@@JamoZNL Buckethead doesn't have the precision Steve does.....I've seen videos of him and while great is not even close to studio quality. Vai on the other hand does play studio quality on a live show.

@@JamoZNL While Buckethead is great, he doesn't compare to Steve Vai at all. There's a *wide gap* in skill, creativity, musicality and stage performance.
If you're a guitarist, you should know it's relatively easy to cover buckethead vs. Steve.

I wholeheartedly disagree. Your points sound like someone who has listened to 3 Buckethead tracks and decided to draw a conclusion based on those.
I`d say he`s more skilled than Vai on a technical and musical level as he produces music in nearly every genre there is to be played on the guitar and he excels in all. Wheter it be Jazz, Blues, bone crushing Metal, or avant garde fusion rock he can play it.
Vai is an absolute virtuoso but he has his style and his style only. I`ve never ever heard him play Jazz or Fusion rock. Bet he can, but it seems he wouldn`t be in his comfort zone. Buckethead is comfortable playing anything imo.
Also, stage performance? One guy has a fan blowing in his hair and the other one is performing robot dances while waving the nunchucks around during a solo with a bucket on his head...
And i had less trouble trying to play FTLOG than i had with Soothsayer. But i`m not Buckethead or Vai so...

      @@JamoZNL First - don't assume.
Second, don't get me wrong, buckethead is good. Steve is just way above.
I know music is subjective but Soothsayer is just too boring and bland for my tastes ngl. But again, subjective.

Steve Vai is one of the few men in the world who is considered a GOD of the guitar and it is not for less, the way of playing is inhuman, it is beyond comprehension.

Most of us consider this song, very sexual, the “tender surrender”. It’s a build up like foreplay, then really getting after it, and then the bust and then relaxed pillow talk. He’s legendary, just like EVH, SRV, and EVH. I love your reaction, and you have a new subscriber.

Hey Young Gun, Steve Vai is an ax master of the highest order! I am a EVH devotee as well, and Eddie paved the way in many ways for cats like Steve. Steve was a student of Joe Satriani, another ax legend, and you can hear sooo much of Joe's playing in technique and song crafting in Steve's playing. My fav. from Steve is th-cam.com/video/9IrWyZ0KZuk/w-d-xo.html. He also plays this crazy Hydra guitar with multiple heads on another killer solo, but I still like "For the Love of God" best. Love your energy and enthusiasm! 🔥🔥

Seriously, stop pushing that inferior orchestra version, it`s horrible compared to the 1996 G3 version. It`s sloppy and slightly out of tune at moments. the G3 version is perfect in every way...

He is no EVH, he would crush EVH. Eddie was one of the greats but could never have had a good instrumental album. He was just a really great rock guitarist, I wouldn't consider Eddie to be a match to Steve Vai on a skill level, not at all. Steve Vai can make his guitar talk, and you can understand it.
