I'm deeply sorry to hear about your sons passing. Just know that he is in Gods loving arms right now. Probably playing guitar for my Mom. My Mom passed Jan 2010 from brain cancer. Life is so short and I love that you guys are living out something that you are truly passionate about. Music is amazing on so many levels. I agree with Kel , people used to say to me how can you listen to metal, nothing but banging, screaming and loud crap guitar. My response is how can you not listen to metal. Precision instrumentation, amazing vocals, harmonies, unreal timing. Truly talented musicians. Hold your son close to your heart and soul and keeping on exploring the world of metal. Big fan of you guys. Take care and God Bless.

Wow....just wow! Thanks for sharing this 'personal' journey Kel (& thanks Rich for encouraging this!) I'm sorry that musically, you were repressed prior to this - it brinks on cruelty! There is such a wonderful world of music, not just classical, not just metal, funk, psychedelic, prog, pop, electronic - with magic in all of it!! I can't truly tell you how many pieces of music can bring me to tears (yup, I'm that kinda guy) - I, like you Kel, feel music, and if it gives me that feeling, then emotions take control. Sometimes it's the piece itself, sometimes it's tied to a personal experience or more importantly to someone (just ask my wife - especially when she's playing piano - but she's been as much of an influence on my tastes as I am to here - she's the alternative chick, I'm the metal/classic rock dude). Music has that ability to touch the soul! Keep up that journey, and enjoy EVERY moment of it!

As a musician Guitar Major for 36 years Steve VAI and Yngwie "J" MALMSTEEN have always been My Two Favorite Guitar Guitar Heros ..
    Noteworthy ..
Yngwie is a Fluent Drummer(That was in the beginning) He also can play anything (Bass,Keyboard..ect) Composes and writes all lyrics ..
    VAI pretty much the same..
And YES BOTH are Bad Singers ...(Well Not BAD but Definately NOT their FORTE'....LOL)

You should really react to Metal Church's "In Mourning." The lyrics and subject matter will literally break your heart. My favorite song of all time. Truly awe-inspiring.

@@kelligafter502 I'd seriously love you to listen to the Black metal song by Cheerful Depression called Sleep Forever.
I dont listen to it a lot, but it evokes a kind of emotion that I think is beautiful and needed. its not true black metal- its a subgenre- but it's just hauntingly beautiful. #WillEventuallyBeAHugePainInTheAsk #thisIsFun #MusicForUnicorns

Vai is one of those guys you wonder if he actually did sell his soul for guitar talent.

Steve Via is considered to only True Master of the guitar! You can look this up yourselves. He plays things thatno one know how to write down because they have never heard anything like some of the stuff he does. Guitar Magazine and Guitar World both had big articles about his playing and both said the same thing, he is the true master!!!!
