A lot of people who post povs blur the Speedometer at one point or another. No point posting yourself doing something illegal even if only slightly so.
I flipping love people like that 3rd tow-truck driver who took the time to give you some extremely valuable info about what was going on with your car and expecting nothing in return, just wanting to help you out. The world needs more 3rd tow-truck drivers in it 🙌🏼
Some of my favorite content of yours is the vlogs about how you figure out common life obstacles. Your storytelling narrative is really interesting. Glad you got your car fixed. It sounds fun to drive.
love how that tow truck driver was so helpful and cared enough to show you how things run etc. not enough folks are that genuine or kind these days. made my heart so happy 😊
So the first guy was charging $2000, which was way too much, but the second guy was only charging $1400 plus the $600 you spent buying the clutch yourself. What a savings!
The potential for that shop doing a half ass job and possibly not even fixing the original issue is very high. Considering they wanted to replace your alternator I think whatever you paid was completely worth it
So glad you got it working! I bought my daughter a WRX…such a fun car! She didn’t know how to drive a clutch either but learned pretty fast. She now had the exhaust changed so it’s more loud and had the windows darkened. Love these cars!
Also just had a year long nightmare with a VW GTI that happens to be red. Shop out of state screwing us over etc. Ended up with an engine replacement after a couple more breakdowns. Congrats on getting it running again!
If you ever find yourself around Knoxville TN, ive got a shop and lift you can use, also always happy to help out, wrenching on cool cars is just fun to me
What extra? You can hear the pulley with the blown bearing, the clutch was blown, and the slave was definitely bad, hence the pedal on the floor. 3 grand was a totally reasonable quote for that work too.
I really wanted a BRZ/86/FRS. After looking into it I saw all sorts of issues people were having with them and decided not to buy one. The main thing that made me decide not to get one was finding out that turning hard in one direction deprives the engine of oil and destroys the engine. Imagine.
Don't let this deter you, they're awesome cars. If you're not going on a race track, you won't have the oil pressure problem. It only happens under extreme lateral g-force load with low oil levels, which you won't ever experience on the street unless you're not properly maintaining the car and looking to get a reckless driving ticket. 😅
I dont know if you missed it but when you replaced your slave cylinder it looks like you forgot your lower crush washer on your banjo bolt fitting. Youll want to check to make sure you didnt forget it and if you did replace both washers and re bleed and she should be mint! If you are missing it it can cause a future leak and possible clutch issues.
In my roughly 15 years or so of owning (only manual) cars, I've never encountered a mechanic that said I couldn't use my own parts that I bought. That's weird and a little sus to me, but YMMV. It's also been much cheaper to buy them myself, than to have the shop do it for me.
oh interesting, could it just be a clutch thing? i contacted 4 shops and they refused to use mine, so I'll be curious to see if i can get them to use other parts in the future
@@GoHerping In my opinion, it shouldn't have made a difference, but I've never had to have a clutch replaced. If they're part of a chain, I would see if they have any affiliates they order parts from. That's the only reason I can think of for why they wouldn't use your parts.
@@user-mn9wq5km4l I've never went to a dealer, and had shops deny using any fluids I had because they didn't know if they were previously opened or tampered with.
ah the joys of owning a used car. The last owner didn't know anything or simply didn't care or most likely lied and then lied some more and the clown wanted top dollar. The saddest part is it's not likely poor quality on Subaru's part, but the abuse from the three previous owners. I'd rather finance a new car with a 3+ year warranty than get fleeced by local mechanics.
Great car with a fresh driver is always fun. To any new drivers. Go get yourself a jack and jack stands. Buy yourself a generic tool box and expect to start a collection of harbor freight tools. Trust me that’s how a lot of car people learned and it’s how I learned on my 30 year old BMW. Don’t get used to throwing money at problems when you’re fully capable of learning it yourself. A clutch job is understandable but anything doesn’t require you dropping the Trans or motor you can do by yourself. One more thing. SUSPENSION BEFORE WHEELS. Also please for the love of God don’t rice your cars.
My brother has the same car and loves it, it's a few years old I think, someone mishandled this one it seems lol my brother burned his clutch learning to drive it (his first car)
Learning experience. research parts, research shops, and definitely don't buy an 11 year old used car with a manual transmission if you don't even know how to drive it. That being said, I wish you the best of luck.
Did you know the Tesla will drive itself back to sender if you can't make regular payments on time anymore? Even if the battery is dead there's always enough reserve that you can't use but it's there only for the car to drive itself back to sender lol 😔.
It's so stupid to me that manual isn't taught as standard in USA. Manual is standard in UK, and I love mine. I have no interest in automatics or modern cars that lack the analogue buttons. Should watch UK driving instructor channels on clutch control.
dude it's literally the second video i watch of your channel, and man you gotta stop down grading your car XD i mean ik you don't mean it and you still have to learn, and im really happy for you to go and do some try and error as we all should in our life, but i find it so funny, 2 videos where you repaired the car, and in both you downgraded it XD
I was going between a 350z, genesis coupe and ft86 but people kept saying I should go miata. I'm sure it would've been a great pick but just hate how they look lolol. I'd be very curious to drive one if I get the opportunity though
@@GoHerping What they lack in looks they make up for in handling and smiles per gallon. There's a reason why the creator of Koenigsegg daily drives a miata.

Right! The last tow I got was with a knowledgeable tow driver who gave me tons of info 🙏🏻
tow drivers are always the most chill guys too

lolol. i think it was about 2200 after tax, so I saved about $250 in total (not including the extra tow and hassle...)

Wow, sounds like a challenging journey with your clutch! Kudos for your perseverance.
❤ Congratulations on fixing the Subaru!
the clouds passing in the reflection of the windshield is pretty

Gonna check it out tomorrow hell yeahhhhhh lol hope you’ve been well man
enjoyed this one and the last! cool car! cant wait to see what u do with it.

Great job, you are doing great!
Love the vids man can't wait to see what 2024 has in store. God bless
This was incredibly entertaining. I think many of us have been here ourselves, with a dream car that ruins our economy.

I don’t understand any of this video because I don’t know anything about cars but I’m glad you got it working 🚗
So what you're saying is it ended up costing the exact same as it would have if you'd just had it repaired in the first place? 😂
Excited for these new vids!
thanks! more otw
Honestly, you may be the first person who actually got a correct diagnosis for your car from a mechanic and you ignored them😂😂😂😂😂
Kinda. All the extra though?

I’m learning so much

Got to love nc tow truck drivers. Many are nice and got info to share.
I had the 2014 scion FRS, technically the same car. It was fun to drive and glided like butter on curves. Miss that car

I've had independent shops not mind using parts or fluid that I bring along, a dealer's answer is usually "no"
