These are all fast at 240hz and 360hz and bringing TN, IPS, and OLED to the table. I'll break down everything you need to know so you can choose the best gaming monitor for you.

    I bough the LG last month coming from the a 1440P 144HZ IPS panel. I agree I wish it had better brightness. To add to your points, IPS gets brighter for sure but when you realize there is IPS glow and other imperfections in darker games despite the added brightness; the picture is far less clear on the IPS panels to the point where it's difficult to go back to them now.
    I also pretty much got used to the lower brightness where to me its just normal now; adjusting the settings and turning off the power save features massively help.

    Have an AW3423DW and I have to agree that OLED especially with HDR on ( Good HDR implantation on the game ) its like your looking out your window. The contrast is actually nuts and to me the brightness is whatever as I play in a dark room and never use brightness that's high anyway due to the eye strain it leads to. It always blows me away when I play something on it.

      How bright do y'all need your monitors? I have the LG in a 4 season room with large windows in 3 directions so lots of indirect and some direct sunlight and never once thought I didn't have a bright enough monitor. The only time I had brightness issues was with direct sunlight on the screen but any monitor will struggle in that situation. At night I find myself turning down the brightness because it's too bright in a dark room.

    • @danschmidt6206
      @danschmidt6206 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zerozerozero_0 The LG definitely doesn't have a gamey design. FWIW I am not using the included stand since I just dropped it into my dual monitor stand, but it's not gamey, and in fact had some metal in the stand so it had a pretty solid look and feel. One minor annoyance is the LG has this lip or bezel along the bottom of the monitor with a super reflective coating so in brighter rooms it's extra shiny and reflective. I don't notice it while gaming, just a thing I see when I'm walking up to it.
      If brightness is at all aconcern I do believe the ASUS is just overall brighter than the LG. I am using HDMI 2.1 from my PC so the with ASUS only having HDMI 2.0 it would be a deal breaker if I would have waited and was choosing between the two of these monitors today.
      IMO the HDMI 2.0 vs 2.1 and brightness seem to be the main technical differences between these two monitors and then it's more of a personal preference on the aesthetics, with LG being more subtle and less gamey looking stand, but with the damn shiny bezel lol.

    I always watch these monitor reviews like I'm going to buy a new monitor for my office. Fact of the matter is, I don't use my office and likely never will. I have an LG CX65 in my living room, and have my gaming machine and work Mac plugged into that. 4k120hz is good enough for me, and I really don't see any reason to sit in a less comfortable chair with a smaller screen to do anything. Right now my office computer is solely acting as a print server, other than that I'd have no reason to even have a PC in that room.

    I was excited about OLED monitors too when it first came out but lost interests on it fast due to low brightness and potential burn-in issues. I'll be waiting for micro-LED monitors. Like OLED, micro-LEDs will have each pixel lit up or turned off depending on the media on display AND it will be very bright AND no burn-in issues!! It will take a while for this to come out but I'll be patient and my Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 (32", 4k, 240Hz, HDR1000, GSYNC, mini-LED monitor with 1196 dimming zones) will keep me good for a while. 😌

    • @gencoserpen1260
      @gencoserpen1260 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Why didn’t go for the Neo G7 ? The G8 has scanlines issues @240hz. Micro-led won’t be coming to monitors for a very long time, they can’t make them as small as Oleds. Mini-Led monitors can of course get much brighter than Oled but it results in blooming. The PG32UQX is reference grade HDR however the blooming is horrible. The G7/G8 are more conservative in how much brightness they push in a dimming zone so they don’t have bothersome blooming but aren’t that much brighter than an Oled.

