    I love the vorpal sword being named snicker snack, considering that's the sound made by THE vorpal sword in The Jabberwocky.

    • @Nyghtking
      @Nyghtking 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jabberwocky is also a creature in the book, it's a weird looking dragon with some unique qualities.

      @@Nyghtking @Nyghtking by "the book" I assume you mean Through the Looking Glass. If so... no it isn't? It's just mentioned in the poem, where it isn't even described. It's image as a dragon is from the illustration only, kind of like Humpty Dumpty.

    Missed the coolest part about Snicker Snack. When you miss with an attack roll 3 times in a row, the sword will end the attunement on you. During your next long rest, you have to attempt a contested Charisma Check to re-attune to the sword.

    Potion of Advantage sounds like a placeholder name that they forgot to change. I would change it to Potion of Changing Fortune or Potion of Upper Hand. Something like that

      Potion of inspiration would have been a serviceable name.

    The whole fey vs fey ancestry charming issue could be related to the fact that most low-level charm spells like charm person and dominate person don't work on non-humanoids like fey, as compared to spells like dominate monster or charm monster. Elves and other humanoids having fey ancestry, arguably, should only have advantage on charm effects that target specifically humanoids

    • @Lordofgiraffes
      @Lordofgiraffes 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Or, in a realm where creatures with charm abilities are so prevalent, having an ancestry that was resistant to these effects was an evolutionary advantage for elves

    Nice video!
    Regarding Woodcutter's axe - Yes this version is unique, you're correct, but similar ones that exist in modules and such:
    Hew from Lost Mines of Phandelver - his +1 battleaxe deals maximum damage when the wielder hits a plant creature or an object made of wood. The axe's creator was a dwarf smith who feuded with the dryads of a forest where he cut firewood. Whoever carries the axe feels uneasy whenever he or she travels through a forest.
    Treebane from Curse of Straad (your fave) - The axe's handle is carved with leaves and vines, and it weighs half as much as a normal battleaxe. When the axe hits a plant, whether an ordinary plant or a plant creature, the target takes an extra 1d8 slashing damage. When a creature of non-good alignment wields the axe, it sprouts thorns whenever its wielder makes an attack with it. These thorns prick the wielder for 1 piercing damage after the attack is made, and this damage is considered magical.
    Edit: I actually located the weapon this axe is templated from!!! It's a longsword called Macuahuitl from Tales form the Yawning Portal!! The only extra thing the woodcutter's axe has is the damage to wooden objects. Macuahuitl - You have a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this longsword, which is made of laminated wood, and inset with jagged teeth of obsidian. It deals an extra 2d6 damage to any creature of the plant type.
    Interestingly, Hew and Treebane do not have specified rarities, but I'd put them as rare at least. Woodcutter's Axe actually specifies it's rare.
    Edit: Macuahuitl also doesn't have a specific rarity.

    I think with a bit of flavoring the scissors could be a must have for stealthy character builds. Having no shadow can make sneaking around much easier in certain environments.

    ‘Twas brilig, and the slithy toves did gyre and gimble in the wabee. All mimzy where the borogroves and the momaraths outgrabe.
    Beware the jaberwock, the jaws that bite the claws that catch. Beware the Juub juub bird.
    And shun the frumious bandersnatch.
    He took his Vorpal sword in hand. Long time the maxome foe he sought. So rested he by a tum tum tree, and stood a while in thought.
    And as he stood the jabberwock with eyes of flame came wifling through the tulgee wood and burbled as it came.
    One two one two and through and through.
    THE VORPAL BLADE WENT SNICKER SNACK
    He left it dead, and with its head, he went gallumping back.
    “And has thou slain the jaberwock?!? Oh Frabjous Day Calloo Callaaay!” He chortled in his joy
    ‘Twas brilig and the slithy toves did gyre and gimble in the wabe. All mimzy where the borogoroves and the momoroths outgrabe.

    The woodcutter axe is A slightly different version of the axe found in curse of Strahd. You’ll find that axe in that module on Yester hill that’s imbedded inside the Gulthias tree. And the axe does a 1D8 extra slashing damage on the plant, Plant creatures and wooden items. And if you’re not a good aligned creature you take one point of piercing damage every single time use it.

      At first I thought it was a beefed up version of Hew from Lost Mines of Phandelver... Although Hew is only +1 and just does max damage against plant creatures. There really is a lot of magic axes vs plants...

    I played a AI game as a tabaxi rogue, I wound up getting a +1 Longsword, however it was cursed. All the curse did was make it to where I required x2 the amount of food & drink. Not seeing this as a downside after this was explained to her, she started using it even more and affectionately named it Snicker-Snack..... snicker cause it was fun to use and snack cause it made her hungry. Guess when that game starts again I'll have to change that bit.

    How would that cauldron’s aging effect affect a warforged? That could be a terrifying thing to witness. I imagine Ultron both falling apart and being snapped away by thanos. What remains is that robot from treasure planet.

    • @neoman4426
      @neoman4426 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Strictly speaking RAW, it wouldn't. It's a magical aging effect, which their age trait explicitly makes them immune to, and it doesn't specifically call out that it bypasses such immunities. A DM could potentially decide that Artifact level magical aging bypasses that trait I suppose though.

    The Vane and Watch are stupid powerful. You can use the spells YES number of times, only having to roll the d8 for Polymorph and Invisibility, respectively, and even if you roll a 3 or 8, you're only barred from casting those particular spells. You can still cast either Dancing Lights and Ray of Frost, or Firebolt and Message.
    Now, I know. They're just cantrips. But what if you're running a Fighter, or a Paladin, and have no ranged weapon/spell? Now you do. Ray of Frost is ok, and Firebolt is actually a decent little 1d10 'fuck you'. Being cantrips, IIRC, they don't upscale if cast from an item, so they'll be doing their base, level 1 damage. Still, pretty good ranged elemental option for certain characters

    I think Steel is a bit underrated. It let's classes that wouldn't normally get Revivify have an emergency use of the spell. Plus from a roleplay standpoint, it's always worried about its wielder's well-being and it doesn't like backing out of a fight. Imagine a really self-conscious or introverted Warlock who wields a really optimistic blade who encourages them to eat well and have faith in themselves.
