This is a truly historic moment for pakistani dramas! The creators of Tere Bin have been inspired by Marvel and Oscar winning films. This is the first drama to explore the concept of The Multiverse in pakistani dramas. In that fateful moment when Murtassim closed the doors, the fabric of the space-time continuum got ripped apart. To understand all what happened next requires a deep understanding of theoretical and quantum physics, along with theories of relativity by Einstein. There are now 2 parallel but separate stories running in the Tere Bin Multiverse -- one where the assault took place, and the other where it was consensual. Even Christopher Nolan could not have concocted such a magical and twisted moment. Assalam-u-Alaikum Physics ! --- p.s. unfortunately, the main trauma resides with the audience who have now invested so much time into watching an aspirational character (Murtassim), only to be let down by a horrible story.

Instead of calling her names, i actually tried to understand the writer. I listened to her interviews etc. here’s what i’v figured out: she belongs to a feudal background where men are harsh, regressive and often cruel. I heard her justifications of the slap, and she kept saying “how is this a big deal, humaray haan tou hojata hai aisay”. She genuinely does not think thora bohat violence against women is bad because its normal in her culture. I am now 100% sure she does not believe in the idea of “marital rape”. In her mind she wrote a husband taking his haq, and a wife being thora sa upset and then realizing that, oh wait, he was right, it’s actually my fault. Theres no way she anticipated this backlash because she probably thought most women will agree with her.
So Nooran Ji, i wont be too harsh on u. Seems like u are a product of an extremely backwards and regressive feudal upbringing. But most of us are not, and most of us don’t fantasize about being raped by our husbands, no matter how “hot” they are.
RIP tere bin, What a tragedy. May we see Yumna and Wahaj in something worthwhile soon.

What about the content head and her team? Are they also from a feudal background? What about Sirajr? Yumna? Wahaj? Kya TB team ka har insaan feudal background se hai?
We were told slap and spit was added in filming to justify MR. Clearly, this means there was a discussion on set between actors and makers on how to make it look Merub deserves rape. How can you have this conversation and end with hiding Nooran ka ganda plot point by adding more gandapan on top of it.
For the MR track to make it through, and that too in a Romance, is not just Nooran's fault - this is a failure at multiple levels. There are lots of cogs in the machine till we get the final product. Kya yeh saare log MR ko normal samajhte hain? Kya yeh saare feudals hain? Let us not absolve others in the team, including the actors, of their responsibility.

Even if we think ki it was consensual, but every scene is just proving that it was an assault. Look at Murtasim’s Guilt, Meerab’s walk, meerab’s emotions. How do we believe it was consensual when Murtasim and Meerab are themselves portraying it was an assault.

  • @skepticlover
    @skepticlover ปีที่แล้ว +44

    Alternate Edit:
They should not have changed it to consent in the heat of the moment. It makes NO SENSE at all.
Instead the voice over could have implied that they had a heated argument where Murtasim insists to Meerub to tear the paper. But she does not, she stays her usual stubborn self. In that Murtasim breaks down and he goes on to tell her off for all the suffering she has caused him and finally how the fact that she does not trust his word despite knowing Haya has completely broken him. He goes on to tell her 'I love you so much but I dont want to see you right now. I feel defeated. I dont know if this relationship can even work!'
The haya scene could have carried on where haya has the misconception of the MR. The voice over should have been Yumna reflecting, regretting and feeling embarrassed and accordingly leaving unable to face Murtasim. She is coming to this realisation after all this time as she has finally developed strong feelings for him.
They could have cut out murtasims self harm scene or kept it to show his frustration for his unsuccessful marriage. They could have also had a voice over where he also regrets scolding Meerub so harshly and almost getting physical with her with a slap in his initial anger, but he doesnt actually slap her.
Meerub leaves. A year or so down the line at a hospital visit for any reason, she sees a new born abandoned by the father as the child's mother passed away in child birth. This reminds her of herself and she adopts the baby. Story comes full circle.
Everything would have seemed to make sense in such a scenario. Atleast better than the way it is currently!

@@NayRa482 that's definitely a possibility 🤣 it seems the writer has a lower ethical threshold for everything. She somehow thinks slap is OK 😐, husband forcing himself is enjoyable 😲
I was shocked when nobody in the family includung murtasim himself did not find it objectionable when he and haya went alone together to the farmhouse for 2-3 days! This would break up a lot of marriages in real life but murtasim got away with it by providing a simple explanation. He didn't even apologise after asking meerab to jump off the terrace and even meerab seemed OK the next day!
And no one in the family seems to think haya is wrong for doing such cheap and even dangerous things to break up his marriage. They turn a blind eye to her which is shocking.
It looks like the writer doesn't find violence as wrong at all and condones many of haya's deeds.

