Beyond just Anime, they are handsdown my fav couple of all times. They’ve got everything right, from the witty banter, instant chemistry, amazing dynamic, a firm trust in each other built gradually with time and a romance that spans across time and space. And the plot of this series handles their romance perfectly. This isn’t a romance centred anime but its easily among the best done romances in Anime. And its not the teenage cheesy type either but a mature one that involves not just their passionate feelings but also of an equally amazing work relationship. Her meticulous resourcefulness goes perfectly with his eccentric ingenuity- Perfect Partners-in-crime. Following closely, my other favs would be Holo X Lawrence (Spice and Wolf), Senjougahara X Araragi X Shinobu (Gatari series) and Hachiman X Yukino (Oregairu).

Depression and elation are core part of Steins;Gate, even after watching the anime for the 6th time during past 2 weeks it still doesn't feel old, i even went bit nuts this time and played all the VN's, watched everything (animes, movie, the stage play), listened to the Drama CD's (with english transcripts, i'm still not that big of a weeb to understand japanese fluently) and read the mangas, even that butchered one and i have to say that this time my PS;GDS (Post Steins;Gate Depression Syndrome) is the worst it's ever been, if i said that Steins;Gate is an absolute pinnacle of perfection, it still would be an understatement of ~13,7 billion years of the universes current time of existence.
I've wondered about that. Kurisu tears Okabe apart in the alpha timeline, insisting time travel is impossible. But in the beta one, Amadeus isn't entirely closed off to the idea, and we know what happens when Kurisu tries to share her theory with her father. So I suspect Kurisu's stubborn opposition in the alpha timeline directly relates to how she sees her father.
Kurisu actually was researching time travel before she met okabe. The reason she no longer does that is because her father steals her work. So she has stopped her research in time travel. In the beta worldline, that event is yet to occur. Thankfully, okabe saved her
I like that at the start of the series the series itself admits how silly the idea is, but it's completely in-story. Kurisu completely destroys all notion of time travel, but then almost immediately has to deal with the fact that it's reality for them. With this your suspension of disbelief is not broken because the characters themselves don't believe what they see happening. It's great.
Honestly something about Steins Gate always felt like it lended itself to cosmic horror for me. Even little things like the pseudo-supernatural experiences Okabe has with Mayuri after meddling with time too much. I feel like you could branch off of Steins Gate into a paranormal narrative and it would entirely track with the shows themes, tone and approach to science.

It's also the memory of it that gave Steins;Gate 0 its added pathos. Okabe was missing a "Christiiiiiiina!"-shaped hole in his heart. It brought into relief how much Amadeus both was and was not Kurisu.
I really wish that they make another Canon series of Steins Gate after all the tragedy. Where in that season it's a story of them living a normal life, trying to make gadgets and just goofing off I think every fan of the series would love to watch it
I'm very glad this series ended on a happy note, and the implications of them becoming a couple are obvious to the point of the show giving a text box outright saying it. I mean he flat out confesses twice in the entire series. (Counting episode 25 ova) It's rare to find anime as masterfully crafted as one like this, and get a sweet ending with the main couple.
I forgot how old Kurisu was so when she said she was a minor I couldn't believe it, until Okabe screamed and she got scared which shows how young and innocent she still is. I kinda feel bad though

I heard the reason he doesn't say her real name is.....he just couldn't, he's embarrased to say her real name. You know that, calling someone by their real first name in Japanese culture is somewhat the declaration of romantic love (Im not an english native so please forgive me if ive made any mistake in terms of language)
