    Their new model is even better, comes with Deore 10 spd ... got mine at a Costco in Alberta for $520. I think I do need to upgrade at least my crank arms to get them a little longer but hands down this is an amazing deal!

      I bought the upgraded model last week as well. XCF. I love it so far. 560 plus tax here in Newfoundland. He has the video titled wrong, this is the upgraded version in this video. He has the XCF in the description but XC00 in title. This is definitely the XCF.

      @@TheLastHonestInfluencer actually upon closer look at your video... you def have the latest version. Deore 10spd(which shifts like a dream!) with a freewheel cassette is what blew my mind for this price! Great review. My wife and I bought these bikes this winter and had a blast riding them on the snow. The Shimano Deore 1x10 shifter and derailer have worked perfectly even when caked in mud. We get a lot of ice on the trails in our area so I upgraded to 45NRTH studded tires which are fantastic. I also put on 170mm cranks with a smaller chainring which makes it easier to climb hills especially when the snow is deeper. Even with the added cost of a few upgrades theses bikes are excellent value.

    • @TheLastHonestInfluencer
      @TheLastHonestInfluencer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Mike, really appreciate the comment. Those sound like solid upgrades considered doing the same. With the extra cost it's still well under base price of a new brand name fat bike. Glad to hear youre having the same great experience with yours! Have a good one man

    I got mine from Costco, in Hamilton, $563, is the cheapest bike I own, and I am very pleased with the bike quality and price, Bike is upgradable. My only complaint is the crankset, is just 155 mm, I am 6.2 feet tall , need a 170mm.

      Noticed on Costco website last Saturday. Regular price is $449. A promo dropped the price to $349. Promo ended that night. Just before midnight, I pulled the trigger. I turned 53 a few months ago. Just looking for a fun way to become more active and drop a few pounds. Currently 6ft and 232lbs. Least expensive starter bike in a local bike shop is over $800. My very limited research says this should be ideal for my needs. Certainly hope so. I've yet to unbox it. I know nothing about putting bikes together and swapping out parts/components. Hopefully it will be simple and I wont need to swap out anything. Will post an update in a few months.

    • @TheLastHonestInfluencer
      @TheLastHonestInfluencer  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you made a great choice Charles! For that price you can’t go wrong. With all the instruction videos on TH-cam now bike maintenance is pretty easy these days and you can learn as you need to. It’s pretty easy to put together and doesn’t require too much tinkering except for the brakes. An honest bike shop could help you dial it in real nice for around $50 as well. Enjoy! I look forward to you progress update thank you for your comment!

    Thank you for the review. Quick Question... do you know if the handlebars on the North rock can be raised. That's a big issue for me, I don't like hunching down all the time. The first thing I did with my summer mountain bike is order some handlebar raisers from Amazon. Again, thanks for the review. I spotted this bike at Costco, but wasn't really sure if this would serve as a good 'first fat bike'. Looks like it might fit the bill, provide a good winter work out on the trails.

    • @TheLastHonestInfluencer
      @TheLastHonestInfluencer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Paul thank you for the comment and for watching. Being taller I'm with you on the hunch situation. Fat biking in the snow is more work so hunching for an hour was tolerable for me, but on other bikes I do what you spoke of and got a longer stem. I'm sure you could buy one for these too, I couldn't raise the handle bars more than half an inch on mine. Giant manufactures these bikes so I'd try to go with one from them, most likely an easy fit. Hope that helps!

      Speaking to the quality for the money it's a great first fat bike. I've been cycling a long time and have ridden this one over 2500km in winter, spring and over the summer. All the components are holding up well, my only complaint is the brakes but for the money you can't go wrong. Cheers

    Hey man, thanks for your review. Really appreciate it, just but the bike and was wondering if the brakes were defective in mine. I know you said that they can be adjusted, but would you just replace them altogether

    • @TheLastHonestInfluencer
      @TheLastHonestInfluencer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Luis thank you for the comment! Honestly if you can I'd just replace them altogether. The ones that came with both of ours are still driving me nuts. I adjust them on both bikes constantly, after every ride it's like they need to be realigned or they rub and squeak and create some rolling resistance. Sounds like it's a pretty common problem and after doing a lot of research most people just swap out the caliper and pads. That's probably what I'll be doing fairly soon as well. Hope that helps man! Other than the brakes these bikes are sweet. We've got about 1500km on ours now and still loving them. Have a good one man!

    • @TheLastHonestInfluencer
      @TheLastHonestInfluencer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice! It’s ok in the summer but where it really shines is in snow and slush imo.
      If you flip your bike upside down or pick each tire up individually they should spin freely with no resistance. I found these brakes to be very tricky to adjust to get the tires so spin without the brakes resisting that spin.

      Yes, that is the only complaint about this bike. It is so hard to find one, especially this time of year. We barely got ours off the website, I had to check every day first thing in the morning. They sell out same day. The second one we lucked out and they basically sold it to us by accident they said as they has already pulled it from the site. Anyhow I called and they said they won't get them back until this fall which is a significant bummer. It seems to be a Costco exclusive model. You could try calling and put in a request for one. • @TheLastHonestInfluencer

      It takes more effort to peddle the fat tires for sure, much more rolling resistance. I pump the tires right up to their max pressure when I'm riding on paved pathways and this helps, but it's still a lot more work and you won't go nearly as fast. That said, I love how I can bike all winter....not possible with a regular road bike!
