Beat this game myself a couple nights ago. Hell of a game.
When I was a kid, I wanted my aunt to rent Soulblazer for me but she rented Skyblazer instead .. I was glad this mistake was made :D

You can tell who grew up with Castlevania when they play anything else and go to hit candles, flaming torches or any light source 🤘🏻

I found this game and beat it on my everdrive a few months ago. One of the most underrated snes games out there. Glad you found it.

It's a fantastic game with a painful water level. I think Mike would have enjoyed it more and had an easier time in parts if he had learned the different powers.
I had this game as a kid. It was at the time when N64 and PS1 games were filling all the shelves that I got it, since the other game the store still had needed some sort of an add-on to work properly (some sort of a mech game, idk). I really liked Skyblazer. The final boss was ruthless, though. I only managed to beat him once.

This game looks awesome. Really innovative mode 7 stuff. I remember seeing the box in stores but since it didn't have Konami, Capcom or Nintendo on the label, I figured it was trash or a ruined weekend rental at best.
Funny how that's we used to determine if a game was any good back then. We didnt have TH-cam playthroughs to give us a look at how the game plays. I'd capcom konami or Nintendo made a game we pretty much knew it was good lol
This game was a good lesson in patience for Mike.
These live videos should have more views, they're awesome. I'm pretty sure that Mike plays games way more often than James!

I love this game - Played this in my childhood and was the first game I added to a modded SNES Mini (Classic). Really happy to see it get some recognition.

I’ve had this game since I was a young kid in the 90s and it was very overlooked up until recently. One of the greatest games on the console in my opinion. Comparable to Megaman X and Demon’s Crest.
The Phoenix magic is actually super powerful and makes the boss rush a breeze as it can kill each of the bosses in two casts (the Genie Lamp dies in one), so long as you don't miss a hit (including the Piranha Pods and Ashura). The exceptions are the Mode 7 Spinny Ball Boss (who dies in the same amount of hits no matter what you nail him with) and Raglan, where it's safer to save your magic for Heal.
Definitly gonna add this to my collection.👍👍 epic game

This game makes really cool use of mode 7.
It's so weird seeing someone learn this game for me. I've known how to do everything in it since before I could remember, so playing it now just feels like it is the easiest game ever.

If mike did this stream before he played it on james and Mike Monday then why couldn't they figure out to hide in the left corner when he just did it here?
Also in this video he's like "I wonder if you can get 10 lives?" And then with james he says the same thing. Another thing, with James hes like" I wonder if you can farm one ups" but here he is doing it just a few days before.

In the water level @45min, the switches in the water toggle the direction of the water flow. Not the strong currents, the weak ones. It was a bit frustrating watching you struggle there haha

Interestingly enough, this would be one of, if not the last, video game title that Sony would ever make for Nintendo.
1:13:23 The piranha-like creatures in the Lair of Kharyon are a real b---- to fight. After dying many times, I learned to have them on one side of a wall while you take out the things that generate them. As those are destroyed, you have less to deal with each cycle.
Man that game looks awesome and not too hard. I definitely need to get a cart, guess it's completely worth the price.
I usually saved the water level for last since it sucks so much. By then you'll have the lighting strike power which will eliminate all four targets in the water level boss fight pretty much immediately with 4 well timed attacks.
this game reminds me a lot to act raiser, the side scrolling parts anyway

Damn, i feel like i should give him a fucking beer after this. And if the mode 7 graphics during the credits look familiar its because you're looking at the same over world map used in Demons Crest, a much better game.

Fiery Phoenix destroys almost every boss in the boss rush. If you hit ashura with 6 hits from 2 phoenix's you insta kill him without any chance for him to hit you.

Very fun to watch but mike's patience was goneeee this stream lol. If he would've slowed down a bit during the water section he could've figured it out and recognized some patterns. Also, you have a heal spell!!! Either way still a great watch.

You need to hit the switches with the special attack after you pass them so the it's in the rights position to change the water flow where you need it to go......
