You didn't put a Bowl of "BAKING SODA" Water beside the Acid Bowl.. SAFETY FIRST ~ Put the Deactivator down at same time you put out Acid.. Kitchen tongs work well to remove things from acid & to plunge them into Deactivator Immediately.. Plain water is Not enough!! Add Bkg Soda..
Can't believe there weren't more people commenting on that. And would do even better if she set all those in a bucket with muratic acid or iron out and let them sit for 24 hours.

I specifically was searching to learn & wanted to know about cleaning quartz. With the quartz videos that I did see they were all using rust out, that you mentioned. I do have quite a selection of rocks right now, I’ve only been here two months on top of that, 🎉so I gotta take it easy lol & leave Rock's for others... 😂 I was just wondering though why you don’t want to use the rust out product as opposed to the one that you used here? And is the cleaning solution that you used in this video OK to use an all types of rocks? Thank you so much. I’ll be watching more later today! Because of course, I am now subbed and have my bells on!❤🎉
uhhh I wish I didn't live in CT ..... boring and nothing fascinating to find. I did live in AZ in my late teens but wasn't into this stuff then like I am now... Get yourself a tuffshed. I turned my 10x10 tuffshed into a rockshop. Has my trim saw, cab machine, rock sander, and sphere machine in it with plenty of room and I installed shelves to hold all kinds of rock. Just couldn't get my 18" slab saw in there so it's in my garage.
Not a fan of the acid, one silly, possibly superstitious suggestion , I never use it in direct sunlight. light seems to promote that radioactive looking greenish yellow crud that seems to materialize as the crystals dry. Chickens do an awesome job of cleaning. ;0 I would venture to say that many of my smaller "gems" have passed thru the chicken. Many larger pieces have sat in chickenshi for years, then I eventually find them and am amazed by how well they've cleaned up.
. Just a couple questions. 1) How high do you go with the polishing ? 800? 1200? 2) Do you put a thin layer of high gloss spray laquer to help maintain the shine on the flat edges & to make the inside look wet? 3) have you ever tried placeing them in clear resin to pose them in a spacifick position. 4) If you never used the high gloss lacquer or the resin would you ever try it or would the chance of ruing it be to high? IDK if Ill ever find one. Can you please give me any clues...or something?? Forever grateful for any help! Ive been looking for so long. I sound like a baby...I just want to find 1.
Im a Reno girl, (older girl,) and I can tell you, there aren't geodes around here. I've been looking for years! I wish I knew you, Valerie. I would take you to some rockhound sites I know around here. I'm disabled too, so I've found a few places that aren't too rough to get around in.

Hello I love uv and phosphorescent minerals. Me and my hubby dig and clean up what is known as red river selenites up here in Canada. We use a 365nm uvlight with a filter. It takes out the purple that you see.
Very informative and educational video. Your channel is one of my favorites, love your style and personality. I have collected geodes for years but only have a small box full. I have bought a few online and the most beautiful and colorful ones were some that came from Mexico, or so I was told. I’ve only broken them open, wish I had a saw to cut some open. Maybe I will invest in a small one! Thank you Elly Knows Rocks!

You are amazing and I love that you share so much of your knowledge. You combined what I love, Rocks and Geology! I was so fascinated with rocks that I took a Geology Class in College: Rocks, Volcanoes and Earthquakes. I was 54 when I took the class and really enjoyed it! I urge people to check their local colleges and community colleges to take courses they may be interested in.

Certain uranium compounds will do that.

Metal is ez... you can always add more metal. Its Hard to add more wood.
That glow is from calcite. Opal will make a glow like that that lasts a bit longer.
