I found Sean’s takes to be objectively terrible this podcast. His Ryan Reynolds hate was blatantly showing.

This movie was exactly what it was supposed to be. It’s empty calories, but it’s delicious. Perfect for the summer months. My girlfriend didn't know half of the references, but she still loved it and said she would see it again. We have to stop comparing these comic book movies to other films. They are a different thing. They serve a different purpose.
Wesley's line about "I don't like you." I think that was real from their experience on Blade: Trinity. But Ryan Reynolds is a producer, so he definitely had a say in whether Wesley would return. He threw him a bone! Much respect to Ryan Reynolds. I loved the film!
The song from The Greatest Showman briefly plays when Deadpool and Wolverine are fighting in the van.
For the people who say the movie has a plot issue or doesn’t take itself serious, are missing the entire movie serves as a meta commentary on a mid life crisis, as that is what Wade and Logan are going through and have to go on a classic hero journey for forgiveness and redemption, but most importantly want to do something to actually matter in life, which is why it was poetic they had to come together to physically grab the matter and antimatter cores at the end.
The movie knows it’s audience, knows it’s going to be mostly 90’s baby who also are likely having similar mid life issues which is also why the soundtrack is full of songs that were hits from when we were kids.
When Snipes said the only one Blade line I immediately thought “what about Sticky Fingaz in the Blade tv show?!?”

Twisters so far made a little over $150 mils (its own budget) and it's hard to say for sure if it'll get over $300 mils worldwide, but Sean keeps talking about it like it made Despicable Me 4 money or something
I liked the movie a lot. I thought of it as one big joke, and was laughing consistently throughout the whole thing. I thought the meta/4th wall break aspect worked really well. Surprised some felt differently
one of the big problems i did have was they cant make jokes about superhero movie cliches, then do that very same thing and expect us to care. They cant take themselves that seriously after some of the jokes early on
You guys were waaay off on your forecast of the audience reaction for this picture. Movie almost made half a billion dollars worldwide in less than 5 days.

@@MrSiblio09 We might look back on this film after several viewings and like it a bit less, but most MCU fans were waiting on this film. The comment about women not showing up to the movie was weird too. My Deadpool/Wolverine screening was almost packed on yesterday and it was split about 50/50 male to female. The first 2 movies made almost $800 million apiece with even less hype and marketing. Jeebus.
@42:30 So they did speak on this, in fact it’s the whole reason for the movie. MCU is leading up to Secret Wars and Battleworld, and Mr. Paradox was given specific orders from higher ups to ensure that Deadpool makes it to earth 616 on Sacred Timeline because his universe is dying, at which point they introduced the plot device of anchor beings.
Anchor beings will replace the role molecule man served in the Secret Wars comics, and the void is where Battleworld will be.
Cassandra Nova in this movie came super close to creating Battleworld herself with that machine, so that tells us if somebody like Doom were to get into the TVA he could easily create Battleworld with a similar plot device.
And even tho the movie ended with Deadpool back in his own universe, that is still not where he is supposed to be, he was supposed to be moved to the Sacred Timeline for what is likely a coming battle, probably this will be what Doomsday is about.

Am I the only one who thought when Blade said the "there's only 1 Blade" and Deadpool looks at the camera like little does he know there. Not as a dig to Wesley but to the character of Blade. Plus the MCU is taking forever for the next Blade to come out

Your fatigue does not equal someone else's. Yes, we comic book nerds and general movie goers have experienced 30 years of comic book movies but somewhere there is going to be a kid to whom Anthony Mackie will be Captain America. That kid may be talking about seeing Brave New World on a podcast 20 years from now.
Disney especially is good at this. They have been making animated movies for a century and no one is saying "We have princess fatigue." We may get tired of them but movies will evolve and new audiences are coming along. We're just finally starting to age out.
Frankly, it's remarkable that we've even had these movies to keep us engaged in something most of us put down a long time ago. Comic books were never meant for people in their 40's. Marvel's big mistake may be casting them as heroes in their movies. Hopefully, by the time the X-men come back around the cast will be more Tom Holland than Pedro Pascal and those of us who don't have jobs talking about movies, will not care.

What's funny Sean talking about the Wizard era is that they had a Casting Call section where they would fan cast all these movies based on IPs. The X-Men one is one of my favs they did where they had Danzig for Wolverine, Nicole Kidman for Jean Grey, JCVD as Gambit
This movie is the "Inside Baseball" for CBMs
all the appearances are fun and nice, but, they are there from the decades worth of casting information, production tidbits, SDCC reveals, etc.,
Sean is also RIGHT, Deadpool & Wolverine is basically the Airplane! for this genre. Years from now, revisiting this film would be interesting because at least Airplane! still works as a spoof, but, all the jokes in this film is so hinged to everything outside of the movies itself
I loved the movie and at about 20 minutes into this all I can think is Willoughby saying, “this is supposed to be fun, and now I’m not, having, it.”

