@@PRubin-rh4sr as someone who watch this show since the start, shaun is so much unlikeable just in season 2, season 2 was awful as heck, they could've made shaun like whay morgan do after she left surgeon and join internist, shaun can run back and forth to diagnose surgeons' patients and help to assist surgeons if needed, proving dr. Han that he IS a surgeon. Instead they made him having unnecessary meltdown 🙄.
People are supposed to think together and share each other's opinions. I like how you tube gives us the opportunity to realise that just because 90% of people think so, there really isnt a higher possibility of it being correct.
>Shaun: "WHY CAN'T I BE A SURGEON DOCTOR HAN?! I AM A SURGEON!!!!" >Also Shaun, has a meltdown mid surgery in the operating room and flees the room with patient still inside. >Takes 5 minutes to calm down and actually explain what's wrong, promoting panic amongst staff. Dr. Han was right.
@@SoManyColours Not in this kind of situation, they aren't. A surgeon in the middle of a surgery doesn't have the luxury of "learning to deal with the struggles they have" while there's an open body on the table. And they would sure as hell be thrown out of that hospital and most likely have their medical license permanently revoked if they not only left the surgery center mid-procedure, but also tore off their surgical mask and started yelling over a patient with an open surgical wound. All of the gear they wear and the extremely thorough scrubdowns that they do in preparation for a surgery? That isn't just for shits and giggles or because they like the aesthetic. Contaminating the surgery center - which is exactly what he did, and egregiously so at that - could quite literally lead to a life-threatening infection, and is a prime example of medical malpractice in action.
I loved the part where Dr. Shaun Murphy said "it's autism time!" and screamed "I am a surgeon! I am a surgeon, Dr. Han!'" to every person in the hospital. The show writers did a very good job subtly suggesting that the main character might be both autistic and a surgeon.
He literaly left a patient open in an OR and just left, and we are suposed to be rootig fro him? Dr Han was right, he shouldn't be working on that hospital
2:15 Freddie Highmore's acting really moves me here. You can really feel the emotion of him wanting to cry, not because he will lose the surgery but because if he does it, he might fail because it is too complex for him and the patient will die. Then, when he agrees he will lose his case, he calms down a little bit because he agrees he won't be able to do it himself. Finally, when Dr. Lim asks him if he can guide them through it, he says yes, in a tone that implies he would be more than happy to do it.
It is a good representation of autism within the part of the spectrum the character is in, within a fictional TV show that would be extremely unlikely to take place in reality.
It's actually rather inaccurate. I am on the spectrum high functioning and trust me when I say this I get outbursts...but not like these... these are over the top and extremely inaccurate compared to an actual autistic person. This is more on the lines of bordering non vocal a kind of middle ish to lowish functioning autistic person barely on the cusp to to live relatively normally but with more of that "autistic" attitude. This is over the top especially for his spectrum in the show
I mean, let's just be honest here: Trained surgeon runs from the theater screaming "NO NO CAN'T DO IT" at the top of his lungs with no explanation, he's unemployed and possibly facing criminal charges before his hand touches the exit door
@@bigbruh299 I didn't say I "expected the show to be 100% true." Like, if they discovered, then treated, a fictional disease on this show, I'd have no problem with that. My problem is, they establish PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATION to work very close to real life, then do this. They need to either establish that this is standard, or punish him for this, and they don't do either to any adequate degree.

I've been in that situation- too many major things going on at once, so brain decides to shut off the ability to talk- before, but I've never seen it portrayed on screen. I've never had any idea of what I might look like when I'm like that.
I know. It is an eye opener for me too. But I always say what other people think of me is none of my business.
Meltdown and shutdown at the same time, i’ve felt it... btw, i’m on the high end of the spectrum... (Asperger Syndrome)
Same here. I remember having meltdowns and shutting down in school though I’m on the higher side of the spectrum. Aspergers

Maybe he was, but i still believe the world is a better place when Shaun is a surgeon.
A person is allowed to make mistakes and learn and to learn to deal with struggles they have.
@@SoManyColours
I agree with that, but I don't think performing surgery on a patient would be a good time to do that.
He also called a patient a terrorist for getting chemical burns while looking brown

Dr. Han was right.
I loved the part where Dr. Shaun Murphy said "it's autism time!" and screamed "I am a surgeon! I am a surgeon, Dr. Han!'" to every person in the hospital. The show writers did a very good job subtly suggesting that the main character might be both autistic and a surgeon.
Are you going to post this on every Good Doctor clip?

The fact that people thought this was a good representation for autism
Its not?????
It is, is just thqt autism is a spectrum, some act like like.
It is a good representation of autism within the part of the spectrum the character is in, within a fictional TV show that would be extremely unlikely to take place in reality.
I know right they made him so childish, it's just so wrong
It's actually rather inaccurate. I am on the spectrum high functioning and trust me when I say this I get outbursts...but not like these... these are over the top and extremely inaccurate compared to an actual autistic person. This is more on the lines of bordering non vocal a kind of middle ish to lowish functioning autistic person barely on the cusp to to live relatively normally but with more of that "autistic" attitude. This is over the top especially for his spectrum in the show
Always hated how this show depicted autism
I am a sturgeon
Yeah, mostly used for drama, the outburst is fairly accurate but the show makes it look like is reaaaally common, like taking a shit or smnt.

He is a surgeon.
