the dead zone. I think it would be a cool Easter egg if they put a PDA with Keen’s skeleton on the dry land on the other side of the aurora.
That would undoubtedly be a nice touch to find his skeleton :) though I'm afraid that after the explosion, most of it would probably be blown to dust.
The weird thing is that his final message is also on that same PDA, not from the radio, indicating that he did make it all the way back to the floating island to drop the PDA there and disappear.

I think he went back to the island, and then was killed by a warper (radio states '9 new biological subjects detected: mode, hunting/analysing)

I wish that the devs would make an alternative version of subnautica, Where the lifepod passengers would’ve survived and you all work together, Perhaps some be NPC’s and others are players (I know it’s not simple but it’s just a idea)
Could definitely make for a very interesting game :) - the human interactions would make for a very different experience!

First time I saw a reaper I was lucky and saw it at a distance I wasnt as lucky with the ghost tho

The way I see it, life pod 4 could have happened two different ways. Either he was indeed eaten by a reaper, or he actually made it to the ship but was caught in the huge explosion

Imagine he actually did make it to the Aurora but the drive core just wasnt feeling it that day. :(

To think, Ryley could have died from a fire onboard their lifepod. But he came to consciousness right when his life depended on it. Also, being knocked out in the pod probably explains why he missed the rendezvous with Keen and Yu. Who knows how long he was in there before the fire started.
Yep! He certainly got very lucky :)
I'm pretty sure its canon that he was unconscious for 3 hours. This would probably put him waking up at around the time of the rendezvous. I dont know how Keen and Yu missed seeing his lifepod on their way to the Auroura
@viniercarp6567 they might not have. It's possible they simply didn't think it was worth checking out, or saw an unconscious Ryley and assumed he was dead
I’m pretty sure the seaglide of the lifepod 3 crew overloaded from the amount of power it was receiving, basically combusting as they both started using as the engineer guy mentioned as a possible outcome “..and that’s assuming it doesn’t overload 2 metres outside the lifepod..” So that could have caused injury as well as made them unable to go faster.
I don’t care what you say, you don’t know true fear until you are cowering in your lifepod as multiple reapers, ghosts and sea dragon leviathans are sitting there throwing your pod around

The PDA in the beginning doesn't say no one survived. It says it can't detect more thatn one lifeform (you) beyond a certain range. It gives the impression that you are alone and survivors may be out of range but there. You also get distress calls from survivors in other pods; unfortunately you never make it to them in time.

Yeah true :) honestly even encountering a living survivor could be great!
Or at least find some signs that they made a bit of progress rather than sitting around to be eaten, like finding some partially assembled little bases not far from their lifepods.

Its even more gruesome that their bodies _can't_ be found... That means by the time you find them they've already been completely devoured and eaten by the indigenous lifeforms.
Always wished after beating the game, you could spawn in a random life pod. See how the original inhabitants could have survived.

Bodies get crushed under big pressure from the sea and that is probably the reason there is no bodies.. This phenominon can be spotted about the Victims of the titanic where over 1700 died but no bodies are on the seafloor

I always imagine the whole unconscious "nap" was less than an hour and I would think that the survivors are meeting their end... or getting ready to.. in real time as I play... messed up to say it out loud when I think about it, but it gives me a slight "cabin in the woods containment breach" feel, makes it slightly more immersive in a cynical way 😅
Fair enough :) I usually think of it in the range of several hours - day simply based on how much time others have had to move around.

The Last Bacon remember when your pda says that the radiation would do something to the animals in 24 hours what would happen if you wait for a day in the game I wonde if less animals spawn
Also. Ive noticed people say that the guy in lifepod 12 was showing symptoms of kharaa way too early. But what they dont take into account is the fact that he had a laceration and was bleeding, allowing the bacterium to not only get into his system faster but progress much faster as his immune system would be compromised due to the laceration.
Yeah it also seems like it affects individuals differently :)
@@TheLastBacon yeah which is pretty realistic as immune strength is different between individuals depending on health and diet, etc. Could explain why Marguerit survived as being a "freelance security personel" would require one to be pretty healthy to survive such a job. That plus the remains of the leviathan she ate producing a form of the incomplete enzyme 42 in its guts. Both factors may have attributed to her prolonged survival.
Tho based of what the logs say about the cured fish when scanned, it makes the ending alot darker. As it states that the bacterium is still present and its just the symptoms that are alleviate. Essentially making Riley and anyone else infected and "cured" asymptomatic carriers that could infect others.
I always just imagine what if when you start, you couldn't escape the seat and burned alive as you see the fire extinguisher right next to you. Just picture how others died in their life pods

Hey bacon, about the occupant of Lifepod 13, you were spot on, he was a Mongolian Emissary for the Mongolian Corporation. Also the fans have given a name to the passenger of Lifepod 6, we are calling her “Karen”. Berkeley was an engineer you learn more about him in the pda in the Aurora near the propulsion cannon fragment, he was the one who the drone “Albert” was messing around with, he and Yu were close friends, despite Yu being the superior officer she treated Berkeley like an equal. He wasn’t as skilled as Yu, but he was still a trained engineer, from the sounds of it Berkeley sadly drowned, and Yu had to abandon him. The land that was mentioned is in fact the Floating Island. Ozzy was killed by a crabsnake.

