I could watch you for 2 hours no problem, I find your videos very interesting & I don't know many people who like rocks & crystals like I do, so thanks for these videos.
It is possible to put lapidary discs on tile saws by using some spacers and by using a variac or some other way to lower the speed of the saw so it does not cut too quickly.
Raise your hand if you also have buckets full of geodes still needing to be opened because you cannot leave any geode behind! 🤚🏼 Also, WAIT-WHAT? A TIGER bit off part of your finger?? I need details, please. ALSO also, if you ever want to trade some AZ (or other deserty areas) geodes for TN and KY geodes, let me know!! Yee HAWW, Y’all! 😂❤
Loved the entire video and would have happily watched three hours of this. Between your excitement over every reveal and the educational portions, I'm here for it!
If it's plastic tubing that you need to seal and it doesn't come in contact with another part that would prevent the removal of the part in question, you can use the following method to seal part. Using a thin strip of Styrofoam (like a cup, or cut strip of Styrofoam packaging) and melt with superglue, using the strip of Styrofoam, rub the melted portion on plastic needing sealed. I have found this to be a quick, easy and most reliable method for mending smaller plastic repairs.
OK, this is NOT an advertisement for Harbor Freight, take it or leave it and the item probably can be found elsewhere but they have an "inspection light" that is a very small camera on a flexible gooseneck that you could stick into those tiny holes in geodes to see what its like and where you want it to be cut at. It is self lit with leds by the camera.
Dugway geodes are amazing! Try polishing the outside of one- you’re in for a treat! I can share a pic with you of one of my Dugway geodes- one half outside is raw- the other half outside polished. It’s stunning! Not sure how to send a pic though
Man oh man Elley, Love the chunk that fell out at minute 16 of this video. I viewed this video after the the cleaning video, and now see where my favorite piece of that video came from. Rainy day nerding out. You are awesome! Please keep it up! Nerd is the new cool!
FYI: they are ALL thundereggs, some just have geodic cavities. The geologic process/formation is the very same either way if they are solid or hollow.....30+ year thunderegg collector. :)
Man I tell you what....the beauty that can only be caught by the eye! Cameras don't have noth'n on our eyes! Great job! Thx for the info. Boy you aught to see the desert crystals I've found and the shimmering rocks. I even found the gas bubbles in many places...the green ones. I find the most beautiful things....did the coast of Lake Michigan in October....mined some Arkansas Crystals and found beautiful matrix ones! So much fun to find what Mama Nature creates!
I'm a gal who does stonework....patios, walkways, and walls....stairs. one of my favorite walkways was rolling in 125lb Mollalah Stones (beautiful) and backpacking in smaller stones for their color or shape. Another fave is a sandstone with plenty of limestone in it for strength...the color was peachy reds, oranges and yellows....then I placed river rock hand picked for color within the cracks and used a policy sand to hold them in place. You can make so much beauty from these stones! That wall you have in the back yard would look amazing if you took sliced geods and attached them. One day, I'll make a stone house!
Elly you're silly girl 😂 Glad you're having fun I got to get out and do some rock collection I haven't done it in a while I miss it. I've always had a sense for finding things. I went on a geology field trip out of Adirondack community college in 1977 mostly collecting fossils I found almost all the good specimens😮 eurypterid Or a sea scorpion 500 million years old it was the best specimen my geology teacher had seen and he asked me to donate it to the college.
@@ElleyKnowsRocks Yes I ended up keeping it and now I regret it I should have donated it to the college. I was going to donate it and one of my classmates said no don't I listened to him 😫 I ended up leaving it back east I don't even have it. Probably got thrown away what a waste.. now live in San Diego
Fun times. After decades of heavy metal, guitar playing and front row AC/DC concerts..........I'll skip the hearing protection lol. I actually just had my hearing tested and only have a very slight loss in one ear. As I sit here in the upper portion of my rock cave with a 15" KLH in each corner, that have knocked rocks off the shelf more than once ,i'm not sure how that's possible but i'm not complaining lol. I'm still trying to kill my liver also with no luck.
If you want to see amazing thunder eggs and a cat geode go to Deming NM. On the way to rockhound park, where you can rock hunt in areas on the trail, you will find a small rock shop. The owner Christopher is a veteran with tons of knowledge.
Oh what an amazing time for this video. I just received a few small agate geodes. Ohhh I’m so excited to start opening as soon as watch the video again. Do you sell unopened geodes on your Etsy page? Also excited to learn where you find them? I’m here in southern Arizona hoping you’re gonna say you find em here in Arizona somewhere 🤞🏽🤞🏽thanks for your knowledge! It really does help a lot!
Fun video! I would be nervous opening them too. I would be afraid of breaking something on the inside by accident. But, I guess sometimes - something needs to be broken open in order to see the beauty. It's a hard shell/crust with an amazing inside. :)
Hello Ellie, hope all is well. I went to Lake Pleasant the coordinates that you posted. Was it working if you could help I would appreciate it. Thank you Vernon in Wickenburg.
I made a lot of $ traveling the country and buying lapidary equipment. That was several years ago when collections were more easily found and every picker out there didn't know the stuff was worth $$$. Now im trying to amass my own stuff that will be for personal use. I recently scored a 20" saw, a like new flat lap, a like new arbor and 200lbs of rocks for $250. Had to drive 5 hours one for it. Keep in mind im a professional lol. People are like how do you always find these deals? I have one answer: I look. A lot.
I live in Clinton UT. I really want to go find geodes. Can't wait. Have any advice on what part to dig in to have better chance of getting some geides?
Great cuts and information. Keep the excellent videos coming. Be safe and have a good time!
Thank you
Honestly, I was sad when the video ended! I love watching geodes, agates, rocks, etc. being cut open.
Elley I love this! It’s awesome when you cut open and/or tumble all your fabulous finds!💃
Thanks so much! 😊