I have one imagination and perspective to their traumatic night. So at the start, Murtasim forced himself on Meerab, Meerab, fought back initially to stop him, but then in the heat of the moment, she gave in. But afterwards, they both are agonised and extremely guilty. Murtasim because he forced himself on her and didnot stop in time, and Meerab as she gave in to his violent act and consummated by her choice, rather than fighting him till the end to stop him.
Yes to add on, they both know that now their contract is broken, and it should not have been done in this way..this adds to their trauma.

Even if they added different dialogues, the senselessness is at an all time high because Yumna’s devastation and Wahaj’s maafi dialogues are too much to let go of. Its sad that the writer resorted to this petty “twist” and ruined what could’ve been a fantastic drama.

We saw a rape in bashar e momin when faisal qureshi rapes his wife ushna...we saw serial molestation in udari and there are many other dramas like that. It is a story, we are not showing that MR is ok but it was part of the story line, murtasim was controlling himself for so long and meerub kept on testing his patience - slapping him and spitting at him - challenging him - him being a feudal Lord, so what happend? Is the back lash because we loved murtasim too much and didn't expect this from him? Or we think that MR is wrong? Everyone knows it's wrong! But it's a storyline - sexually assaulting an 8yr old is wrong also and it was shown in udari?

What Aamna wrote in the article is exactly what I had hoped for. But why, oh just why did we need a separation track when they weren't really together in the first place? By episode 20, the makers clearly understood the audience's love for the drama and could have salvaged it then and there. That was the time to reshoot upcoming chaotic episodes not now. Why couldn't we get the drama ended by episode 50? If we cut flashbacks, this must have been episode 42 at max. Even if they added the flashbacks, why couldn't Meerab and Murtasim talk about their feelings after Maryam's rukhsati and consummate their marriage lovingly? Haya could have been overheard by Maa Begum or Murtasim saying she knew Anas was Malik Zubair all along and yet she didn't reveal it. She should have been sent to her paternal family for life (at least something going against her). Rohail should have decided to sever ties with Meerab after she told him she was in love with Murtasim. And the last 4 episodes should have been dedicated to Meerab and Murtasim's romantic moments that we all craved. She should have started practicing law again, should have encouraged Murtasim to break this norm of caging women at home, she could have gotten pregnant in the meantime, Murtasim could have been shown taking care of her as the husband (the malers so wanted us to believe). This could have been a happily ever after while you guys hit the 50-episode milestone (which still are too many episodes). But these people wanted to milk the story to the extent that they rather chose to make a mockery of this popular drama.
It was a trashy romance and we enjoyed it as a trashy romance by giving up logic. But then these people thought they'd casually slip in marital rape and people should be ok with it. Wasn't there one sane person among the makers or actors to object? No one understood it was against Murtasim's character? I am one of those people who were really anxious and disturbed after episode 46 because you destroyed Murtasim for us. Cherry on top, we now anticipate Murtasim marrying Haya, ruining the character completely.

I just have a few questions. Why did Nooran Makhdoom in an interview say “contract breach hoga, maza aayega” when she wrote in that Murtassim was gonna force himself on her? Is this her idea of enjoyment?
And why did Yumna Zaidi in an interview say apart from Murtassim, every character is grey…when in fact Murtassim was gonna assault Meerab? She said Murtassim wasn’t toxic.
Why is Haya getting away with everything for so long when everyone in the entire family including Naurez knows what she is up to. Why doesn’t Murtassim use his power to take Haya out of the house, there is a limit to how much you can tolerate a person’s evil actions.
Also, why is everyone glossing over the fact that Mariam invited a random man to her bedroom at night while everyone was asleep for the past 8 months and acting like her mistake was that she ran away with their enemy?? What kind of message is this sending, that she’s completely innocent? Maa begum says she is completely pure? Like yes, she’s still a virgin because of Malik Zubair not raping her, but they should’ve said you doing this with ANYONE (not just Malik Zubair) was wrong. Even if it was Anas, running away was extremely wrong and they should’ve explained to Mariam why they rejected Anas after meeting Anas’ mom. Mariam and Meerab were both shown to be extremely brainless in this whole scenario because they could see everything in front of them and still proceeded to do this.
I love Yumna and Wahaj so I will continue watching their dramas in the future too (and excuse this as a bad judgement call) but I really wanna know what was the rationale behind writing this contract breach scenario in the original script as well as the wrong messaging.

The rape perspective is is so entwined in the storyline, that we cannot even think of anything else as a possibility . In no way it makes sense that Meerab gave her consent then came out on the road, wandering from here and there in a totally devastated condition. Her walking clearly says she's in physical pain, mental trauma, and most importantly every inch of her body reflects the terrible grief of being betrayed by the person , that she could call her own in the world. Yumna is one rare talent and she definitely needs no script and can convey the whole thing just by her expression and body language. The false and fake narrative cannot change what we can see in the scene.

