Depends on the size of the monitor, the distance you are from the screen, the performance of your GPU, the original resolution of the rendered assets / movie ..... etc. It's silly to just say "1440p is better" when it might be a complete waste of money for some people, factoring in other things. A young lad once asked me to build him a PC. And he was willing to spend £350 on the CPU, £400 on the GPU and .... £150 on a 1080p 60Hz monitor. For example. I talked him out of it, told him how to balance performance across all components. For him, a 1440p 120Hz monitor was a must. So he dropped the spec of other components and lost a 2nd SSD drive. Improving the overall gaming experience by a huge factor, and not wasting all that CPU + GPU horsepower on a screen that couldnt keep up.
@@TheVanillatech What? It's not silly at all to say 1440p is better, it's obviously better. 95% of people buying 1440p monitors are getting 27-32" to use things that are capable of reaching that resolution (which these days is pretty much EVERYTHING except live streams). It's a significant step up from 1080p 24-27". Even at 32" 1440p the PPI is identical to a much smaller 24" 1080p monitor. Just because it might be a complete waste to very specific people, doesn't mean it isn't objectively better. It just simply is better. It's more pixels for your eyeballs to enjoy, you can have larger screens and still keep the same or better level of detail.
@@toad7395 I know but people reading it are easily led. People don't understand the other factors at play. People fall for marketing, and buzzwords, and gimmicks, without actually understanding the technology. Hence why so many idots dream of spending $1000 on a 360Hz screen, while their eyes can only see 180fps (if they are lucky) and the GPU's can't even break triple figure frames.
@@vangledosh 80% of people with gaming PC's don't have a GPU that can run modern titles in 1440p with even 60fps. So they follow your comments advice, and believe that 1440p is "better". I played WZ1 with a 1080p60hz monitor for a bit. Then, I switched to 1440p144hz. It was night and day when sniping. Not only was the refresh rate important, but seeing enemies that was farther away was the biggest boost to my gameplay. Definitely agree that it depends on the game. But the benefits of switching was clear as day for me as someone who doesn't play too much comp style games.
I played a bit WZ1 and my mate who is on 1440p had died and was saying there's a guy there just by the rock..... I couldn't see him. It was a pixelated mess on my screen but clear as day on his. Play BF mainly and it has the exact same issue.
@paskky913 I can imagine!! Holyyyy! I remember how insane of a difference it was to even switching from a big screen to a Acer Predator XB273 240HZ 1080p monitor......I'm sure if you look hard enough, you can still find small pieces of brain matter on my floor from the intial explosion....lmao!! 🤯🤯🤯🤣
I actually went from 1440p to 1080p when I started playing Apex again, I like the slightly smaller screen too. Having said that before going back to try Apex again I had been playing Tarkov for quite a long time and I definitely think 1440p helps you spot movement/players in that game.
for competitive games I'd suggest a 1080p monitor, if I play competitive games I usually tend to go for 4:3 and on 27" monitor you just see the pixels too much
If you have a beast of PC, you should definitely do competitive on 1440p@240/360Hz. It will be miles better than 1080p on clear image/spotting enemies easier.@@samuelson9196
@@strawberrymilkshake112 No not bad by any means, I just prefer the smaller screen size on 1080p, my screen is 24.5" vs my 1440 panel which is 27". One of the main differences is that my 1080 panel has much better motion clarity too; this also influenced my decision. Having said all that, seeing all these 1440p OLED panels coming out this year I will probably give one of them a go in Apex. Bottom line is I would just use whatever you find most comfortable to play on, but try and get a monitor with good motion clarity if you can.
My main game is Apex and I wanna upgrade my monitor. My monitor is 1080p 144hz and I’m thinking about a 360hz 1080p monitor or a 240hz 1440p. What would u recommend me?
Great and informative video as always, Ali! Been enjoying 1440p gaming for over 3 years now, and I have to say I could never go back to 1080p for single player games, and also for competetive titles.
The depth you go into for your videos is always very helpful. I know in the past you have done some testing of the 2k 240hz oled monitors. You should do a comparison of all the various ones on the market now since there’s a lot more variety. I’ve been looking at how there is WOLED and QD-OLED but nobody explains in as much detail in an understandable manner like you do. In the future, if you get your hands on several oled displays, you should do a comparison! Keep up the awesome work man. Love your content.
