The News Chopper 5 pilot always bums me out. He wasn’t flying a rescue chopper, he was just a news chopper pilot, yet he took it upon himself to fly up and down Philadelphia looking for survivors when it seemed like there wasn’t any at all. And he paid the price for it. If that isn’t heroism I don’t know what is.
It’s my belief that the Green Flu wasn’t something natural, but synthetic, something man-made, something intentional. Perhaps a bioweapon made with the intention of deployment with military units. If that ends up being true, it makes the news chopper pilot’s death even more tragic, because that would mean a man-made creation claimed the life of a man just trying to be helpful out of the kindness of his heart.
Fan fact: The non-radio lines for the News Chopper 5 pilot are actually from a cut ending to the _No Mercy_ campaign where the pilot actually turns out to be infected and slowly becomes a zombie (This was later referenced in the beginning of the _Crash Course_ campaign).
Al Fredo actually in the documentary in the extras of the first game, they say that they changed the ending because they didn’t want the players to feel like they got screwed in the end. I wouldn’t think that, but I can see why they changed it. You survived the campaign just to lose to a twist? Yeah that would take away the satisfaction

i love how church guy and the chopper pilot perfectly show how the infection takes over depending on how calm the person is church guy is in panic and with stress so when he turns, he turns rather quickly with his sounds more rabid and you can hear trashing from the inside meanwhile the chopper pilot is just worried so instead he turns slowly and he sounds more like he's throwing up/choking as he turns into a zombie
You may be right but there is also another detail, the 4 protagonists are carriers, they unwittingly infect healthy people who are close to them. And these people were transformed soon after having contact with the 4.

Imagine how much pain and struggle of being Infected really is. Feeling cold, always hurting, puking their own blood, always thirsty and always hungry, worse if you're a Special. -If you were a Smoker, you would feel your breath is so tight, you can't even breath right. -Witch? Depression. -Tank? Enduring pain. -Jockey? You're always hunched and your back probably hurts EVERY SECOND. -Boomer? You always need to puke and you feel like you are about to explode, literally. But you really can't until you find someone to puke on. -Spitter always feel their insides getting BURNED. The acids in them... -Hunters, well in L4D2, you'd have to endure the pain of ripping off the tape on your arm due to evolution.
Kind of cool how in the voice lines it's not immediately noticeable that the charger is speaking but only if you listen which is pretty hard to do when you are being pulped.
The dialog of news chopper 5 implies that that guy has been going around the city and maybe other locations picking up whatever survivors he could to bring survivors to the safe zone. Like. It seems he has made multiple runs successfully. Even doing a street pickup and survived well enough. He may have died later from that but he didnt die in the main course of doing it. Dude did alot and only lost once he got the l4d1 survivors
he got Infected from the previous batch of Survivors, not the l4d1 Crew which is why it takes quite a bit before he gets to you in the rooftop because in one of his voicelines he say he had an "Accident".

I guess Virgil is a carrier too because he sounds fine after like 2 days with them

i think its this, the pilot from dead air told the survivors to parachute and head towards the military LZ. because he got bit and they landed in the alegheny national forest and they stayed for one night and they heard the military's got a safe zone because the pilot told them and that is how they got to blood harvest
As far as i know the boat guys were trying to lure survivors into the boat, steal their supplies, and then leaving them to the wilderness, thats why they always ask “someone with guns and ammo”
An answer to this is that in a not really well documented cut campaign called The River would've taken place post Death Toll-Pre Dead Air, where the survivors have been kicked off the Saint Lidia 2 after a disagreement with The Slaters

i think its questionable. while valve never made it clear whether our characters really infect others or not, you can hear pilot got into some incident on the way 1:26. so probably he got bit before and our 4 had nothing to do with it. another thing is that virgil and other two persons who contacted with survivors didnt mutated as well though they could been just also immune of course
The military pilot was not even alone, I think he forced I assume his co-pilot to pump some gas, I guess that didnt do well. Edit; I'am correct, it's his co-pilot named terry. The pilot was cowardly stayed in the plane and let terry do the pumping.
I find it funny that the church guy sounds like the spitter, charger, and jockey (which were not in the first game) in some of his voice lines as he turns, but I can never hear the smoker, boomer or hunter.
He mentions that his wife was with him and got bit, which means if he survived his infected wife being near him, and 4 more infected people on his boat for atleast a day, then he is immune.

I'm wondering how the news chopper 5 pilot delivered the supplies at the top of Mercy Hospital even though the infected were already up there.
My theory is that the rooftop was once clear until the zeds prolly breach the rooftop doors and forcing news chopper 5 pilot to scram in the area.

what makes it even sadder is that the news chopper pilot died because of them, they were carriers which were immune hence passing the virus to him without knowing
i think its questionable. while valve never made it clear whether our characters really infect others or not, you can hear pilot got into some incident on the way 1:26. so probably he got bit before and our 4 had nothing to do with it. another thing is that virgil and other two persons who contacted with survivors didnt mutated as well though they could been just also immune of course

The military pilot was not even alone, I think he forced I assume his co-pilot to pump some gas, I guess that didnt do well.
Edit; I'am correct, it's his co-pilot named terry. The pilot was cowardly stayed in the plane and let terry do the pumping.
I find it funny that the church guy sounds like the spitter, charger, and jockey (which were not in the first game) in some of his voice lines as he turns, but I can never hear the smoker, boomer or hunter.
