Nice review! Also an ex GS OWNER, have just bought a GT explorer. The handling through the corners is what sold it to me. It really is a riders bike, as you said.
I've had one since September and I love it. You nailed all the key points. You mentioned road noise on your GS. The stock Karoo tires get noisy at about 60-65 but they're a good balance between road and off-road grip. I'm gonna run mine out and then think about another option when the time comes. Nice review!
Really enjoyed your video. I totally agree with you when you mentioned running out of roads on a sport bike. I left my Rocket III behind last year for a used Tiger 800XC. I never looked back. I doubled my riding opportunities here in the Pacific Northwest US and never worry about getting my precious bike dirty like I did with the Rocket lol.
Excellent review Si,the tiger will definitely be on my shortlist when it’s time to change the big German tractor, the triple engine sounds so good compared to the boxer👌
Great review. Had mine for 9 months and love it. Did 550 miles in a day…fresh as a daisy at the end of it. Changing the geometry to compensate for the 21 inch wheel works. Watch out for the tyres if you get one. They go “off” very quickly and slide all over the place. Replacing them with Conti Trailattak 3’s as never go off-road.
Another great review . AND a good description of the torque reaction at the rearwheel due to the T plane crank .[ which nearly all the motojournos don't understand ]. Hurrah ! Another string to your bow ! Yes , that IS the point of adv bikes for some of us . Belted Galloways ! Bonus ! I've fed, looked after , rounded up and cursed cows all my working life , so I enjoy a good steak from a traditional British breed .🐮 Triumph= tradition too . [long may it be so .] I can't wait for your opinion of the Harley Davidson Pan America . 🤔
Having recently purchased the 1200 GT PRO and loving it. I’m now thinking of taking this out on a test ride, just to satisfy my curiosity. Enjoyed your review as I’ve tried the GS and the Triumph has my vote every time.
I have the Tiger 900 GT Pro and love it. The only thing that worries me about the 1200's is picking the dam thing up if it goes down. I only dropped my 900 once on a field but I slipped a disc in my back picking it up. Also, Triumph servicing costs are ungodly and I do a ton of miles on my bike. Still I'm very tempted by a 1200 when the time comes to change my bike.
Great review! Reminds me of my dad from Glasgow listening to you! He’s not with us anymore! Looking forward to more reviews. Greetings from Vancouver Canada.
Great review well presented video was surprised when I saw you only have less than 500 subscriber's keep making content like this you'll have plenty people watching
Great review of a luxury big tourer, old neighbour had one & I was always waiting on the invite to take it out- didnae happen 😢 Smashing looking bike with all mod cons
Great bike love it I would say that I bought the same bike out the same Glasgow shop went from a African twin to the tiger handles much better on the road and they have same wheels and tyres the bike has everything 😊
I haven’t really considered the Tiger 1200 because I thought it would be quite top heavy. I was actually in Triumph Glasgow the other day to have a sit on the 900 rally as I quite fancy that one. Will be looking to change my VFR800 next year so will be doing a few test rides over the summer to pick my next bike. So far the list of possibilities is the Tiger 900 rally pro, the Honda NT1100 and the BMW R1250GSA, might have to add the Tiger 1200 rally pro to that list as well now. Although I’m struggling to justify if the GSA and the Tiger 1200 is that much better than the 900 rally pro to justify the extra cost. Any way good vid 👍
Great review and totally concur with your view, why dont triumph do their own thing, all this TH-cam comparison stuff reminds me of the VW advert many moons ago, " if you want a Golf buy a Golf" want a GS buy one. Want something different buy a Multistrada or a Tiger..horses for courses !. Just remember if BMW hadn't set the bar so high all these other manufactures wouldn't be as good. I do think Triumph missed a trick by not keeping the straight triple, why would you jump from a twin to triple that thinks its a twin !.
Thanks RMG the T-Plane crank with the off set firing order behaves far better than a conventional triple in off road settings but your right the standard triple is awesome and still used widely in the Triumph range
The new Tiger 1200 is severely held back in the ride by wire tables. Sport mode, is similar to Rain mode would be on other bikes... Really holding back power and response...
@@simotofoto It is. I did a 100+ mile test ride on a 2023 Tiger 1200 GT Pro last weekend, and it felt off. I came home and pulled up the base map for that bike in TuneECU, and sure enough, they pulled back the throttle response a LOT in the ride by wire tables. It's heavily restricted in Sport mode.
@@simotofoto Yeah, but I can pull the base map for a UK or Euro bike and its the same thing. I made a video of it on my channel the other day.... lays it all out...
Thanks Klutchkickr thats kind of you to say :) I am using a GoPro Hero 5 black with the audio box accessory and a Purple Panda mic inside my lid hope that helps. Si
No one has ever shown that you can change the ride mode on the fly like the BMW, which was one of my concerns. Thank you for showing that! How was handling at very low speed?
Thanks Daddy it is a forestry track just past the Greenock cuts and comes out not far from Bridge of Weir, sure it is legal have ridden it a few times including a group of 40 of us :)
If you would drive 9 out of 10 times drive on normal road..woud you go for rally pro still of gt pro ? And how you compare sport mode on rally and sport mode on gt pro ? Thnx
Great review Si, well done. Really interesting bike for for me having owned the old gen 3 and now a GS rider. How did you find the weight? Was it top heavy as that was the negative on the old one. Sounds awesome and the Rally Explorer in that colour scheme looks great.
Cheers Austin, it's defo the right thing to do to test it yourself and see how it feels, some love the T-Plane triple and others prefer the Boxer, im on the fence love both engines but much prefer the Tigers suspension set up.
That Tiger has a proper growl, love that!
Me too it sounds epic
Nice review! Also an ex GS OWNER, have just bought a GT explorer. The handling through the corners is what sold it to me. It really is a riders bike, as you said.

