I actually love the fact that it doesnt charge your phone in both sides, that means if your phone doesnt need a charge you dont ruin your phones battery, but still have a place for your phone
Very well video. In Denmark it is 35-40 t kr. less expensive than the ww id 4. That's a very good offer. Further range and better handling. What not to like.
I plan to go electric in 3 years and this car is one that would be in my shortlist. However, if Ford releases Capri EV and it looks as awesome as it is suspected, then that would be a much more likely candidate.
Good review Tish. Had a test drive at EV Live and to be fair it drives very well. Did Kia EV6 on same day and Ford impressed me more. Not sure how i would get on with screen and buttons. Too expensive for me for now but will watch the market and also see what the Puma is like when it arrives
Hi Tish. Thanks for another nice review. Those range claims don't make sense to me. Do you know what efficiency you got? I'm very sceptical of the 4.5mpkWh combined reported by WLTP as that is in Model 3 territory. Given other choices such as the new Kona and Nissan Ariya have space for four adults my size(1.89m), heat pumps as standard and bigger boots for less this won't be on my shopping list.
Good review. I want Ford to do well, more EV models the better. Really struggling to get the USP of the explorer. Similar boot space as so many crossover SUV. But price tag puts it in a class that I don't see it fitting.
Spot on about the price Tish, this is far too expensive. Until the small battery comes along, the cheapest Explorer is more expensive than the cheapest Mach-E. The smaller battery version will have far too small a battery for the price, so it’s lose lose. Ford need an EV Fiesta and Focus on their own EV platform, not a badge engineered version of the ID.4
i drove this and the new Mini countryman. Mini for me personally has a slight edge . Fords interior was nicer and better looking but i think Mini overall package was better . the space in the back of the Mini for my kids was also better. Either way Ford was a lovely and very comfortable to drive
The blue car has front seat fixed headrests and the red car has front seat moveable headrests...............which model has the front seat moveable headrests ?
The cheaper version of the Explorer, yet to be launched, will be the big seller. In hindsight, the platform sharing deal with VW was probably not a good idea but Ford didn't have a EV platform for Europe
great video Tish its a very nice car shame about the prices plenty of room inside plenty of info given to us in this video job well done as always on to the next ... 😀😀
Stunning backdrop in this one. Can you do me a favour. When you get to 50k subs pickup the phone to Porsche and book whatever gets the new next gen Apple CarPlay. I know you won’t be the first but I would value your opinion on it. Hopefully it will then arrive in VW/skoda in a couple of years.
I test-drove this last week and really didn't like it. (I currently have a Mach-E which I really like) The Explorer felt REALLY cheap inside, the steering was way too loose for me ( I tried all the modes) and really had to put my foot down on the brakes for them to be reactive. The price point is insane for the quality of the car. A real shame. Trying to figure out what to get next and not exactly spoilt for choice. I'm looking at the Tavascan (thanks for the review) hoping that it feels nicer inside than this one as I love the car's look. Also ruined myself by driving the Lotus Electre which I LOVED... but not at that price 🤣
I’m not totally sure it can be compared to the 3008 due to being quite a lot smaller, but I do agree with you about the Scenic. Very few cars come close to being as well rounded as the Renault.
Yeah but would rather have a Ford than a Renault plus it’s a lot quicker. The difference in quality will be noticeable when it comes to repairs but then you are paying more for the Ford.
Cool! Seems like a winner! Just doesn't nudge under GBP 40K due to pound devaluation over the last few years. Up the economy! Island nation UK imports most. Today: way too much hassle for small firms to trade with the EU, let's get rid of admin stupidity which will benefit all trade AND better priced cars .... Luv this Ford: yes 40K but value (range!) for money. Nobody goes so far for less!! And all trims are good. Doesn't it feel like classic Ford: value!
