Congrats on getting the big Beemer going, Mike. I could be wrong, but spraying carb cleaner over the top of a sparking 9 volt battery may not have been your wisest move. At least you lived to tell about it!.
Well Mike I've seen some injection cleaning video's but this one ranks up there with the best, for people who don't have mega bucks you demonstrated a cheap and simple way of testing and cleaning injectors. Well done old chap I'm super impressed but as always Lola stole the limelight 😊😊. Honestly as a bodge goes you are now a professor of bodgemanship 👍👍. Laters chuckles Gary 🇬🇧🇬🇧
Now look for a vacuum leak and what that stray connector goes to. Perhaps a sensor? I’d like to think my comment on cleaning the injectors and replacing the o-rings in the last 540 video was helpful, but you probably already planned on it. That’s going to be a well earned victory lap around the block, my friend!
Hello, my friend, I have a BMW 740 with the same model, and through my knowledge of maintenance matters for this car, I think that you have a vacuum leak at the top of the engine, which leads to irregular engine operation, which confirms this. The sound of strong air suction. When I approached the engine, I heard a very strong hissing sound I think that there is probably a piece of plastic on the back of the engine that needs to be replaced. Thank you for reading my comment. Greetings from the United Arab Emirates ❤❤❤
There you go, Mike. He got Janice up and running. Would love to see another video on that Janice, when you take it around the block, of course keep going on the BMW Mike you got it love to see you the next video keep up the good work and Lola is the star of the show.
I bet the vacuum leak is from the front plate on the intake manifold. there is a plastic mounting plate for the throttle body and it has an orange seal that loves to get brittle with age and causes vacuum leaks, mostly on cold start. there is also a similar seal on the rear of the intake manifold, on the “CCV” cover. also, inside this CCV cover is an orange diaphragm that likes to tear and will cause a vacuum leak (and may even suck oil from the cylinder heads into the intake manifold). if you replace the CCV, you must get an OEM BMW one (~$125), all others do not work properly.
Great job and learned something new. Did you scrub out the fuel rail ? Put a filter right before the fuel rail ? Despite new gas there may be impurities getting out of the tank and into those injectors.
My car is having some type of fuel issue but oddly it only acts up when I am putting gas in the tank any other time it starts up perfectly. I have a 2012 ford focus. Hopefully I will get it straightened out soon.
Great Job Mike!! I have a question, Way back, I thought you had a plan, or idea to flip and trade up until you could get a Bently, what ever happened to that? Love your vids!!
I was doing that… then left the news biz and lost my anchor salary. I hope to return to the flipping up series, but for now my TH-cam $$$ goes to the mortgage… lol
Wow. I'm so glad you brought that BMW back to life. Now you have a really nice BMW to drive that didn't cost you a lot of money
That battery trick will help so much people. And it is so easy to do. Thank you Mike. This is one of your best video's up to date.
Congrats on getting the big Beemer going, Mike. I could be wrong, but spraying carb cleaner over the top of a sparking 9 volt battery may not have been your wisest move. At least you lived to tell about it!.