The step from FullHD to QHD was the best decision ever. Even if you have to drop some graphics settings, the QHD still looks way better than FullHD. It's a nobrainer if you have a decent mid-tier gpu. Even with a 2070 Super.
I downgraded from 280hz to 170hz but upgraded from 1080p to 1440p. In my opinion it was definitely worth it. All my games felt so clear and real. I was kind of bummed out though because i dont play competitively, but im still very competitive and want to get every advantage I can. But if you think about it, i would say the average gamer is still running 144hz most likely.
The jump from 60-144 fps is insanely noticeable but 144-280 isn’t crazy imo. Especially on 1440 or 4k pcs aren’t doing 300fps on most games unless it’s a comp game.
Everytime I watch one of your videos on gaming like this makes me load up a game right after. So much fun. My plan is to get a OLED gaming monitor this year. Just saving up the bucks. Thanks for all your hard work. My curren 1440p/144hz is holding it's own but 2.5 years on I'm ready for better HDR performance.
It's just baffling to me that nobody has bothered to make a 24.5" 1440p 240hz+ monitor. It's been the most wanted setup for competitive gamers for so long 😢
I'd buy the crap out of that! One of my main games is CS:GO. 27" is just too big because it doesn't fit your cone of sight. Even better would be a 16:10 25"
After playing for 2 years on 1440p and then going back to play the same games on 1080p I can definitely say that all the detail you have in 1440p lets you see enemies better and further away.
Just got my pg27aqn and loving it. I tried Oled and returned it because I hated the burn in risk and constantly have to worry about static images. So far this monitor has been perfect besides the low number of local dimming zones.
I also gave my OLED back, but because of eyestrain/headache. Could be 21:9, curved, VRR gamma flicker, PWM flicker (brightness control), subpixel structure or the size of 45“. And today my PG27AQN should arrive, can‘t wait! Had also an IPS/240Hz/G-Sync compatible, but i didn‘t like the „blackout“ when tabbing from game to desktop. That happened also to the G-Sync compatible OLED. My former G-Sync/TN/144Hz didn‘t do that. Anyway the IPS had also a graphical error with a white line appears from time to time. That‘s why i went again for a monitor with G-Sync module.
@@princekittipon6510 I didn‘t try yet, later this evening i will set it up. But thats really strange for a real G-Sync. My current G-Sync has immediate transitions, no matter which resolution i have the fullscreen game.
When I jumped to 1440p while playing primarily Arma 2 it was insane how much better I was at spotting enemies hundreds of meters away. To the point that even once I called them out to my team they sometimes still couldn't see them if they were on 1080p.
I got the PG27AQN about 3 weeks ago and it really is a god tier monitor. I tried to like the AQDM but I never had peace of mind knowing about OLED burn in because I look at static images a lot and cant stand shifting, I also need some sort of strobing function or blur reduction but I couldnt find anything on ghe OLED, couldnt read text on it, but it was really eye opening. Anyways suffice it to say I love the PG27AQN for daily use for gaming and browsing. Colors are punchy and everything is hella smooth! Thanks for making these videos man.
@@AdvancedGamingYT the problem herein lies with tge fact that OLED displays are always on and I need strobing for much better perceived clarity (watch ULMB 2 video, it makes more sense once you try both models like I have for 4 weeks). I hate shilling for companies but I just wanted to say the product is goated if you want or need the clearest motion in 2023, this will do it
You don't need to worry about burn in in today's age, it's a thing from a decade ago......you literally need thousands and thousands of hours of constant exposure to the same image to get any burn in. And that's 24/7 for a year straight. Using it 8 hours a day and changing the picture around, you'd be lucky to see burn in within the monitors entire life.
@@AdvancedGamingYT OLED isn't any different in that regard, strobing is done to eliminate motion blur caused by the sample-and-hold technique these screens use to display the image. Only on OLED they don't talk about strobing, it's called BFI or black frame insertion.
Bought a refurbished 1440p 144hz monitor about 5 years ago. It's still my daily driver today. Only reason I would upgrade is to get away from a TN panel, but I'd rather wait until prices reach sufficient levels.
Nice video as always, had no clue. Btw just bought some budget IEM's on your recommendation and I'm absolutely amazed by the quality. And they ended up being even more confortable than I expected with the memory foam. Tin T2's btw. Love your channel!
