- I've been wanting to get this as long as I've owned the truck and I finally set aside some time to fix my truck up and take a break from my cars. Don't worry, plenty of car videos in the future.

Grandpas leave ‘em stock. Dudes that tow or want a little more pep run a 30-60 horse tune. And then you get ass holes that put a 300 horse tune on a stock truck and run the dog piss out of it and roll coal like a Jack ass then sell it to some sucker lol

Man you need a built trans not just a updated valve body to run those hot tunes. Edge is a fantastic monitor, but the tunes are built for fun and have no fail safes. It’s geared more for people who could care less if they break their truck, they just like having fun. Anyone with just a monitor can buy those tunes for $250 from edge. It’s cheap for a reason. They are dirty tunes, hints the black smoke. A good tune should have minimal to 0 black smoke. I’d be careful with a 300k mile truck, stuff is going to start breaking. Good video tho.

Good video can't wait to see the results after the valve body upgrade. I have an 05 5.9 Cummins bought the edge tuner a few months ago. Tow a 12000 lb trailer I just leave it on the tow tune. Everything stock except for K&N cold air intake and mishimoto trans cooler also a Hytec deep pan. Got up to 207 on trans temp while towing uphill but it's been pretty hot here in southern California. Going to add a egt sensor. With that should be able to tell what's going on with temps. 170,000 on my old boy he's still hanging in there. The edge tuner has made a big difference in horsepower just on the tow tune. Definitely been worth money just being able to monitor temps and being able to add horsepower. Keep it going I'm interested in what you come up with..
I love the CTS3. I can do burnouts with my Dually... lmao. Though my truck is far from stock. I use an Extreme/Race tune. I think only the FICM is stock engine wise, however, not for long. Also do not roll coal. I am over 600hp with a stock transmission. Waiting for it to finally give out. Even keep the convertor locked.
You can't walk near the truck without hurting your ears. Turbo is so damn loud.
For a stock truck, I think you are looking pretty damn good. I suggest buying the EGT probe. If you buy nice manifolds they come with a predrilled/Threaded hole for it as well.
One day I’ll have to upgrade mine. I think eventually I’ll move to a 2nd gen manifold with a borg turbo and I’ll run an egt probe. Good looking out bro

I went with smarty jr. tuner on my 450k truck, personally i like the smarty better because you can control alot more like you can control hp and torque separately with 9 different levels of hp and 4 different levels of of torque

Does not "rattle" off from my 03 500hp truck . Sun and your spit to make it stick will cause your gauge to fall off. Mine, once a year. Don't worry about it. A non issue.
Im more a fan of tunes on the fly. 5 position switch tunes. "EFI LIVE" But that's pretty cool too

I love the megacabs, so far I’ve had my cts3 in two different 06 cummins and it’s been great. I love the gauges

Thanks bro, it’s an alpine apple car play double din. I got it off of Amazon for 250 or so. I also got the radio surround piece off of Amazon for about 70 dollars, I can’t remember the brand but it just fills the holes where the radio knobs were.

I got this same set up. I didn't make it past the performance tune. It's wicked! I can't imagine what the hot tune is like.

I bought my 07' 5.9 last month for $32K. Had my first $1000 a month payment November 18th. Put this Tuner on it and blew the motor last Saturday during the first test drive. A guy is coming to pick up my truck tomorrow and now I'm paying for a rebuilt $20K 900H engine. And just like that it went from a $32K to a $52K truck lol. I do not recommend this edge unfortunately. Just spend the extra for an EFI.

