      Thank you good sir. What an awesome bike, just not quite right for me this time round. I need a longer leg or Triumph need to release a low chassis version. A superb compliment to your RR. 👍😃

    After following your channel with interest and finally deciding to go for a Gen 3 1200 Alpine, I have been looking at the new bike with interest. I think it's a shame that they have changed some things on this model for the worse (in my opinion). I know most of them are weight saving like going back to double sided swingarm and removing the electric screen, but I think it's a real shame what they have done to the backend/rear rack seat area. They have removed all of the useful places you can attached bags/straps and luggage and replaced with a nonsense blind spot radar. I think it's a shame that they have removed real world useful things like this and added pointless tech just to try and keep up with the competition. Glad I went with the Gen 3 - I think it's a keeper !

    • @terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff
      @terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff  ปีที่แล้ว

      And the Gen 3 is no bad choice, still an awesome machine and as you say, thoroughly practicable. I would hate to think how much the blind spot mirrors would cost to replace in a small drop. The new bike is better I think but yes, you got to pay for that weight loss, sometimes not for the better. The electric windshield springs to mind, it made the bike quite unique in this segment. Obviously weight loss was the No 1 principle design characteristic they we’re looking for. Thanks for watching 👍.

      @@terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff I am just about to replace the mirrors on mine with some folding units. I agree with you about the heated grips - they are pathetic (come on Triumph there is no excuse for that). Both bikes sound horrible and way too quiet with the standard exhaust, fortunately Fuel Exhausts sorted that out :)

      @@buncobooth the motor is characteristically Triumph, sounds a bit like a bag of bolts, the same as my Daytona 😬. It can be a bit of a shock to first time Triumph owners 😁.

    • @heinrichberg2998
      @heinrichberg2998 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I owned an '18 XRT and a '22 Rally Pro. Comparing the two models, the Rally Pro engine really sounds like a bag of bolts. The big drawback with the '22 models is that there is nowhere to put the tools. I remind you that this is an adventure bike. For example, a tire repair kit. You are going on a trip of about 6,000 km, so you should have this thing with you. OK, I'll put it in the luggage, but maybe I'd like to do a little bit of offroading on the trip, without luggage, so where do I put the tire repair kit, along with the sandwich, in the jacket pocket?
      For me, the electric windshield is not a problem, rather the dashboard is not designed for an adventure bike. The tachometer shines in the middle of the dashboard - it's more like that of a sportbike. Who cares about the tachometer after 5000 km on an adventure bike? Fuel balance, daily mileage, etc. necessary for a traveler are only available in the menus and one by one... You have to look for the warning lights on the screen - it's here, then it's there... Did some kid design this dashboard? And GPS- from the last century...

    • @terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff
      @terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@heinrichberg2998 well you’re in the perfect position to compare the twoHeinrich 👍. The storage issue can be sorted easily with a small seat bag plus you can stick a litre of water so I don’t really see that as a problem. The very simple small dash of the previous model was brilliant in its simplicity and it was easy to display what was important to you so yes, maybe a little step back there on the new display. Although slightly too tall for me in the end I still like this bike and do think it is a great improvement. Thanks for sharing your experiences 👍.

    I traded in my 2020 1200 Alpine for one of the new 2023 2200 Rally Pros, and I'm not looking back. This new gen is brilliant :) I agree with you that the vibration is not an issue.

  • @kilobravo6272

    Interesting stuff. I think the waist of the Gen 4 is narrower which helps with getting the feet on the floor despite feeling taller. I have to agree about the headlight though, it looks naff!! Great review. All in all the Gen 4 sounds great, but I think I'll go with the Gen 3 still.

    • @terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff
      @terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thankyou. The Gen 3 hasn't suddenly become a poor bike and mine served me well pushing through some horrendous weather with zero difficulty. The suspension is no better on the Gen 4 and the new engine configuration is an acquired taste which some won't like. The Gen 3 has a turbine quality power delivery which makes for a great tourer. Enjoy!

