You probably now very little about computers if u think "rescaling (upscaling)" and smooth out from 20fps to 60fps is cheap-ass then you're completly wrong. to do that you need days of work and even more days of render even with a really beefy pc

It's completely free and the only thing it takes is time. It's a 90 second video interpolating 36 frames per second, for a total of 90*60=5400 frames to be rendered. Assuming your computer is slow as shit and takes 10 seconds to render the interpolated frames and 1 second to render the normal frames, it would take 9.6 hours to render, which is basically an overnight job. It's not that hard, literally every anime OP in recent history has had a 60fps interpolated opening. This video is made from scratch so of course it's more "costly", instead of created 24fps they're more than doubling the frames they need to create, thus more than doubling their workload.
Hacking to the Gate is such a good song that I would click on it regardless of what the visuals were, but I have to say that this looks gorgeous in its own right. A different visual style from the original, but specifically the diagrams and other convoluted visual elements of the original just feel so smooth and beautiful at this resolution. Great work!

This makes me appreciate the original opening more, which I sometimes take for granted. Like the opening animation is so complicated and intricate, a studio could easily mess that up or opt for an easier opening animation. I'm really glad to see this recreation too. It's amazing! This is what "some animes"(edited) nowadays looks like. resolution is high and colors are clear but looks unnatural. They make medium quality anime with low price, not high quality with high price. But this is good job because this is fan made

I absolutely love how the geometry in the beginning is so clear and sharp, watching it makes a damn hypnotic dive effect. My second fav part is how Kurisu looks as close to 3D as you can get in 2D.
