    Just seeing this after owning a '24 GT with track pack since Dec. . You guys gave a very respectable review and images my thoughts as well. The '23s gave owners a lot of electrical glitches and thus, gave them bad reviews. My '24 has been of no issue to me. I am getting 30-34 mpg. As you, it makes me smile while driving. Pricing on these are very attractive in California for the hybrid due to the govt rebates. Dodge was offering a lease last month with approx 4K down out of pocket and a payment of approx $225 a month. That was the RT with track plus package, the model is very loaded even 20" wheels Alacantara leather power/heated seats etc. My friend picked one up and for that payment it's amazing!! Must admit, like the vehicle much more than expected.

    @hellkitty1014 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    I think the Hornet is the right vehicle for Dodge. Sure, who doesn't want a Hellcat in their driveway(or 3 like me😂)? But in terms of what buyers are needing right now and the fact that CUVs dominate, they had to do something to resuscitate the brand. Yes, it is pricey but so is a Mazda CX-30/CX-5/CX-50 in comparable trims.
    The R/T may be in fact the way to go because it qualifies for the PHEV tax credit, thus lowering its price against a the GT. And its performance and fuel economy would be superior.

    The cooling system is extremely complicated and cooling lines run from the front engine compartment, all the way back to the rear battery and then all the way back in a loop. Ask any mechanic about how complicated and expensive this vehicle is for any type of repairs. Oh, and this is lol’ble…. All of the clamps throughtout the vehicle are one time usable. If you have to remove a clamp to replace any of the 100’s of hoses, you need a new proprietary clamp. Only dealers will be able to properly service the car.

    • @davidturgeon2087
      @davidturgeon2087 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Dude, you're talking about the Hornet R/T, which is plug-in hybrid. This review is of the Hornet GT +, which is a 2L turbo engine.
      Re. the R/T, of course the cooling lines run back to the battery; how else do you think it can be kept cooled? A cooler battery = more power. There's no reason such a cooling system should be problematic to service, assuming the technician knows what they are doing. Speaking of which, anyone who takes a complex hybrid vehicle to a corner mechanic needs their head read. Only a dealer will have trained and certified technicians to properly service a hybrid vehicle, whatever the make. Duh.

    If you are looking at a Hornet, dont buy it. Way too many issues. I have been waiting for the radar since I bought it, possible ETA of Apr some time. Thought dealership had it fixed with an update, nope. Transmissions shifts very hard going in and out of 2nd gear with it getting into other gears. My Hornet is now at (not the dealership i bought it from) a dealership because the battery dies overnight. Could jump start it because the theft deterant system in it to where I couldnt even hook up a code reader, it says manufactorer has it locked out. The battery died the first time this past Friday morning. I was behind schedule by an hour, once it got jumped that day, the only day it was able to be jumped, some dumbass ran into cones and threw them into my lane and now I have damage to the front end because of it. I have regretted trading in my 2019 Ram Warlock edition. This vehicle is not worth the heartache and after reading the Hornet owners page, sounds like a lot of buybacks are starting to happen.

    • @davidturgeon2087
      @davidturgeon2087 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hint: get the dealer to install a new, fully charged battery and most of your problems will disappear. Like many other new cars with lots of fancy electronic systems, your Hornet needs a fully charged battery to function properly. These cars have a long journey across the Atlantic from the factory, so the batteries become discharged and then start to fail. Your dealer should have checked and replaced the battery before delivery.

    I test-drove the GT Plus a couple of days ago: great acceleration, road feel, and steering. However, the major drawback that will prevent me from buying this car, which had promised to be right up my alley specs-and price-wise, is unbelievably poor ERGONOMIC design. I'm small, and yet, when I raised the seat all the way, which is my must seating position, I felt hemmed in. If you don't like to raise the seat, you'll have a hard time getting out because of the steering wheel sitting too low and being in your way, so you'll have to raise the wheel every time before exiting. Getting out of the car was hard because my behind, despite being skinny, was getting stuck in the vertical ,"sporty" side of the seat, which is meant to envelop your body while you're driving. Also, the combination of the leatherette and plastic material on the seat acted like Velcro during the exit from the car. There's more. When you open the door and try to to get in, you have to be very careful because you might seriously bump your head on the pillar between the driver's side window and the windshield. I've been shopping for and buying cars for decades, but I've never seen such an injury-prone ingress design flaw before.
    This is just another example of how car makers shoot themselves in the foot by not using common sense and doing enough customer research before putting a vehicle on the market.

    • @davidturgeon2087
      @davidturgeon2087 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, I've found that driver ingress and egress is one of the car's major downsides. Through experience I've found that lowering the seat height using the power seat button before exiting helps getting out and back in a lot. Once seated, just use the seat memory button on the door to reset the seat to your preferred driving position. This works well for me.

    Avoid this car because the engine is direct injection, which means the valves will get coated with carbon residue and there is no easy fix for this defect.

      Well you can use a good fuel additive every once and a while. Or you can install an oil catch can, which is a pretty inexpensive fix.

    Hi, Drew and Masan you both look cool in every var review of this Dodge Hornet looking great but I got a little disappointed about the Dodge has used hard plastic inside the cabin we can understand that price-wise dodge has done a good job however I've never seen this 35 thousands price range 2.l turbo inline-four nine-speed automatic transmission making 268 hp 295 pound-feet of torque which is awesome I liked this car a lot dodge spice up this segment than other segments thanks

    Hate it. This is an Alfa Romeo. Dodge was lazy as usual. It’s the same kind of badge engineering crap that made GM look ridiculous in the 80s. I mean, they literally did almost nothing to differentiate.

      @@hellkitty1014 fair enough, but there’s enough to differentiate the jeep from this and the Alfa. I mean, we’re literally talking about different headlights and a bumper. I’m hoping this thing fails because it’s such a half assed exercise in marketing, engineering and faith in the consumer

      @@2steaksandwiches665your point is fair and valid for sure. I think they both deserved a little more differentiation. Alfa has a true racing pedigree, and Dodge is all about brute performance. They should've given both their own identity.