It's been some months since I last played the game but I still remember their stories. If I remember correctly, the player recieve a message in the radio from one warper saying that there's only one last target, a.k.a. the player, so I think the warpers were the last creature some of the "survivors" saw.
(I still has to finish the game... I only need the materials for the Neptune, yay!)
It's definitely possible that some of the survivors met their unfortunate end at the claws of a warper :)
Well don’t forget that the warpers were keeping tabs on the humans left and report you’re the only one left. I wouldn’t be surprised if they ended a few of those survivors. “Weird shadows”

I think all of this happened simultaneously, I don't think the main character has been out for a long time, as your life pod was on fire, it would end up dying from CO2 inhalation, What happened was that due to the game's limitations, these scenes cannot be seen, example: when we receive the call of alterra, another life pod comments on it.
No I don't think he was out for long either :) I'd imagine some of the survivors might technically still be alive at the time he wakes up.
Electrical fire could have started later rather than at impact and it was the fire that finally woke you up.
Imagine we crashed in sector zero or the dead zone or we landed in the dunes yea hmm

If you think about it, lifepod 4 (the one attacked by the reaper) would theoretically be next to lifepod 5 (Rylees lifepod) when they lauched off. So he was close to a painful death!

About lifepod 7, I honestly think that the Aurora capitan was on that lifepod as I compared a voice log that the Aurora Captain spoke in and the lifepod distress signal when you first get it... It sounds pretty much the same

@@TheLastBacon I guess those that swam away from their lifepods like Berkley, the guy that had the broken fabricator or the Ozzy near the Jellymushroom caves or basically anyone that could have seemingly escape but disappear out of nowhere without a direct explanation, until you consider the Warpers.

CTO Yu and Second Officer Keen made it to the Floating Island, But Yu wanted to look for survivors, a decision which got both of them killed, presumably by Warpers.

I have a feeling life pod 4 may have actually made his goal, considering using creature decoys actually work really well when using them against reapers,I think he may have made it to the ship, I'm probably wrong here but the passenger may have gotten on to the ship but ended up losing his life from the explosion or maybe fire on the ship

I think Yu and the other person in lifepod 2 where technicians as on the Aurora in I lab their is a pda with Yu making the upgraded propulsion cannon
The other person was Berkeley, who sadly didn’t make it. But Yu made it to the Floating Island alongside Second Officer Keen, But Yu wanted to look for other survivors, and Keen despite being the superior officer and realizing the island is the safest place, agreed with Yu, and during their search were likely killed by Warpers.
Both Yu, Who was the Chief Technical Officer, and Berkeley was an engineer, were maintenance crew members on the Aurora.

That message was from a pda entry we collected in the Aurora, the message was written by Berkeley, the other person from Lifepod 2, He and Yu were good friends, given that Yu, Berkeley and Ryley (Us) were all maintenance crew members, it might’ve been possible that we knew Yu.

In the distress call for lifepod 17 ozzie also said that "wierd looking snake thing" (probably crabsnakes) are trying to eat through the hull, so he might have died from them

but he was near a reaper and the cave it quite far away. could be a reaper or a crabsnake but it was only them. ( not a sandskark )

I remember going to lifepod 7 and thought that was the dead zone but it was just the crag field and i go through there to go to the sea treaders all the time

The Lifepod 3 guys were arguably the least competent of the bunch. They were like 20m under water in a not particularly dangerous area. You'd think that instead of blowing themselves up with that seaglide they could have swum to the surface first (maybe grabbing something floating) with the parts they had to look for some land - or an intact Lifepod. Riley's one should have been visible from their position!

No, I’d have to say Karen in Lifepod 6.
Even if they’re in the Kelp Forest and there’s stalkers around, those are mostly chill only getting mad if you approach their titanium toys (Aka scraps) and there’s plenty of mats in their proximities, they could’ve survived if not for their dumb idea

We’re did the sea glide in escape pod 5 go? I have a theory:
When you got blacked out, The bottom hatch opened and the sea glide was pushed out by the fire/explosion’s force, this would explain why there’s no sea glide and why the sea glide nearby that you scan is burned up and it could also explain why the first hatch seemed harder to open that the top, because it had part of the sea glide

Yeah they are either dead or close :) and most of the signals probably just come in late yeah.