Squirkle...love how you made your own word for that steering wheel, Tish (sounds like a rejected name for a Pokemon btw). 🥰 Also, any word on when/if it will be available in the States (price)? Nice outfit as well, Tish! ❤
Austin used the name Quartic when they launched the Allegro with a squared off steering wheel in 1973. Who would have guessed they were fifty years ahead of their time ?
Just still seems soo expensive and the range not great. Nope be sticking with combustion engine for a while yet I think . There really isn't any need to rush out and buy electric now anyway
No need to stay ice as plenty other models of EV. The explorer seems mostly undistinctive. Things like tilting screen and massive middle storage hardly seem like game changers.
This is the lowest price point for this range on the market. The EV market battles with the price of batteries - but long term trend is: down down down. Cannot bear EVs above 40/50K in value, see BMWs and MB: their SUVs! Then, go EV! But the Explorer is on that tipping point. However, this rang IS good value, it can be full every morning if you can charge @ home. Better than petrol ... average half tank in the morning.
Love 💕😘 the Ford Explorer EV. It's has a perfect interior and exterior. The dashboard is simple, but effective and eye-catching. The seats and updated and modern especially the front seats. Absolutely perfect exterior design, from the headlights to the taillights, everything is excellent. This is an excellent job by Ford. They really got it right. I just don't like EVs because they catch on fire very easily.
A great review Tish, as always, but all that money for all that nasty plastic - no thanks! If people want to part for over 50k for this spec then fair play to them. It’s a shame to see Ford have been forced down this route, it will be interesting to see how they get on moving forwards.
I doubt if they will sell many new ones at that price. As others have suggested they will lease a load though From a trade publication "Fewer than 25% of new EVs are bought by private buyers". Not surprising when you can lease a new Tesla Model 3 for £405 a month.
@@MrDuncl went round local Ford dealers near me test drives are full and they all said got 10-12 cars on order each, so guessing people are buying them or leasing them. It’s not surprising most EVs are leased as depreciation is crazy we looked at a Kona ev a in a year it lost 15-20k.
@@ScottHawkett I don't know which country you are in but in the U.K. people lease because of the big tax advantages. That in turn explains the massive depreciation. It is probably still cheaper to lease a new EV than to make loan payments on a three year old one.
Explorer ... nah. Maybe call it an Cuga EV? No roof rails. No 17 inch rims (18 might be OK). No heated stearingwheel. Disapointing. On the other hand, 20cm ground clearing is decent, but not sure it has got any extra protection under or in front. Im not looking for an Off Road car, but gravel, muddy and snowy roads is not uncommon here. Root-stubbs and embedded rocks and deep wheel tracks are other common obstacles. Back to the roof mounting options. Expensive proprietary mounts is the only option so far. I fear they wil lead to leaks in the door and scratches in the paint. I want various roof-cargo. Canoe, Bikes, Roof tent, power aggregate, Water barrel, skies and other outdoors life equipement. So I made several instagram names in vain in anticipation....EV
Could be interesting if Ford did listen to buyers and say, hey we will swap out the steering wheel with psychical buttons instead of that haptic feedback. Now that would be nice 😊. Because it can be done.
I like it.. But I plan to buy an EV in 2030. Then my actual car is 10 years old and should around 80.000 km on the speedo.... But maybe I can drive it as a service car from my workshop 😊
Why do all battery cars look like a box on wheels. Car designers need to have a good hard look at themselves and start to design nice looking cars again. Electric means ugly!
Because people complained about the aerodynamic styling of Tesla's cars ? p.s. Has anyone beaten the similarly aerodynamic original Hyundai Ioniq for efficiency ?
Another expensive tub of metal and batteries. Looks naff and the average man will never be able to buy a new one for the extended range (the std range is pretty useless for the money)
@@zzhughesd U.K. Taxation doesn't make sense. I was looking at the Ford Kuga PHEV and paying the extra for an efficient powertrain makes it a "luxury" vehicle so you have to pay extra tax for five years.

Tesla are really still levels above other EV manufacturers, can't keep building EVs like any other ICE, stick a plastic slab on the front and give yourselves a thumbs up.
