In the 90s, Rob Liefeld created a character in his Youngblood series named "Bedrock" that yelled "Yabba-dabba-DOOM!" Hanna-Barbera sued him, so he changed the character's name to "Badrock." Not sure if he ever nixed the catchphrase, lol. The moral is, that TM is serious!
Legit more interested in this than any modern game.
New games are woke and suck and only going to get worse.

Speaking of games with huge kitchens and small characters, Tom and Jerry on NES has level like that, with big cups and plates.
It would be cool if the surprise at the end was there was a time machine at Dinosaur Peak and the last level takes place in the Jetsons world

It's cool you can switch to Barney. I remember in that Dino & Hoppy game Barney would just occasionally show up to tell you why he couldn't help.
I'll have to re-download this game. I didn't even realize you could switch between Fred and Barney when I tried it out awhile back.

Maybe the challenge would be bigger in a Barney only run because of how much more time it takes him to kill the enemies. Also is cool how this game makes a way better job when you climb ledges in comparison to games like prince of persia, lester the unlikely etc.. feels way faster and natural.

I do miss the days when games were like this. And master system, snes etc. Games were simpler and more fun. I feel lucky to have been born in 83. Feel like I was the perfect age through the best video game years, nes, snes Sega, amiga etc. Glorious.

I played this as a kid. It's actually a fun quality game.
The final boss in Surprise at Dinosaur Peak does give me Mecha Sonic and Death Egg Robo from Sonic 2 vibes. As always, great stream mike!

That was a fun stream to watch and I just beat the game no death with the Bowling ball and had 11 lives left over.I noticed Fred goes full turbo speed after fred crushes the blocks and it goes away if you die.Also you can make the ground and screen shake w/ your club when you have a full meter bar.

In Micro Machines for NES, there's a level where you drive on kitchen tables and such. SimAnt has some later levels where you're in the kitchen. Pikmin 4 has a kitchen level. I don't really understand why BurgerTime doesn't count.

Although this version is easy, the 1991 version is equally difficult. Especially the water sections and space base sections challenge patience. But I like this game more, because it is easier, fun, beautiful graphics and a smart game than Dino&Hoppy. I love your videos Mike, I hope you play Sword Master too.
Although they had the series on several systems, the genesis version seemed superior over the snes versions. I thought the snes versions were extremely difficult. Which is one of those rare cases where certain games were better on different platforms.

@EfsaneSaran yes game play is smoothe, too. The nes controls seemed stiff. Perhaps though I had worn controllers by then when we rented this game. Our nes got some real heavy use back in the day! So bad we had to get another one (ours stopped working wouldn't read cartridges anymore and constantly reset off and on.

Mike, I think you'd like Destination Earth Star. That's an overlooked NES title which has first person and third person space shooter mixed in one.
Little Nemo has you miniature in a house...not sure that its EXPLICITLY kitchen stuff

@@mikematei just some weird artifacating, as you know, tons of nes games display like goombas and koopas as something totally weird if you reset while they are on the screen. Hard to tell if it came from your twitch vod, or something in your set up.
If you start to see alot of artifacting in other videos check that your computer hardware isnt on its way out the door because thats a possible and likely sign of machines in end of life.
if you never see it again, don't even think about it.

Hey Mike did you ever go back and play valfaris? I remember you played it awhile back and you did just a little bit of it but it sounded like you enjoyed it. It’s one I plan on playing myself soon, it looked fun when you played it (it was like a Metroid/contra kind of game with the heavy metal and stuff. I think you did the short test play of it sometime in 2022)
I think that after the Jetsons and the two Flintstones games, there's only one Hanna-Barbera platformer left (although it is not part of the Hanna Barbera Superstars series): Wacky Races. You also played it briefly during your NES A-Z streams and weren't terrible impressed by it, but who knows? Just like Surprise at Dinosaur Peak, a longer attempt might change your opinion (although it still baffles me why a tv show about, well, wacky races got turned into a platformer instead of a sort of proto Super Mario Kart).
I think what helps Surprise At Dinosaur Peak compared to Rescue Of Dino & Hoppy being a bit less frustrating is one simple mechanic change: that when your character gets hit they hop one million times in place instead of hopping one million times backwards. The water level in Dino & Hoppy was especially rage-inducing in your playthrough because you died at least 95% not because of low energy but because Fred hopped straight backwards into pits after getting hit. Glad that they fixed it for Dinosaur Peak. Also good that they got rid of minigames you have to do to advance like the basketball games in Dino & Hoppy and made it a straight platformer. Definitely seems like an improved sequel over the original.
I find it fascinating that the Jetsons and the Flintstones games were made by two different developers despite being so similar: Jetsons being made by Natsume and the two Flintstones games being made by Sol (a developer whose other claim to fame was making Snow Bros. on the NES too).

Was this a hack of the game? You usually start with 2 lives and 3 hearts. Mike normally plays hacks that make games harder not easier so I wonder if he got this version by accident.
Should be the original game as far as I knew? Maybe this was a pal version or something? Good question because now you have me wondering too. If I do find out that this was some weird rom of it I'd be down to re-play it sometime. I liked the game.
