It’s niche but the market exists. For comparison sake I’ve seen these cost $8000 less than a golf r and pricing is identical to a gti, higher ride height and awd makes it more practical than the gti with more interior space to boot. It’s 0-60 rivals that of a gti, surpasses that of an integra which costs similarly. It’s not beating a kona n in performance but costs the same, has more space, better fuel mileage and power to the back wheels. Like if you dropped 2 inches' ground clearance, the hornet would be almost exactly the same height as an old matrix, and it's only ~2 inches longer than an impreza/crosstrek. it's a lifted hatchback, like most every other small CUV on the market.
My 1st impression was a lifted hatch. I’m actually liking this more & more
Yk what crazy? The title of the video explains your question…
it's like if you added 1,000 pounds of weight to a hot hatch
It looks really good. It's not for me personally but I thought I was going to hate it
Sad to see what Dodge has become. They lost their fight
This isn't even originally a dodge name the hornet was an amc vehicle untill chrysler bought them out and ruined everything
Yes
#SAVETHEMUSCLECARS
They just unveiled a 1025 hp challenger?
@@braveheart9658 it's called a "last call edition"
Yeah bro it's like they're neutering themselves in order to fit in when power is what made them stand out. Mopar done turned into Nopar
Enterprise is gonna love this one
Dodge and Ala Romero are not known for their quality and reliability. Based on the asking MSRP I would recommend purchasing a Toyota, Mazda or Honda.
And wait for Honda and Toyota to disappear in no time courtesy of huge demand and chip shortage and theft.
@@ahsanmalik1013 It’s Kia and Hyundai that is being stolen at a high rate.
Even German cars have better reliability at this point… and that’s saying something 😂 also working in a body shop and seeing a bunch of different cars everyday, new dodges have some of the cheapest plastic in their interior
Definitely interested to see how these fair after a year or so. Maybe best to lease for the first model year, but Dodge has my attention.
Colors! I'm so sick of these black on black on black interiors. Like Sofyan said, some red seats would brighten up that interior so much. The design itself is actually really nice, but the lack of colors is infuriating.
It's a bright gold with red accents in the interior.
All the rental car companies boutta buy all of em
Seeing this is going to make us miss the charger and challenger more.
This and the Banshee are going to be what kills Dodge as a brand..
This thing is absolutely horrible! What a embarrassment!
does it have auto hold ?
Dodge Hornet = Dodge Dart =Dodge Neon
The neon was a great little car. Even the dart had its merit. Both of those were good value. This abomination at 53k is a joke
that's a bit of a reach
@@VanquishedAgain Hahahaha!! The Neon was a great little car? You only say because your cheap ass probably had one or two. They were junk and caught fire daily.

@@kronk9418 it's better than a mustang. 🤣
There’s a Hornet where I work just like this one. It looks pretty cool.
it's not a hot hatch, it's an well marketed econocrossover
Isn’t that what most hot hatches are just econo shit boxes with turbos? So what’s the difference this is an econo shit box crossover with a turbo. Both are quick, both are fun to drive and both are affordable. Don’t get you’re gripe with it.
@@SINE382 because crossovers are functionally inferior versions of hatchbacks and therefore their primary purpose are not spirited driving
@@olivertrees take the hornet for a drive and be surprised. It’s actually fun to blast around in. Got to go demo one the other day gt with track pack. Some of us have to justify our vehicle purchases to a better half so being able to get an suv that’s dare I say it fun to drive is rare, before the only thing that came close was the Mazda cx30 and cx5 (was close to a cx30 but too small) so finally something a little more masculine looking. It’s on the top of my list of cars I’m cross shopping and think it makes a great daily driver that’s gonna be fun to drive but offer enough utility for my small family. Considering the insane prices of the Charger gts right now this makes more sense
@@olivertrees I also doubt anyone buying the hornet is gonna track it but gonna have fun ripping up on ramps and blasting through traffic. I don’t see too many hot hatches track driving and in the real world I don’t see a vehicle like a gti having much of an advantage over the hornet. Not many hot hatches in the market right now either. Now if vw decided to make a gti version of the golf alltrack or if Subaru made a wrx version of the crosstrek then I might put my money down elsewhere.