You may be able to search around online for a better deal on one. But I always try to get Apple CarPlay compatible radios because you get more features for less money by using your phone on it.
Can you not switch tunes on the fly once you get them all downloaded or something or are you stuck in one tune until you download that new tune on there then it swaps?
Unfortunately you have to turn your truck off, select the tune and then wait for it to load in the tune and it usually takes about ten minutes before it's ready to drive again. But the tunes come pre installed
I have that on my 2003 Duramax that has 330k. She gets down now. Definitely need a built trans now. Tune 5 is a little violent for the stock tired transmission 😅
5 will grenade your shit after about 25k miles. I ran from a 392 scat pack from a 40 roll, with a 16 2500 Ltz. I had it on 5.
Is the plug in the center of the OBD2 chord Is is for the expandable accessory system That is so you can run A EGT probe or a Boost Pressure sensorAnd all kinds of other sensors
Beautiful truck, nothing compares to EFI live though. Be careful with those pre programmed tunes.

My buddy has an EFI in his 06 and he it's a simple turn of the knob under the sterling week to the left to stage 5 someone. I'm waiting for this to get in the mail because it was about $700 and I'm pretty sure an EFI would be at least another rack, so for not I'm going to try this. But an EFI would have been so much cooler in my 07' /:

So I have a 075.9 Cummins and I’ve got a sinister diesel cold air antique as well as the ram horn and also fully straight pipe 4” from the turbo back. The Hot tune felt like it took power away from the truck however it rolled a lot more coal but I’m trying to find a happy medium where I can still roll coal and also have that get up as well.
That’s weird man, maybe you should get a custom tune for your setup! Mine is completely stock, even intake
What tuner are you running? If it feels that it looses power the de fuel setting is on to safe ur tranny
Probably because your shit isn’t tuned right. In case you aren’t already aware; rolling coal is unburnt diesel. Wasted money, and unburnt equals wasted potential power. If you got tuned properly you’d be making more power with that hot tune instead of feeling like your truck is bogged down. I have the same truck. No smoke, big turbo, straight torque to the pavement.
Is this bad for the truck? I have a stupid clean stock 136k mile 03 cummins. I want to tune it after i put my 5 in mbrp straight pipe on tmw, but dont want to hurt it with a tune
My truck has damn near 350k on it and I drive it almost every day on the tow tune and it's still perfectly fine, so I would say you will be fine as long as you don't leave it on stage four and tear up your trans

I’m not familiar with what an edge box is, but I’m pretty sure you’re not able to adjust their tunes. I wanna say efi live would be the way to go for a custom tune, that’s probably something I’ll be looking into when I do some real modifications

Anyone who’s ran one of these for awhile got any advice for me I got a bone stock 05 210k miles 5k on the auto trans I’m gonna get exhaust and I take tho but if I stayed on the tow tune or the next one up would I be alright?

Mine is a 06 5.9, and to this day I love it.

Stock as in not modded. Rebuilt 40k ago supposedly.
Level 4 is more than adding a stock 12 valve cummins to your drive train

@theartofrealestate6233 no change on any of the tunes. The truck will read 20 to 28 mpg driving like an old man but when I fill up its 15 mpg when I use the odometer.

What on the gauges did it show you
Rpm, speed, coolant temp, trans temp, gear, throttle position, load, boost, basically any info there’s a sensor for. You can change it to display info you want to see too.
Mine don’t say level 1-5 it says eco tune and etc

It does, if you can stay off of the throttle
So the first thing you did wrong was not plugging it up to your computer first to update the tuner before install.. along with that you were about to adjust for the tire size so you can calibrat the wheel speed. I Learn this the hard way with mine. Being its such a new product, you have to update this about every 2 weeks.

Use that for gauges only, and get a custom tune! That is tricking the ECU not tuning the truck.

Valve body won't let transmission hold more power lol.
Valve body bumps fluid pressure, thus putting more pressure on the bands that hold the gears, which allows it to hold more power without slipping. Literally the entire point of upgrading your valve body.

I believe I still have an egr, but someone removed my muffler before I got the truck
If your truck is a 5.9 cummins it didnt have a egr on it. The egr started on the 6.7 unless you live in California but sweet truck man

Pretty sure the evolution cts3 only make 130 on the highest tune the evolution cts2 makes 175hp on the highest tune

It was a default gauge when I installed it, if you don’t have it maybe you could customize your gauges on it to display it
