    The idea of the NPC's role play cards is an idea that should go forward with all new 5e books.

    The wonderful thing about this adventure for me is it feels like a toy box of idea's ans Concepts the Fairy and Harengon both being elements that slot into both game worlds.

    Ahhh, I miss Chris and watching his excellent DMing.
    I've got mixed anticipation about this adventure. I've enjoyed the content, if not the cohesive story, of the last few years major adventures. I liked Avernus/Helturel setting and loved the first half style of Frostmaiden.
    Feywild I'm less bothered by, but it seems they've come up with some interesting aspects: the carnival and 'games', the RP cards, some fascinating monsters (though there were a good number from VGTM already), and the flexibility of tone (scaling down combat and making RP or problem solving more of a solution). It has the vibe of catering more for new DMs, which is cool, but may run a risk of putting off more experienced ones. Mind you, experienced DMs often mash up official content games anyway!
    Still undecided whether to check it out.
    Money's on Shadowfell with Neverwinter next year, plus Dragonlance, and maybe Spelljammer. Who knows?
    (And if I read the word 'whimsy' once more I'll scream)

    I might pick this one up and run it for my little sisters in grade school. This adventure seems pretty much made for them. I love the fact that you don’t have to use combat to solve story plot, I can have them play without having to expose them to violent behaviors (don’t get me wrong I love combat in my own games but I don’t want a 8 year old and a 10 year old going to school bragging how she cut the head off the goblin and her sister used magic to blow up a Kobold) I hope having the whimsy and mostly upbeat setting will make them feel excited and delighted at how silly things can be and push them to use communication skills to solve problems.

    With all this amazing art work in every new campaign released it's such a shame they don't do an animated series. A bunch of one-shot type episodes in each setting, telling the tale of a random adventurer/s. That would be awesome.

    Unfortunately this adventure is more like a disney version of how I envisioned the feywild. I have never understood why the creatures walk around dressed up in (over the top) 19th century garb, why there is more of a candy cotton feeling to the world. I had hoped for the world of the fey being a world of "nature unleashed", with ideas towards the more somber take on fey creatures that "are " nature and come into conflict with typical human ideals of ruling over nature rather than being part of it. In short - I had hoped for a "druid heaven" kind of setting. Oh, well, maybe I can steal some elements here.

      I never desired a whimsical carnival/ Alice & Wonderland D&D. I get there may be a market out there, but this one is not for me. My Feywild is very different. I hope some enjoy it. Different D&D is better than no D&D to me.

      This is one domain of delight within the fey wild just as Borovia is one domain of dread within the shadow fell there is room for your druid's heaven. This feels very consistent with medieval faerie and mythology akin to Arthurian tales and the mabinogion. It borrows from Oz and wonderland too of course and mashes it all together in a package I find quite delightful and aesthetically pleasing.

    • @JohnHPixelMD
      @JohnHPixelMD 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Couldn't agree more. It's like WotC are afraid of making high level adventures anymore and the only way to get them, without making a full campaign on your own, is to convert some of the past edition heroic and epic campaigns into 5e which is not as easy as it sounds.
