Love is absolutely enough. If it was enough to have Jesus Christ die, then it is enough to make one care. The problem is people do not understand what love is.

All three points you wisely noted will work eventually if the individuals love each other. The same way a person is willing to die for country, although not void of the knowledge of thieves and murders riddling the same country, one must be diligent to love in marriage, which reflects how far we (humans) are willing to go for something we love. Also, there's no such thing as true love (thank Disney...), it's just love. Love is everything, It forces me to forgive, as a Christian (context filter), I am commanded to love my enemies, and I use every tool (fruit of the Spirit) to do this, not easy, but worth it.