    • @xellaz
      @xellaz ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gencoserpen1260 For me, the scanlines issue really isn't that bad on the G8. If I'm sitting at least an arm's length away from the monitor screen, it is hardly noticeable. I own the first gen Asus FALD monitor that was released back in 2016. That one has approx. 300+ dimming zones and being an early adopter of the tech back then, I paid a hefty price of over 2000 USD for it. It has very bad blooming issues and super annoying fan but the HDR in games is superb.
      Now comparing the Asus one I had back then to my current G8, the G8 beats it easily. OLED is still king though when it comes to contrast (I also own a 77" LG C2 OLED TV) but the mini-LED tech on my G8 comes very close and it is much brighter to the point I have to lower mine to 65 brightness or it hurts my eyes.
      The G8 has to be calibrated correctly to take full advantage of it. It has all the specs I wanted for an OLED but no 32" 4K 240Hz OLED exists right now and I don't want to deal with potential burn-in issues... specially since I have a lot of static stuff on display when I use my monitor.

      Per TFT-Central, LG Display is developing a 31.5inch 4K 240hz WOLED display, expected around Q3 2024. And Samsung is developing a 31.5inch 4K 240hz QD-OLED display to rival, with no expected release currently. Although the PPI on these is about 140 so that doesn't really hit your sweet spot, and they are ages away as they would probably ship in monitors in like Q1 2025 lol

    Lg Oled one is the one I got and it honestly don't see anything that bad about it, and the issues with your monitor in cod sounds like something is really wronf with your monitor? I play cod and imo doesn't seem to have anything wrong beside the vsync flashing. I had to turn it off. I came from the 4k lg 950g

    I wish VA panel is also reviewed. For casual gamer and content consumer, I've been eyeing the S2722DGM and might buy it since beside that monitor the other good VA panel is the Odyssey which is super expensive for me. So for someone who hates not being able to see someone in the dark room and constantly getting jumpscare because i don't see enemies well in those scenario the S2722DGM is the best one for me right now. Unless someone who knows much better option. 🤣🤣

    I bought the aw3423dw from Alienware and I’m blown away. Best monitor by far I have ever owned. 175hz qd-oled, hdr, gsync ultimate curved ultrawide. Considering you showed monitors unboxed I think it should be said he also said this is by far the best oled on the market currently. Not all people are in the market for ultrawide granted, however, if you are I highly suggest giving it a look. As for the people who worry about burn in, dell guarantees the monitor from burn in for 3 years no questions asked. I even confirmed with via a phone call with dell. All they require is a simple picture proof showing burn in “in any way” and they mail you a new one. Love it, wouldnt go to any other monitor for the unforeseeable future.

      nice same here i just upgraded from a x34p acer to the alienware and im also blown away its crazy how much better oled or qd oled is. and i love ultrawide idk why people dont like it for me PC needs ultrawide i tried going back to regular 4k screen and rather have the utlrawide

    • @GDub356
      @GDub356 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah man I understand the 4K dudes but I love the 2K ultrawide. I have a 4090 and just lock it at 170 to stay inside gsync and it’s awesome. I could never and will never go back to a non ultrawide monitor. People who hate on them tend to say “ it’s not supported on most games”. Which would have been valid in about 2014 but every AAA game including most of the indie games support it now, it’s a well recognized aspect ratio now.

    OLED panels .. Nvidia control panel / Adjust Desktop Color Settings and crank up your brightness to whatever you want, I'd try 65%-70%, the default is 50%.Try 60%-70%. I'd also increase Digital Vibrance to 70%-80%. Let me know. 😊

    • @MombaCoD
      @MombaCoD ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@houssamalucad753 .. You're dead wrong! The color accuracy is perfectly fine with the brightness increased. Your argument is like saying HDR 1000 vs 400 Nits blows out the image so don't use it. Being real CoD is 100% about seeing the other guy first. Neither TN or IPS panels can touch the accuracy of the OLED. Once done 1-click Restore and be right back where you were.
      Buy one then I'll listen otherwise you're trolling.

    I feel like these days you need to have one strong Samsung 4K monitor, a 1080P 360hz monitor, an asus 1440P 360 hz monitor and also an OLED, that way there are no compromises, and you can just use whatever you feel like at that time. Far Too many monitors out there to just restrict yourself to one that's for sure. Personally, I went with the Asus 240 hz oled most recently, it's going to be a panel I use part time for gaming only. They say its a bit better than the LG version but milage may vary. My main productivity monitor is Samsungs 240 hz Neo G8 4k.