I was kinda sceptical going from 1080p 75 Hz to 1440p 165 Hz in January, but I had just gotten a new GPU and was considering going to 1440p for a while. The difference is a lot bigger than I ever imagined.
i don't play any competitive games (unless you count cod, bf, or destiny) but still love watching these videos. also love that you refer to them as "sweaty" games lmao
as someone who plays Hunt:Showdown where enemy hunters often completely blend in with the environment, and spotting enemies is an actual skill you have to learn, more resolution makes a massive difference competetively.
For siege 1080 to 1440 was just amazing you can hold tighter angles and in apex playing on good settings instead of all low the game looks real nice. If you can upgrade you can get good 1440p monitors as cheap as 1080p or cheaper if you look around. Theres no reason not to unless you cant run it with your hardware.
And the fact windows is still not made for 2k, it’s the same problem than with 4k. 80% of stuff on your desktop is smaller instead of being more detailed/sharper which can be really annoying
I actually went to 1440p 27" and have dropped back down to 1080p 24". I like being closer to the screen with the 24". I disliked being further from the 27" and found disliking the extra screen real estate due to having to look at more screen in a competitive scene. My 27" 1440p screen is now my secondary monitor.
You did not mention how well gsync works on the PG27AQN, especially after the new ULMB firmware update, which has greatly reduced the error rate in particular. Even with a poorer graphics card, with which you don't always reach the full 360 Hz, the positive features are clearly noticeable. The PG27AQN is simply THE all-in-one monitor, as it is also great for text-based or color-accurate work, which, on the other hand, works less well with a TN or OLED screen.
You don't even want GSYNC on with a 360hz monitor. GSYNC is meant to prevent screen tearing, but adds input delay. At 360hz, even at 165hz there's no visible tearing unless you're using a slow motion camera. A game running at 40fps with gsync at 40hz will look much MUCH worse, than a game running at 40fps over 360hz. Because the frame will be displayed 9x at 360hz, and without GSYNC or VSYNC enabled it will keep updating the image ever so slightly. Creating more natural motion even in low framerate situations.
G-sync/adaptive sync is not compatible with ULMB2. Ulmb 2 is not gsync its a technology that will be on gsync monitor because its use the gsunc processor but that not the same thing. So its useoess for me. I play only with Adaptive sync
@@xkannibale8768 and how many games runs at 360fps? Even old games like Far Cry 4 or Crysis runs at 100-200 fps on avarage. You can have RTX 4090 and its useless because engine of games limits how FPS each game can produces.
You mentioned in in the in depth review, but the 25" inch mode at 1332p on the pg27aqn is insane for games like valorant and csgo. unparalleled pixel density

Same! Or, I'd be set for life with 4K 240Hz. We have that already, but sadly not flat and made for competitive. I'm tired of the people saying 1080p is all competitive needs, only because they don't know there's a world outside corridor shooters.
I went from playing on a 1440p 165hz monitor for a year. Then having to sell a lot of my setup to cover some unexpected bills. I was fortunate enough to pick up a BenQ ex2510s 1080p Ips 165hz for a great on sale price 5 months ago. I have noticed the difference in overall detail but with playing mainly overwatch. It actually hasn't been too bad of an experience and the colors out of box are great paired with good blur reduction. Hoping to upgrade in a year when i can grab a more powerful GPU again.
What are your thoughts on the new market of 23.8" - 25" 1440p high refresh monitors? There is a 165Hz one from AOC released in the EU recently, better PPI than some 4K monitors - I'm waiting for a 240Hz version to pop up somewhere as I would love the extra screen real estate ( and higher PPI!)
When I first time moved from 17 inch 4:3 monitor to 24 inch 16:9 monitor 10 years ago for a few years I thought 24 inches is too big. But for a while now I think at normal sitting distances it's too small. 27 inches at minimum. And the actual sharpness/pixel density difference at 1440p 24 vs 27 inches is almost impercievable (I tested 24 inch 1440p for a week on top of using a 27 inch 1440p)
The Dell 2417DG has always been a sleeper monitor. Been out for 6 years; some of the best motion clarity on the market still. Pick one up used if you want one.