Ed Norton, Chris Evans, Wesley snipes, Channing Tatum, Ben affleck and sure x23 let those have been the anchor beings. That’s cool and makes the fox films semi relevant still.
FWIW it’s worth, in my showing, there were a ton of women (of various ages) who were dying at all of the jokes and having the time of their lives

There were a lot of older (older than me, 39) overweight women in my theater. I sat next to a FAMILY (mom, dad, two teenage/early 20s? Girls). There were probably as many women in my theater as men. I live in Cincinnati not liberal California so I don't know what that other world, not America at all, is like... And I understand their confusion of what America is like based off their live studio audience... Wow

@@spinner2989Without a double TH-cam has ruined movies not only with their rage bait, but also with the million video essayists who critique every reel of every film just pointing out every single flaw possible, like these things were never an issue until recently, and it creates this illusion that movies are no longer good, when in reality, nothing in life can hold up to that type of criticism.
On the "are women going to see this movie" front, I can confirm my 78yr old nanna is very excited to see this because she loves Wolverine. Her favourite movie possibly of all time is Logan, which we saw in cinemas. So yeah I know its a joke but I think women are gonna see it lol.

I think all of you make valid points but ultimately this is a Deadpool movie and I believe everything is fair under the Deadpool banner. It's a comedy, it's meta, it doesn't take itself too seriously. This is what the Deadpool movies are. This isn't an MCU movie, is not even Deadpool in the MCU (besides one interaction with Happy).
If I treat this as an asterisk in the whole superhero genre, it's fucking fantastic. As a movie-movie? Not so much. This movie either is for you, or it isn't.

Bingo. Reynolds actually took the Deadpool shtick to 11 in this movie to contrasts the older more bitter Wolverine and allow Hugh to consistently ground the movie and basically be the voice of the audience which is why there are times where DP is clearly taking the jokes way too far and Logan has to ground him.
TVA, the worst thing to happen to the MCU, it is the reason that franchise is over

Amanda is actually really on to something here....the indestructible edgelord shit has been getting old. It's also why it's tougher to pull off a compelling stand-alone movie focusing on a Hulk or Superman....and yeah, the Multiverse approach just double or triple downs on that concept.
Van talked about John McClane or Axel Foley but sorry, those guys can get hurt or messed up.....and that raises the stakes. Part of what's so damn compelling about Die Hard is watching McClane endure what he endures physically.....and SOME of the Batman movies have tapped into this too.

Well you kinda missed the point of this movie as both Wade and Logan learn into the regenerating healing part and fight each other throughout very savagely, while Logan is always pushing back on the edgelord part, but for Wade in the beginning of the movie he says “I know I turn everything into a joke, and act like I don’t care, but that’s because I do care, and want to matter.”
So the actual point of the movie is you can be an indestructible edgelord but if that doesn’t get you what you really want in life then what is the point? That is why the movie starts off with a mid life crisis Deadpool.
I can totally see that this movie will get criticism from some folks but what their overall pov seems off to me. Sean and co are criticizing the movie without offering an alternative to what the movie should be.

You are right. Sean has let it be known he does not like Ryan Reynolds or Shawn Levy at all. Sean went unhinged on an episode where he called “Free Guy” the worst film ever made. My wife watches the mcu movies only because I dragged her to them. Other than infinity war and endgame, this was her favorite “mcu” movie. She loved the action , music, comedy, and pace of the film. She even said she would go back and watch it. So to Sean’s point I do understand if you think woman wouldn’t wanna go watch the movie but I beg to defer. Also I think Ryan totally just made this movie for millennials and said fuck anyone else 😂

I’m a mcu stan but I love how dismissive Amanda is of it all. These are stories for kids. Not everyone needs to worship at the altar of Marvel, especially when Sean notes the movie doesn’t take itself seriously. So why should we?
This was a good funeral for the MCU. It’s buried and gone now we can move on from this.
You weirdos been saying this for years, and here we are with what is about to be the highest grossing Rated R movie of all time while also becoming one of the most beloved comic book movies of all time.
And just last night Marvel officially announced the Russo Brothers are back to direct the next 2 Avengers movies, and those guys not only don’t miss, but every movie they have made in the MCU, Endgame, Infinity War, Civil War, and Winter Soldier are certified classic.
And if that’s not enough the real Marvel Jesus has also returned with RDJ returning to play Doom.
Avengers 5 is going to be Doomsday and this is likely the reason somebody higher up told Paradox to ensure DP get’s into the Sacred Timeline to help with the war that is coming, which will lead directly into Secret Wars which will undoubtedly be the biggest comic book movie of all time.
So when are you guys going to give up the shtick? It’s getting old now.
@Byronic19134 Facts. When did we go from everyone being different and enjoying different things, to everyone should unanimously agree to hate this. Many people have a hard on for hating certain content, so they assume it should somehow apply to everyone. When people are no longer satisfied with content, I wish they were mature enough to just say this is no longer for me. They can silently move on over to a different fandom of content. Opinions and critiques are one thing, but some act like they’re hatred or disdain is law and should apply to everyone. While I have my own critiques, I’m still an avid fan of marvel, and am 100% excited for all that you just mentioned.

I was not a comic guy but liked the Spider-Man movies with TObey ok.. I'm 34 now.. followed the MCU, thought it was good, never great. (Preferrred the The Dark Knight trilogy). Liked Endgame very much, but after that film, I have lost interest in the MCU. I just don't see where they are going. It needs a reinvigorate.
