On the official Star Wars website today, the editor in chief Kristen Baver wrote that Manny Jacinto's character reveal in The Acolyte was as big a moment in Star Wars as Darth Vader's I AM YOUR FATHER reveal in Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back. Yeah, this really happened.
Star Wars: The Acolyte" is a television series set in the Star Wars universe, exploring the darker and more mysterious aspects of the galaxy far, far away. Set during the High Republic era, the show delves into the time when the Jedi Order was at its peak and the Sith were thought to be extinct.
The story follows a young Force-sensitive woman named Osha who becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue and conspiracy that threatens to unravel the fragile peace of the era. As she discovers her connection to the Force and her own latent powers, Osha must navigate political turmoil, ancient secrets, and the resurgence of dark forces that challenge the Jedi's ideals.
The revealing of Padme being one of her handmaidens in Episode I, is more impactful than the entire Acolyte episodes.

Honestly it's an apples to oranges comparison. Duel of Fates is closer to the sabre/bo staff fighting (to quote Obiwan: "A more elegant weapon of a more civilized age.") which George Lucas based on actual sabre/fencing techniques. Credit where credit's due Dafne Keen (Jecki) & the other Jedi are trying to use the various lightsaber forms the EU came up with (if poorly outside of Ms. Keen, who actually does a good job), but the fight with Smilo Ren lacks the elegance of Duel of Fates and comes off more like a street brawl until Jecki fights the Sith 1v1.
It's definitely an improvement over some of the Sequel lightsaber battles though.

How is it a big reveal when we all knew it was Qimir at the beginning of the previous episode. We ALL knew. No one saw Vader being Luke’s father coming. These are not even comparable.
Vader's reveal was as big as moment in film history as Tyler Durden, the Sixth Sense, Usual Suspects. We were FLOORED by those moments. Everyone guessed who this plot armoured schmuck was two episodes ago.
Man how can you compare Darth Vader I am your father moment to The Acolyte. I was there in 1980 and we all hit the floor when Darth Vader said that. There is no compares.
Critics called that moment the biggest moment in cinematic history. Even james earl jones was blown away.

So far they completely ignored the "Rule of Two" AND ignored why Sith are Sith...it's not just some rainbow flag "just let me use my power the way I see fit." Why is everyone hung up on him being Sith when he says he isn't. He says he has no name, but a Jedi like you would call me Sith. You can have whatever opinion you want about that but it seems pointless to talk about Sith rules when he seems to have no regard for the Sith, or at least does not include himself among them.
I would guess he is a Knight of Ren. Were they not dark side practioners who were not Sith? Didn't they all wear masks? Isn't his mask similar to all the Knights that we've seen?

The Acolyte reveal's impact doesn't lessen on repeat viewings -- it has zero impact the first time you see it, and zero impact subsequently.
This reveal was even more pathetic than Kylo Ren taking his helmet off almost immediately in TFA.
The only thing that can save this is yoda appearing and taking every one of them out then wiping coneheads memory

And when I saw Darth Qimir, I just went meh, laughed... as predicted from episode 2. The hate on Star Wars Theory is unfounded as he is quite positive and when he is , the Disney Star Wars lovers love him but when his opinions doesn't go along with their opinions, well he is like the rest of us. Pure hypocrisy by the Disney Star Wars lovers.

Missing the RESCUE of Luke suddenly arriving in Red 5 and slicing up the Dark Troopers, that was more epic then all previous mentioned moments, rivaling maybe ESB Vader-Luke moment.

Even the *_fans of the show_* (and yeah, they do exist) were all going 'Qimir's the big bad/the Sith'. This reveal was painfully obvious for everyone watching.
The only interesting reveal was the short 'lightsaber dagger' Qimir had, but that's it.
Anyone with half a brain saw this "reveal" coming weeks ago. NOBODY saw, "I am your father." coming. You're talking one of the greatest plot twist reveals in movie history.
I guarantee if you put the Echo Base Network crew,Critical Drinker,Nerdotic and Doctor Disaster to name a few In a room and had them write a Star Wars movie and have the top fan made video creators produce and direct it would be one of the best Star Wars films ever.but we get garbage for 190+ mil.
I knew who the masked villain was as soon as I saw his tattooed arms when he was fighting. I truly was disappointed, because with Disney's DEI crap, they hired a short male to play a powerful character. If the "force is female", then a tall strong female would be the Sith of choice!