Just a thought cause I know from personal testing that overwatch is a lot more cpu bound than gpu bound for frame drops so a improvement from 4070 to 4090 won’t help to the same level as upgrading your cpu. Did testing where I tried a combination of 9700k, 13600k, and tried both with a 2080super and a 3080ti. Even on the 2080super 13600k run if I dropped render resolution low enough the game was able to run stable 360 fps, but 9700k with 3080ti the fps never got above a stable 240 no matter what I did. This was at 1440p on the pg27aqn
Its kinda of wild. I got both the asus 1440p 240hz oled and the asus 1440p 360hz. The image on the oled is superior but on the 360hz you can actually feel the smoothness. The 360hz gets much brighter except for when ulmb 2 is on and the oled dims down a lot in game with bright scenes. my room is very dark and they both bug me when they dim down. Hopefully the 480hz oled will be brighter or even a 360hz oled. the pros and cons to each kinda stink. I wish the oled and the 360hz both stayed bright but they dont. I'm returning the 360hz and keeping the oled because of the picture quality. Also my 360hz came with 3 dead pixels so that was lame. Awesome video! I really enjoy you're content. Always looking forward to the next video drop!
You need to run G-sync on the OLED, it has the same smoothness as the AQN then. This is because the AQN can only run 240hz without displayport compression which is software fakery to mimic "higher hz" but it's just Gsync (and the same input lag). I also had both of them at the same time but I also returned the AQN because it just doesn't work and is fake to the core. We can't get better monitors until gpu's come with displayport 2.0 and the monitors also have that support. Probably a few years still. :)
You could look at the q24g2a from aoc-165hz 1440p but most importantly 24 inches - very close pixels per inch to 32 inch 4K (120 vs 130 ish) and around 200 bucks!
I actually regretted upgrading from 1080p to 1440p. Not because of the image quality but because GPUs are so expensive these days that I switched back to 1080p.
Yeh, can't even imagine 4K, to 1440p it's 33% more vertical pixels, 1440p to 4K is 50% But the performance hit though, 120% more total pixels to render, personally wouldn't go to 4K unless I had a 4090 level gpu. Currently Cyberpunk runs at around 60fps, at 4K I'd be getting 20. And that's with a 3080 already. 😂
I'm using an Alienware Ultrawide WQHD+ (3840 x 1600) 144hz + Alienware 25" (1080p) 240hz / 2521HFL with a Gigabyte RTX3080. While I can pull 144 frames on some games on the ultrawide, been debating on upgrading to a 40 series and "downgrading" to a 16:9 again since I'm big on shooters. The fuzziness of the 1080 is getting to me as well going back and forth depending how sweaty I'm feelin'. Thank you for confirming my suspicion on latency. Really like your content and reviews been watching for years now!
It's funny, because you bring up some really great points. What confuses me though, is despite 1440p haven gotten better. I still see people chasing high Hz 1080p panels. I guess it makes sense as most companies are adding a lot more tech into 1080p panels and constantly pushing newer panels to the absolute edge of what they can do. While 1440p is really nice, you're able to keep a ton of the price down and push a panel to its brink and not have to worry about the monitor being anywhere over $350 at the max. My biggest issue. I like smaller panels. I grew extremely used to 24" panels as it feels like a nice sweet spot. Coming from a 24" to a 27" after having only used 24" for the longest time, it's overwhelming dealing even a small gradual increase in size.
Top end gaming hardware won't make you a better gamer, but if it feels more comfortable to use then it will be less of an obstruction to your potential performance. Key takeaway is that your potential performance is dependant on putting in the work to get better. You'll see a better performance boost from some exercise and a healthy diet than you will get from a new mouse or monitor.
I actually went from 1440p back to 1080p. I find the 25inch monitor size a lot more comfortable and went from 144hz to 240hz. 1080p will never die out because games will always become more demanding and you'll need a more expensive gpu everytime you upgrade to keep up with using 1440p. 1080p isn't a problem for me at 25inches plus I use dldsr to scale up to a higher resolution in single player games and it looks great. The only way to find these things out is by finding them out for yourself and what's comfortable for you.
I'm thinking of doing the same since I prefer the 24" size as well. Do you notice a difference in resolution? I expected 1440p to be better but it was kinda meh compared to 1080p. Maybe it's because I sit farther back on the 1440p 27" to take it all in which is actually uncomfortable for me.
