I assume the whole "starting at GoD' thing is largely so that players have access to Beastlords and Berserkers on day 1, and then the whole reduced level is to provide a bigger challenge to players who want to be more challenged. I dunno, it seems like it could be fun, but I would only jump in if I had more free time to play
I agree with you on both parts. A job wife and kids makes it really hard for me to sit down for more than 1 or 2 hours. That's if I'm even granted the permission from boss lady to play lol
Gates of Discord means Zerker and BST level 1 from the start. People have been begging for this but they have said to do that on a normal progression server would require a massive workload to change and add things. This was a way to achieve that without having to write much code. Smart move.
No one I know that plays EQ would have any interest in a server like Mischief. I believe that the small population that exists on these TLPs throughout their entire life cycle love the changes, but those of us looking for pre LoY content only come back when it is a standard ruleset. To each their own, but personally I'm excited for Yelinak, although a full lock server would be great. Personally a Kunark, or Luclin locked server would be my jam.
@@deathknizzle As I said, to each their own, I would never play on a server with random loot. The way loot is in vanilla EverQuest is a fundamental part of the game design. I would rather play FF14, or GW2 if I wanted a new experience. I (and many others) play TLP servers to experience the game we love, the way we love it. Farming things like BAM, and FBSS were some of my fondest memories in EQ. P99 is there too, and is awesome, however the community isn't as good in my experience. I hope you have a blast dude, I'm glad you enjoy the game a different way, it's all good for the health of the game.
I think the gist of it all is for people to try and raid content 10 levels lower then they would normally raid. Level 40 in PoF/PoH ( level to enter must be reduced to 40 ) ect ect per expansion, progressing from there. I'm interested to see how high of a raid target the zerg guilds can take out at level 40.
You stated my thoughts exactly. I was pretty disappointed when I read the new server breakdowns. Why would anyone do the GoD lvl 40 cap server when you can do that literally on every server, even Mischief. I don't get it at all. The second mangler clone is boring, I've done it multiple times before. Guess I'll just stick to Mischief...
I like the idea of having a new server that is completely unique. And I like the idea of trying content at different levels. To me this changes the format of the game quiet a bit and adds something new to what's now become stale and repetitive TLP's. I hope people stay a bit more open minded and give it a chance. There will be more stale TLP's in the future, we all know it.
The TLP rules are the craziest I've ever seen. I have no interest in playing an "non" EQ version of EQ. Meets the weight test in documentation though...Someone forgot that simpler is better.
On Mischief and Mangler, I did 1-50 in less then a week, and on Mischief my "prelaunch" crew was very elite, I played a chanter, and we did 50 in 3 days. I can't say I'm worried about levelling. Plenty of time to gear hunt at 40! Twilight sea quests to replace gloomingdeep armor, LDON raids at 40! Should be fun.
The more i think about this, the more i like Vaniki. Day 1 iksar. Day 1 beastlords and berserkers. Day 1 froglok. Day 1 LDoN adventure farming at lvl 15. It’s perfect.
There are constantly posts wanting a TLP with BST and BER unlocked at start (not me, I knew it was a bogus idea). This allows that happen since those regions are available. Also saw there were some cool LDON ideas going into this. It kind of appeals to those not wanting a classic server and another group wanting other class and race combos. Good news is more will play Yelinak and the all class race andies will finally be silenced.

I played on Good vs Neutral vs Evil back in the early 2000s and some of the battles were crazy. There was a zone battle with dragon trains that lasted 24 hours once and corpse recoveries went on for days. One of the more fun experiences I had back in the original EQ days
This confuses me. What's the point of these servers? I'd be super curious to hear their thoughts on how they decided on these rulesets. They could have done sooo much better and I'm with Kezzan on this one, lock another server in the level 75 era, good solid idea there imo.
I think the idea is to encourage people to try to push what they can do in raids. In classic TLP the power raiders probably get bored quickly and engagement falls off faster. This might keep those players engaged for longer if they push into those later expansion raids at 40. Imagine doing VT at 40 with no AA. We will see if it works though. I know I play TLP for nostalgia so the mangler style server interests me more.
I was so excited for the new TLP but after hearing this I'm pretty bummed. My new work hours kill my gaming time - was hoping to see something for the soloist & have mercs @ lvl 1 since I can't box or group
It's so weird. Prophecy will come out and discord will not even be touched yet lol. They def screwed up this tlp already lol. Hopefully they switch it up.
It's a new challenge. Challenging content that is much higher level than you are. The rewards are far more powerful than you'd ever normally have at say, lvl 40. The logic to me seems pretty clear. A fast pace TLP with a new challenge. If someone is sitting around bored at lvl 40 on a fresh server that launches with content through GoD... Maybe they don't get it. But I do think this will be one of the more polarizing TLP in a while. At least all TLP fans still have the normal ruleset backup.
Isn't the level req for Hate/fear/growth lvl 45 or 46? I was thinking the same as you when i was reading over this. Its a lazy ruleset that couldn't have been fully thought out. I don't see mischief losing many players. Maybe the ones who are upset with a majority of the loot being sold for 15+ KR maybe. Thats about it. I'm personally looking forward to the EQ2 free trade server coming out. I was always a fan of the older content in EQ2 up to around the Velious Xpacks.
seems like they are running out of ideas, throwing in tougher mechanics isn't really new, wasn't the sleeper supposed to be an impossibility... There's an emulator out there that was letting you choose any race and class, but even better you could chose any skill or spell from any other class apparently, they should make an official server like that, it's not like they've cared about balancing in a long time.
Cool video man. This is the first video of yours I've ever seen pop up on my feed, I'll have to check out your guides!

the power creep is going to be ramped up. Level 40 is going to be hitting as hard as maybe a level 50
Gonna be more than raid targets too =) ull see full raids for group content several expansions in the future.
looks like a server for faceless... now they can try to kill the same stuff but 20 lvl lower lol
if you don't know why they are starting Vaniki at level 40 I question how much you have actually played Everquest

Wonder if they just give you the level and make you get gear?

It's just a different filter set. Instead of progressing by expansion, its progression by level.

On Everquest
They should make a "level agnostic" TLP server, and treat levels the same as elder scrolls online does

that vaniki server is dead from the start no one plays on tlps to not raid that keeps them alive
that's the point of the server to take out raid targets for those achievements, and you do it under leveled
