  • Today we talk fuel injectors! As part of my rebuild project I had the fuel rail and injectors out so I decided to uninstall them and clean them before reinstall. Below you will find a link to the cleaner I used and be sure to drop any questions you have in the comments below. Thanks for watching!

    Good guide. But remember that if you got a newer car you need to place the injectors where you removed them or reprogram the cars computer.

But saw your method and thought wouldn’t hurt trying it out before spending the 800 bucks they quoted me. Needless to say my car is running and feeling like it’s new again. Don’t those trucks have the injector spider setup that lives inside the intake ? I don’t think you will clean those ones up so simply it involves removing the upper intake, annoying fuel line connection nuts are buried behind the firewall. Those ones I wouldn’t try to clean just buy a new spider and a seal kit as they are upgraded design kits.

    If you remove a new o-ring before cleaning (for some reason even a new o-ring gets slightly torn during cleaning by that white plastic connector, which sprays, so I use a separate o-ring for cleaning, then remove it and put back the original new one) can you put it back? Or once removed the o-ring should be replaced even if it is new? Thank you for a great film.

    • @CycloneCyd
      @CycloneCyd ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@CycloneCyd Yes, I'm sorry, just thought about 2 procedures and described one. See besides that cleaning I also replaced the o-rings on the bottom of course, but they were wrong ones (too thick, I couldn't install w/them into the Intake Manifold. So I removed them and put thinner ones fm/another set. I'll use those removed for cleaning, and asked out of curiosity, could I possibly reuse them. Also could be you installed the o-rings and then decided to clean them, so you remove those new o-rings, clean the injectors and put back those removed. Also there are methods to clean without o-rings, but rather using a clamp. Thank you for the replay.

    Good video Ray. On the injectors, if the spray tip screen is covered with varnish, brown or even black, should it be cleaned or get new ones? They work fine and spray good, but look like crap.

    • @Rythecarguy
      @Rythecarguy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you try soaking a q-tip in cleaner and rubbing the tip? That should clean it up. If that doesn't work you could probably soak them in a shallow tray. Afterward be sure to run cleaner through it to get anything that may have gotten in there out.

    • @CycloneCyd
      @CycloneCyd ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Rythecarguy don't soak injectors in a tray where they lay down. Find something the injectors can 'stand' in (like an aerosol lid or old mug), place the injectors pintle down and put in enough cleaner to cover the pintles only.
      If you soak injectors laying down so the cleaner gets inside, it can damage them (in particular dissolve the coating on the copper wire of the coil causing a short).