@@treefiddy727You’ll notice the difference in sharpness with a side by side comparison, but imo it’s not going to be the difference maker for your in game performance. I could see it being great for long range shooters like warzone and other br’s
I feel like normal customers dont want to do the 1440p swap because of hardware requirements that are needed to maintain 360hz 1440p in most competitive games. Some games like CSGO have it really easy hitting those numbers but generally speaking why should I invest into one if I know Im way closer to hardware limitations on 1080p in other games. I would like a follow up video on this where you compare modern competitive titles and compare the hardware requirements on different settings for 360fps on 1080p and 1440p
exactly what i thought. i have 5800x + 3080, its not a bad pc but on 1440p Apex it can barelly maintain 200 fps, while on 1080p its on stable 300 fps cap. like why would i spend 3k dollars to upgrade 1440p 360hz with new GPU to reach the permance, when i can just get a 1080p 360hz for 600 dollars

1440p and generally higher resolutions are way better for shooters with a lot of shimmering details in general (bushes, trees, post processing sharpening effects, specifically Tarkov) and where you sometimes have or can fight enemies at long distances (ARMA, SQUAD, BF series). My awareness and target acquisition became much better when I switched.
I've tried 1080p, 1440p and recently 4K, in Battlefield 1440p and 1080p are simply a joke, you can't see anything, in 4K you literally see the sniper man super far from the map, it's freacking more enjoyable while 1080p you are just a random person which is blind and 1440p is just ok. On Apex is different, 1440p is enough, 1080p is too much blurry, 4K is perfect but the drop in performance here is not that good. But i repeat, if you play Battlefield, go for 4K, 4K is way way better looking than 1440p.
This isn't really the type of monitor you'd generally review, but I have always been really curious about the Odyssey G9 panels. Especially the new OLED ones. I need a lot of monitor space for work but I've been thinking lately that I miss the cleanliness of a single monitor setup. The G9 seems like an absolute monster in terms of a no compromises solution.
dude great video, do you ever play slower triple A single player titles, I'd be curious to know which monitor would be your sweet spot for clarity and sharpness, would you still recommend 240hz? Also 32 inches makes more sense with story driven games as there is more immersion with the larger screen, but the OLEDs for 32 are coming out this year and next
Love the take! I have a 4070 and a g7 240hz 1440p. More than Good enough for me as I’ll probably not go pro ever. I like that you said to get the most out of 1440p 360hz a 80 or 90 would be needed. An interesting video would be cost to play. Spend 3-4K on a pc to play a $60 game at 4K resolution. Vs 300-1000 for a console or budget pc setup for a $60 game at 4K -1440p.
Monitors Unboxed compared the Dyac+ of the xl2566k and ULMB2 from the pg27aqn and the UFO results showed the Zowie looking way crisper. I'm curious if you might have an idea as to why you got such different results. Though it's possible I misunderstood their results.
It's because he used the new NVIDIA tool to compare the monitors. It kinda gives the pg27aqn the edge, because that monitor does give a better image right in the middle of the screen. However, the zowie gives a clearer image overall, and is better at faster motion.
I had pretty heavy headaches, and near seizures with 270hz If you are prone to headaches, or flashes cause seizures for you...stay away from anything above 144hz I actually went back from ASUS top IPS panel that was 270hz 1440p, back to 144hz 1080p and headaches disappeared.
Rocking a VA 1440p240 and I'd agree that after experiencing 1440 I can't go back to 1080. Its not as impactful as going from 60-144hz, but its more than going from 144-240. Its not the highest end monitor, but its diminishing returns from this point on.
The PPI is only slightly better on the 27 inch. For CS I prefer the smaller 24 inch so nothing is out of my peripherals. And 1280x960 is quicker to take in pixel information. Theres a reason whole CS teams use and win majors with it. (Using a custom res so windows doesnt upscale it into a blurry mess.) For other games sure, Id take a 25 inch 1440p and 4K 27 inch but we dont have the fames yet for an enjoyable experience.
Seriously? Less than 5% of fighter pilots can see even the difference going from 200Hz to 240Hz. The hardware requirements for 1440p 360Hz are getting kind of ridiculous just to play competitive games at low settings. Yes, even my 3070 can average over 360 at 1440p low in OW2, but averages don't tell the whole story when there are 500+ fps moments staring at a wall inflating the averages, but the most demanding moments with whole teams on the screen and a lot of stuff happening still go well below 300, and that's when the performance would actually matter most. Even 1440p 240Hz is borderline for consistent performance, and 3070 isn't _that_ bad of a card in 2023. 1440p240 with reasonable enough response times is where I draw the line and start prioritizing other qualities over maximum (motion and picture) clarity.