  • @MarkATaylor
    @MarkATaylor ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The tight U turn you did - I did that on my old gen3 Tiger 2 up and it tipped me /us off 😬- top heavy lost balance. Loved the bike for touring but a handful at low manoeuvring speeds (made better by your custom mode tip to lower the suspension). I swapped for a GS which is great but must have a ride on this. I’m a bloody rain magnet me! 🤨. It was a brilliant bike, congratulations on your new GT Pro, I think it is the best of the bunch. I recently took delivery of a 2023 BMW R1250GS (my first) and it’s suspension is atrocious compared to the Tiger, just hopeless. I wish Triumph did a low chassis version like they did on the outgoing model and I would of bought it in a shot. Cheers Andrew!

  • @jameswick4867
    @jameswick4867 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Personally, Triumph should have kept the usual 123 firing order for the GT, as it's more of a street oriented machine. The bike is brilliant otherwise, agile and comfortable.

    • @terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff
      @terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a sentiment echoed by a lot of Triumph fans James. I think the market might have appreciated that for the GT line and kept the new design for the Rally line. It would on, the face of it, seem an easy thing to have done winning approval from both camps. 👍

      @terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I love the look of the Rally line but they have just got way out of my leg length too. No option for spokes on the GT line for those that like that style (I have the XCa) but I can see why they have done that. I probably only needed a little less height on the GT Pro but you just know when |a bike doesn't quite fit you.If I'm going to ride this thing for the next five years it has to be dead right. Thanks for watching Bob 👍.

    16:46. How was the screen in the wet? Were you getting water runoff into the face?

    • @terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff
      @terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With the screen in the lower position you can get wind flow on the visor which actually helps blow the water away. My little top screen deflector would work perfectly on the top of this screen at higher speeds to push it right over.

    Hi there. Sounds like a great bike. I am going to get back on a bike. What do you think of a 2019 Tiger 1200 XRT with 47,000 km? Very tempting, but are there any problems with the high k’s? Cheers.

    • @terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff
      @terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff  ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn’t be worried about the high k’s but make sure they have proof of its valve clearance service and camshaft adjustment at 32,000km. It is a very expensive service and 11 out of 12 shims needed doing on mine at that service. There are also a couple of known gearbox issues that some are experiencing. Only buy if you can test ride thoroughly. Accelerate hard going up and down the gearbox and watch for it missing gears around 2nd and 3rd. Also watch out for a noisy 6th gear. Essentially give the gearbox a good thrashing to try and expose any underlying weaknesses.

    Hi There, how does shift assist / quick shift work? Do you need to pull clutch in when going back down gears?

    • @terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff
      @terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, clutch-less up and down all the way. You can use it from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 1st smoothly too once you get the hang of it. It is very easy to get the hang of it though. It will give a little auto-blip on the way down too. Have some throttle on going up the gears and zero throttle going down the gears. The Triumph quick-shifter has a well deserved reputation.

    • @terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff
      @terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you’re going to do decent mileage the BMW will be cheaper with the five year service packs available from new. If both are 2nd hand and you keep the bikes for a while and get them dealer serviced I would say they will come out about even. The GS requires more valve services but they are easier to do. You really have to watch out for the 20k miles service interval on the Tiger 1200, it is very expensive.

      @terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff indeed it is. I looked into it on a used 2017 tiger and I was shocked. If it was a v twin it probable you'd be more expensive. It's a tough choice. My heart says tiger but my common sense says GS 😃. Thanks for you'd input

I have done 11,000 miles and went to the south of France twice on it, but also kept it nice and clean and in my garage and it is in very good nick. I just did a 2 hour test ride of the New 2022 Tiger 1200 GT Pro and like you I really liked it. The very friendly Triumph dealer, who had sorted me out with my present bike before, put an optional heated low seat on for me and I sat on it and I really liked it, and with both feet firmly planted on the balls of my feet, and the lower centre of gravity and weight loss, it felt really good. I have put a deposit on a Sapphire Black one with full black alu luggage, low heated seat, and engine bars. The PCP finance is running out on my bike so I was able to arrange a good trade-in and finance deal and hope to do the swap in a few weeks. So I did buy one! Hope you get on with the Beamer!