@@SINE382 it’s only in a world where car manufacturers cater to customers and not to good cars that this car exists and makes sense. Dodge could’ve made a better car by making this a hatchback. Instead, this exists.
O o 2 trims 1 Video , thank yall !!!!! 🙏
The first gen 9 speed was bad enough where it caused me to get rid of my 75th anniversary edition Jeep Cherokee, far sooner than I otherwise would have. It was in the shop every 4 months or so and literally within a week after getting out, it would pop a CEL again. Not sure I can trust any vehicle with that awful transmission, even after Stellantis made changes for a second gen a few years back.
Its the zf transmision what are you talking about
Dodge just needs to make an SRT version of these Hornets with dramatic modification then it will be one hell of a vehicle 💪
I agree get it to 375 to 400 hp reliable and earn that badge I don't care who the main owner is of all the car manufacturers but this looks so COOL😊
I mean, its not what id shop dodge for... but depending on the prices in a few years it seems like a great daily to get from A to B and would stand out a bit
Why does it give me Dart feeling with big off road tires vibe?
Really looking like a rebadged Tonale to me
that's what it is...
@@joellarrysr9977 😅 you right

Why are all manufacturers use a 2.0L engine instead of the bigger engine 2.4L ? This way they can lower the psi's on the turbo and make the engine last little bit longer.
Sadly I think you have your answer lol. I’m just tired of crossover after crossover
From the Challenger/Demon to this…I guess it wasn’t going to last forever. At least it has a gas engine 😂 (EV charging options are garbage here in Canada).
There's no denying it, the military is using jet fuel in all their equipment. I think it's just a matter of time before they take gas and diesel away the public.
0-60 video banner says 5.85 sec (video said 6.5 secs); big difference. Alpha does column-mounted paddles, not wheel-mounted.
I think I'd prefer my cx-30 turbo.
I have a demon challenger 840 hp you fell like trying the real man league car mazda have no chance to reach that league
Just wanted to ask if the mirrors power fold when locking and unlocking the car? Getting this car for myself SOON!!! Im exited for this car.
Wheels and lower suspension is what it needs
Exactly
Agreed. looks weirds without wheels
It comes with wheels. What, do you want literal rubber bands and stancing? 🤮
Direct Connection has already shown the lower parts..... hopefully they come through while the vehicle is still young :D :D
The r/t is lowered
First dodge I've been interested in ever
I can see alot of recall on these Dodge 😂 transmission and airbag recall 💯👍🏾🇨🇦
Electrical problems: "hold my beer".🤣
Man u are stuck 20 years back huh?
They sourced the transmission from ZF so it’s good in that regard:)
Looks Really Cool! Great Review!
I appreciate the unscripted commentary Sofyan, but you repeated yourself 3 times about the sunroof. Be sure to catch yourself on that. Otherwise, wonderful review as always.
Or what, if you say sunroof 3 times bloody Mary appears or?
@@TheDanielStrang Absolutely. No, honestly it's a bad habit in presenting or public speaking. Just constructive criticism.
I don't know, do you want a compact SUV that has 700 electronic bells and whistles, or do you want an AFFORDABLE compact SUV to do what you need to do every day? Paddle shifters? NINE speed transmission? Graphic gauges with different looks? How did we ever function without a computer screen in our vehicles for 100 years? LOL!! Keep the bells and whistles and give me a reasonably priced vehicle without all the fluff and that won't track my every move and how many people I take with me, making ME A PRODUCT.
This will flop within a couple years & will be discontinued. Dodge should just stick with trucks, Charger, & Challenger because those actually sells.
In a couple seconds your comment is what will be a flop😂
Charger and challenger are basically dead. Dodge got bought out by a Dutch company Stellantis. The ceo wears clogs, and wants electrification asap
These little CUV's are what the masses are buying now, and government mandates are requiring auto manufacturers to offer electrification, so this likely wont flop, but it will probably alienate some traditional Dodge fans.
@@romeropostali520 I bet he can make a mean veggie lasagna.