For the Darth Vader reveal, back in 1980, I was probably 8 or 9 years old, barely spoke any English, but knew enough to understand the words "I am your father", my jaw dropped to the floor and that moment will probably stay with me for the rest of my life. I have noticed that recently IG/FB are pushing a lot of posts (from people I don't follow) praising The Acolyte, doing various mental gymnastics to justify the plot holes etc, and of course, attacking anyone who disagrees. Didn't experience such phenomenon for Kenobi, Ashoka, or Boba Fett, I guess Lucasfilm's PR department must be really desperate? 🤭

Not sure if it was in EU but cortossis was in the flashback storyline with Thrawn and Anakin in Thrawn: Alliances. IIRC, the substance made strong armor that blasters couldn't penetrate (don't remember if it had any effect on lightsabers) that was offered to the Separatists (with clone armor made out of it as well) by agents of the Grysk.
It is time the previous Star Wars fan abandon the Disney Star Wars & just be with the OT. Star Wars ends when George Lucas sold it. After being sold all tales & story pass the OT is legend.

This might be reaching, but what if the episode is also called "Night" as an obscure homage to the Star Wars Battlefront II Rise of the Empire mission "Knightfall" (and in all likelihood, the scene of Anakin and the clones marching on the Jedi Temple more specifically). Sith reveal themselves and their intentions in both instances, in episode III and the dreckolyte

The funny part of Acolyte Ep. 5 is LH bragging about how great the lightsaber fights were. You could literally put every TH-cam short of Mike Starwalker up on a board, throw a dart, and hit something better than that.

I remember when I learned Darth Vader was Luke's father. My two best friends lived next door, they were twins one month younger than me. We were talking over the fence and they had just seen Empire and told me Darth Vader was Luke's father. I was so excited and couldn't wait to see the movie. I ran and excitedly told my older brother. He is 7 years older than me. He was so mad that I spoiled it. I am not bothered by spoilers. I call out the twist and reveal early in shows/movies I have no pre-knowledge about. My wife can't believe how many times I am right. Tropes are gonna trope.
Its honestly so sad that after waiting decades for a proper sequel trilogy, and despite being hopefully optomistic for the acquisition by Disney, we we're all completely let down. Access media attempting to gaslight everyone holding their beloved franchises to a higher standard by accusing us of being the problem, its utterly laughable. If you go to a fancy restaurant and order a steak, but are served a steaming pile of shit on a plate, are you wrong as the customer for not appreciating the served up shit? I don't like hating on fandoms but for example if I were to say that the twilight fandom has some toxic fans in it I know that they would see me as just a hater. I don't like the twilight movies but I will never send death threats at those people or judge them for liking it. So I don't get WHY is it so hard to let people like or dislike something these days.
If companies could just recognize that if the show they make is bad then they will have to accept other people's opinions and do better. If it's good and people like it then process your own thinking on WHY they like it and work on keeping their interests.
For mandalorian I liked the father son travel partnership that you know in the end one person would have to give up something for the other. For Grogu's case safety. Mando had to give up Grogu for his own safety. In the Kenobi novel Kenobi gave up a chance with a happy family for duty and in turn bonded to Luke despite his past emotions with Anakin.
Self sacrifice is just one of the GREAT teachers in a good story.
The Darth Maul double saber reveal wasn't shocking at all since it was revealed in the very first TPM teaser nearly half a year before the movie came out. Rey catching the saber in TFA wasn't shocking at all cos she Mary Sued her way through the whole movie, so why wouldn't she do it here too? What a plank.
If you couldn't figure out who Smilo Ren was before the "reveal", you have no business writing anything beyond your own name.

The episode is called Night. Yeah, it's dark but the play on words seems obvious.
I wasn’t alive when the OT was released in theaters, but I don’t think too many people were able to guess that Vader was Luke’s father. For those that were, was it predictable or was everyone shocked at, “No, I am your father.”
The minimum you can give is half a start out of 5. Which is 10 percent as minimun.
Therefore the score can never get below 10 percent.