@@AquilaeYT I'm hesitant to respond one way or another to that. _The_ perfect monitor doesn't exist, everything is still a tradeoff one way or another. Even the PG27AQN here is ridiculously expensive, and other than the 360Hz refresh rate, it is a fairly average monitor otherwise offering a mediocre HDR600 experience, average color reproduction with the typical IPS downsides of poor contrast and uniformity. With how _good enough_ 1440p 240Hz already is for motion clarity and the difficulty of actually running anything at 240+, I'm not putting much emphasis on going beyond that. I'd rather see something like actually good HDR and extended color coverage now, but that's obviously telling I'm not singlemindedly considering only competitive shooter use. OLED monitors are starting to look very good, but they are still very expensive and have limited SDR brightness with some long term durability concerns.
@@SaltyMaud I tested almost all the 1440p panels at high hertz except 360hz, ALL the screens have a problem on purpose like bad OSD, glitch, bad QC, dead pixel, coil whine, bad refresh compliance, feels stuttery or not smooth etc. I'm not saying that I'm looking for the perfect monitor but a monitor that has no flaws that are so obvious that you don't ask yourself if the brand is ripping you off, before this kind of flaws don't exist, even 3/4 years ago. Why are you talking to me about HDR on a competitive screen lmao? no LCD has good HDR and even less on Windows, useless argument. The color reproduction is quite good, do your research, you won't have reproduction like an Eizo screen at 2000 euro professional on a gamer screen, especially with Asus, one of the most marketing brands that exists. In fact you did not understand so I repeat, there is NO "1440p 240hz" currently "good" in LCD, only OLEDs have good motion clarity and good refresh compliance, the rest is marketing shit that feel stuttery or not smooth enough. And then the argument of "burn-in" and longevity is ridiculous, I have an OLED TV and it will soon be 2 years, no image problems, on the LCD on the other hand I had a lot. I am an independent screen tester for my closed circle and I can tell you that apart from Zowie and a few other rare screens, 99% is infamous crap with an obvious defect each time that will make you return the screen. There are plenty of games where 1440p 360hz goes smoothly, Overwatch on my 3070 for example I have no worries, you probably have a problem with YOUR PC but that doesn't make it a generality, in addition, you don't take a 1440p 360hz with a 3070, it's logical and if you do it anyway, it's future proof, I don't understand what you want to mean.
7:45 You end up not even noticing BFI flickering even down to 60hz for 60fps games, you kinda eventually get used to it. I heavily recommend peosple sensitive to it to keep trying even it hurts you at first.
I honestly have leaned more to the 1080p side because that's just what I've rocked for years now. But this is mostly because I haven't had the money to buy a well rounded 1440p monitor yet. So if I was to make the move from my current 27in 165hz monitor to a newer 1440p, Which one would make the transition make me never want to go back? Please everyone feel free to give me some recommendations!
it will make a massive difference and you would never wanna go back to 1080p ever again went from a ips 240hz 1080p to a 240hz 1440p from aorus, and the colors, and just the resolution is so much better and so enjoyable for all around gaming but also just media consumption i got myself 27 inch which if for me big enough
I run the Lg Utragear 27” 1440p ips 165hz-180hz OC. Awesome monitor. They came out a year or so ago so you will find them on sale if they’re still in stock.
I remember a professional R6 Player with the name of Joystick. He said that he used to play 720p for the fps and stability. I also play a lot of R6 and play with a 60Hz monitor with an MX Keys mini and MX Master 2. For me it's not the equipment but more the skill.
That's interesting. 1440p running at the same refresh but with better colour and more pixels. Does this translate to high refresh clarity in video images too, or is it purely through game modes on the GPU?
@@G0A7 I'm trying to figure out if there's a difference here between the image clarity for games and video. I assume there isn't, but I'm not an expert so I ask the question as I'm interested to know if this clarity of image at high refresh is just through gaming settings or is the monitor capable of ths image quality on video too? I'll edit my post though as it should say refresh rather than speed.