Switch up Norton saw blades and stay away from el cheapo blades. Thanks for sharing Elley you rock.

the spots in that agate are called dendrites
A bit further up that wash there are petroglyphs to be found. And the occasional burro or two.
Love this!

If you are using a small camera like a GoPro or smaller you can find camera mount head straps with mounts on them to wear the camera like a head lamp.
I use my phone :)

When you look at any Geode, how do you determine where you are going to cut it?
Hello Ellie, hope all is well. I went to Lake Pleasant the coordinates that you posted. Was it working if you could help I would appreciate it. Thank you Vernon in Wickenburg.
Love your content. What is the significance of the ring saw? Never seen one. Pros/cons?
Are you using water or mineral oil as the cutting lubricant?
I don't jump to the end I take my time
Rock hounding a very rewarding habit just not profitable 😂😂 rich in rock priceless

So, what’s your take on kyber crystals?
The one you said that you can count that rings of the agate like tree rings
Enjoy watching your videos also when is the gem show proud of your work and adventures
Went to Lake Pleasant cords, :( with my girls. Didn't find anything. Help. :)
Love your video
I would have bet the house on the background music being some Dead show I was at back in the day.
Maybe it's just me... but... many of those host rocks ( looked like ROAST BEEF 🐄 )!! 🤣
I live in Clinton UT. I really want to go find geodes. Can't wait. Have any advice on what part to dig in to have better chance of getting some geides?
just pick a place and start digging.the whole area was a lake bed, so they are every where. but commit to an area, stay there and dig deep!
That one looks like a turtle shell
I would watch for two hours lol. Better than a made up movie! Love Ya!
Ive gone geode hunting before, but all I found were tiny ones
What? Tiger! 🐅 😬 🥩
Yes :)
can you please give me coordinates to find Geodes in So Cal?
34.476752° -118.215280° this is in Acton CA I have not been to So cal for geodes. this is the only place in cali i have collected agates.
if you are not close-ish to this area I would not make a trip just to go there. the ones here are very very small. but very cool looking.

I love my Rigid 10 inch saw and i always wear safety glasses and headphones..
Let me have the thunder egg send it to me
No glasses out side!,
Ah, now you are wearing them yay