How much patience, trust it may require to make such type of marriage successful and also forgiveness at times. But the wonderful chemistry of Yumna and Wahaj particularly in romantic scenes made people believe that it is a love story while it was never. Moral of the story is Yumna and Wahaj should only work in romantic dramas as people will not accept them in any other role and will ensure that the story line changes so that Murtasim and Merrub will be together forever. In both stories the male character are extremely seemingly perfect and romantic but ends up being violent and the female character despite the male characters being guilty about their actions refuse to forgive them and end the cycle of abuse with them. In a society where marital rape is not even a thing, the show wouldve managed to bring such a strong message, that also to the masses. No matter how romantic a couple is, no matter how stunning their chemistry is People should be accepting to a sad ending when its needed.

Your reviews got me back to watch TB . I also felt like re- writing that entire scene which caused such an uproar and anger in audience. When Meerab comes back for Marrium's ruksati and Murtasim is unaware . The camera that kept rolling in circles for both of them; should have ended with confession of love by Meerub after all their banter , pointing fingers.
Even if they wanted to add Haya's embrace; again a cute conflict must hv been shown , like Murtasim asking ki aaj bata hi do Meerub why are you being so jealous. And like Amna said ...No no no karte hue it should have been a big YES from Meerub that she became possessive as she is also head over heals in love with Murtasim... It would hv been a really grt direction if nothing OTT like tearing the contract was shown, instead they both confess love and respect for each other and it becomes evident that the contract has been breached. I feel viewers wanted it to end on these lines not on MR. Both the writer and director are too filmy and wanted to create controversy, a big bang .ratings... So kudos to them for achieving that and ruining the whole drama. I'm 200% agree with Hassan as I'm also unable to unsee the whole scenario which they've already been presented to us in the previous promo that it'll be a case of MR and the post reaction of both the actors only making sense when we watch in that sense. Yes they did a great thing to change the storyline which they should've done before but now they just killed the watching experience of Tere bin and I would rather cry after watching the actual sequence than this pathetic U-turn. They just tried to save murtasim's character unjustly. So disappointed firstly for the what they shot actually and secondly what they've shown us and plus I have a problem with the voice overs as well it could've been written with more precision but I guess we as viewers asking for too much from them maybe they didn't expect such overwhelming response so they didn't handle it with care at first. Feeling for meerab really after watching last two episodes.

The voice over could have been better - haya evesdroppng on their conversation behind closed door could have been slowed down to 0.75x and overlapped with a voice over- the banter turning into meerub provoking murtasim to prove her that he doesn't have feelings for haya instead has the 'hots' for her and they end up concesually consumating the marriage. IT WAS THAT SIMPLE.

She is in a highly Shocked state n can't think straight.. Next episode Murtasim saying he is going to find her n She will remain his wife forever.. Then telling police to search for her everywhere. Now he is guilty n desperate to find her.. Plz lets wait for the next episode... Always praying for a Miraculous Happy Ending... We all are so emotionally involved .. Playing devil's advocate here (the devil being the actors), I would like to specifically address Wahaj because many people have also criticized him for acting in the MR scene. I believe it is necessary to consider giving him the benefit of the doubt. Here are some of the reasons that I can think of:
📌Tere Bin drama marks his first significant role as the lead in a mainstream commercial drama. When he agreed to take on this role, his position in the industry was not strong enough to make substantial changes to the story. While he managed to exclude some instances of physical aggression, such as few slaps, altering the climax is a substantial change, and I seriously doubt that he had the authority to make such a change. Knowing Wahaj from his earlier interviews, it is reasonable to assume that he must have expressed his concerns to the MR scene, but the makers and writers chose to ignore his request. Although the specifics of his contract are unknown, it is likely that he was not given the option to change the plot or refuse certain important scenes.
📌He explicitly said in his recent interview that he did not receive the complete script. In fact, he accepted this role based on Yumna's recommendation. This is not the first time someone has mentioned not being given the full script; many others have made similar remarks. So it makes sense to think Wahaj had no idea what he was getting into.
📌In the past, I have heard some actors mention that when they frequently object to scenes, the makers and writers tend to not work with them again and boycott them since they are tough to work with. Therefore, it is quite possible that Wahaj found himself in a similar position. Mushkil se eik itna bara project milla hai lead ka, why harm his career or get blacklisted from the industry?
This is just my opinion, so it is okay if you disagree with it or think otherwise. To each his or her own!

Despite the harrowing events of the past few episodes, I’ll stick with it til the end…I didn’t dedicate the past five months to this drama only to see it midway…