@@igavinwood My guess is that if the video is recorded at 120fps or 240fps a screen capable of reproducing those should be better than a 60hz, but most of video is 60 or 24 like films
@@G0A7 It's what I assume, but we are comparing Hz to FPS and they're not the same thing. I've seen tech like TruMotion in use for video playback, but as there are bigger SSDs at smaller physical sizes and camera tech improvements, I'm wondering if high end content is displayed on these monitors with the same clarity. Probably not a issue that most people even care about though, right? Just the geeks with the drones filming highspeed sports ;)
I would love to see a video looking at ULMB at 240Hz on the 360 panel, is ULMB tuned to work at different refresh rates? I know DYAC looks terrible on my monitor if I reduce the refresh rate.
1440p was so much better when I first switched from 1080p. Reading pdfs, movie watching, playing games and everything was instantly a big improvement.
@@TheVanillatech I mean they never really said 1440p is better, he just said it was so much better for them when they switched
And spend the next 2 years running a non native, lower resolution like 1080p that looks absolutely trash cos they bought a 1440p monitor. Even MORE trash cos it's a 27"-32" screen. Money wasted.
As I said, it DEPENDS. It's not just "BETTER" for the VAST majority of people. But it is, for a minority.

Was apex bad at 1440p?
1440p is always better than 1080p. 1440p 144hz is a much better experience than 4K 60hz
The step from FullHD to QHD was the best decision ever. Even if you have to drop some graphics settings, the QHD still looks way better than FullHD.
It's a nobrainer if you have a decent mid-tier gpu. Even with a 2070 Super.
I have a RTX 2060 GB do you think ill be ok with 2560x1440p?
I downgraded from 280hz to 170hz but upgraded from 1080p to 1440p. In my opinion it was definitely worth it. All my games felt so clear and real. I was kind of bummed out though because i dont play competitively, but im still very competitive and want to get every advantage I can. But if you think about it, i would say the average gamer is still running 144hz most likely.
The jump from 60-144 fps is insanely noticeable but 144-280 isn’t crazy imo. Especially on 1440 or 4k pcs aren’t doing 300fps on most games unless it’s a comp game.
I have a 165hz monitor but still run all my games in 60fps. It feels more cinematic. 165 just feels too fast, almost giving me motion sickness.
Some people on cod are still playing on ps4. And then you got the cheaters too...

Congrats on 800k, one of the best! Great video as always
I don't think that OLED has the same issue as others so it doesn't need strobing
OLED burn in was relevant 10 years ago. Missing out fella
@@AdvancedGamingYT OLED isn't any different in that regard, strobing is done to eliminate motion blur caused by the sample-and-hold technique these screens use to display the image. Only on OLED they don't talk about strobing, it's called BFI or black frame insertion.

Yea hopefully we see an oled monitor with a better sub-pixel arrangement.
Did the issue with users getting black screens get fixed with ULMB2? Is that the error you mentioned?

Nah. I went from 4k 60hz to 240hz 1440p. Such a sweet spot man. 1080p did look worse sadly, even on a 24 inch.
Yeh, can't even imagine 4K, to 1440p it's 33% more vertical pixels, 1440p to 4K is 50%
But the performance hit though, 120% more total pixels to render, personally wouldn't go to 4K unless I had a 4090 level gpu.
Currently Cyberpunk runs at around 60fps, at 4K I'd be getting 20. And that's with a 3080 already. 😂

Can't wait for a proper fast IPS 4K 240Hz

Most people dont wanna buy such a monitor, so why u think that he have to review the g9 dont get it.
I love how he just talks about the aseus monitor and ignores the zowie one great video
dude great video, do you ever play slower triple A single player titles, I'd be curious to know which monitor would be your sweet spot for clarity and sharpness, would you still recommend 240hz?
People who go to 1440p 360hz don't realize they need a beefy gpu to back it up. Glad you called it out
heyyy good quality again
Amazing video, really loved it!
I had pretty heavy headaches, and near seizures with 270hz
If you are prone to headaches, or flashes cause seizures for you...stay away from anything above 144hz
I actually went back from ASUS top IPS panel that was 270hz 1440p, back to 144hz 1080p and headaches disappeared.
(Using a custom res so windows doesnt upscale it into a blurry mess.)
For other games sure, Id take a 25 inch 1440p and 4K 27 inch but we dont have the fames yet for an enjoyable experience.
I’m sticking to 1080p 360Hz just so much easier to run. Plus IRDC about resolution. 1080p is sharp enough.

The problem is that there is no good 1440p 240hz, they all have issues or something.