Great review. Not as dull as the usual and very informative, thanks 👍🏻
Thanks man that’s hugely appreciated 🙏🏻

Thanks a bunch dude, the belted Galloways lol big fozzy bears lol. Pan America coming soon :)
Good review Si...good wee route too...worked in that area for a good few years. Keep up the good work. 😊😉
Thanks Allan really appreciate the feedback, it's a route I do quite regularly and this time was treated with the Belted Galloways :). Cheers Si

they are heavy, I think the 1200 is around 60kg heavier than the 900 :(

Well done Si, you knocked that one out the park. A very balanced review on the new Tiger from a GS rider. Sounds like your completely smitten.
Thanks so much for the kind comment Stuart, you could say I liked it lol
Great review of a luxury big tourer, old neighbour had one & I was always waiting on the invite to take it out- didnae happen 😢

Loving the Chanel Si, great job……I don’t think it will be long before the GSA has to make way for the Triumph in your garage!
Thanks Martin lol I think you might be right haha

All great bikes Barry just get in touch if you would like to organise riding any of the Triumphs :)

It is really top heavy. I had one for 3 months and couldn’t live with it so changed to a GS. Never looked back

Nice video along with your GSA one. Good look with the channel
Thanks Andy thats really kind of you glad you enjoyed them dude :)
Great review Simon looking forward to getting mine 👍
Awesome Lawrence glad you enjoyed, I can't wait till you get it either :) what a bike

Cheers Dave, I didn't find that at all to be honest thought it was epic in Sport mode but saying that I'm used to the GS lol

Thanks Klutchkickr thats kind of you to say :) I am using a GoPro Hero 5 black with the audio box accessory and a Purple Panda mic inside my lid hope that helps. Si
Cool! I want to start doing vids this year just because as you never know where the TH-cam venture turns out!
No one has ever shown that you can change the ride mode on the fly like the BMW, which was one of my concerns. Thank you for showing that! How was handling at very low speed?
Thanks Joe, it was really nice at low speed feels well balanced and the stall assist works really well too
Enjoyed the review a lot. Where is that cheeky bit of off-road? Is it legal for bikes? So short of trails up here!
Thanks Daddy it is a forestry track just past the Greenock cuts and comes out not far from Bridge of Weir, sure it is legal have ridden it a few times including a group of 40 of us :)
Great video Si 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
I love my 900on and off road. I tried the 1200 but the difference is minimal and not enough to make me change.
Love the 900 David, its a great all round bike I will be reviewing this bike very soon keep your eye on the channel :)
I've always loved the idea of a triumph Tiger sport....but I'm too short 🤣
Fair enough! lol just get a huuuuuge set of platforms.....sorted
Great review will be looking forward to your review of the 125 monkey bike
Hahaha thanks Hans hope you subscribed :)
If you would drive 9 out of 10 times drive on normal road..woud you go for rally pro still of gt pro ?
And how you compare sport mode on rally and sport mode on gt pro ?
Thnx
Think I would opt for the Rally, there isn't a huge difference in handling on road and I prefer the look and colours on the Rally :)
Love it 😀
Thanks Jac its still converting the vide to HD so the quality when you watched it was a wee bit poor :(
It looked smashing to me xx
Great review Si, well done. Really interesting bike for for me having owned the old gen 3 and now a GS rider. How did you find the weight? Was it top heavy as that was the negative on the old one. Sounds awesome and the Rally Explorer in that colour scheme looks great.
Thanks Mark I didn't find it heavy at all or more to the point I wasn't really aware of the weight so I don't think its an issue
Is this the 2023? Because my 2018 Triumph 1200 Low is NOT an off roader at all. Great tourer, great around towner but, it's no off roader.
Thanks for your comment, yes this is the 2023 Rally Explorer model :)
I tested the gt pro saturday and i have same gsa as yours and i hated the tiger
Cheers Austin, it's defo the right thing to do to test it yourself and see how it feels, some love the T-Plane triple and others prefer the Boxer, im on the fence love both engines but much prefer the Tigers suspension set up.
Great review, sub incoming
Awesome thanks Charlie more vids to come :)
