The mad tiger storyline is yet another example of the chapter 2 theme: one second of thought can lead to good or evil (善恶一念间). The mad tiger wanted to help the kid, but ended up asking the father to lure village people to the well and eat them. Same with the rat sage, tiger vanguard, and the man who killed the fox. They all wanted to do good at some point, but greed/fear led them to a different path.
Also, the voice at the end asks whether you agree that this is because humans, yaoguai, buddhas, etc all have to act according to their nature... This is the belief of the Celestial Court, but the truth is different. Just one small decision could have led to a different path. Like being there to help the Rat Sage in the Kingdom of Gold. A dead Monkey led him astray with the temptation of power, but a living Monkey helped resolve his lingering obsession. This happens again in Chapter 4 with the Fourth Sister, who helps us over and over... But if we free her from the heavens' seal, she gets captured by the Crane because Heaven sees yaoguai as nothing more than ingredients for golden pills. For tip #1 Just beating the game and defeating the Loongs isn't enough. You also need to discover and complete every secret area from Chapter 1 through Chapter 5. If you miss any secret area, like I did with the fifth one, nothing will happen when you go to that area
Yeah you don’t even have to have fought the final boss. Or all of the Loongs (only the ones that are associated with the secret areas). Just complete all the secret areas like you said, the treasure hunter side quest in ch 3, and have collected the legendary armor set and staff in chapter 6. 15:08 the horse bro you encountered along the way since Act 1 disabled that cart and sacrificed his life for it. His soul was trapped by the Keeper of the Flaming Mountain (remember fighting a horse with a whip during that fight?). After defeating the Keeper you can go back and claim his transformation.
You don’t need to beat the final boss to fight erlang or fight the four loongs. You just need to finish the secret areas in chapters 1-5 and finish chapter 5. As soon as u start chapter 6 you can go straight to erlang. There’s a reason why each guy that gives you access to all the secret areas in each chapter say,”brother” in some shape or form. They are referring to erlang who all test you .
Chapter 3 doesn't have a secret area just a secret quest... Do all the areas and quest go too great Pagoda fight Erlang then go back to chapter six and fight wukong to get secret ending (Sidenote) I would get wukong armor and staff in chapter 6 before fighting Erlang
Before I even watch it, thank you so much for formatting the spoilers in chronological order and explaining that in the very beginning!! I'm only in Chapter 4 (taking my sweet time with it) and I really appreciate when I click a video that I'm not going to be blasted by end game content out the gate. Thank you for that so much!!!
In Chapter 4, to beat the yellow dragon, just equip Pilgrim armor set, and focus on using smash stance. 1. Charge it to full run towards and attack. 2. Run away to draw some distance then charge it up again. He got only one long range attack and rather easy to dodge. I also bring Visionary centipede staff in.. practically cheesing him throughout. Also in No. 6, when you first fight old cocoon, when he comes out from the cocoon, freeze him and run to the back of him and hit him. breaking his extra arms will reward you too. If you've missed it in the first fight, you can still do it in the second fight before entering purple cloud mountain.
Can confirm the second fight, he only has 2 extra arms. First fight or ng+, unfortunately. I just tried to get the armguards on the second encounter, and couldn't get them.
Just a little correction here. To get the Boss Mad Tiger to appear you do not necessarily have to do it in the that specific order mentioned in the video. I did the the drum thing first in the area past the big stone door, then the area in Wind West Hamlet and the last place was the sand gate village near the well. Which I guess you will have to do last as you need to jump down there to find the boss. Otherwise very nice video 😊
That's great thanks! You can actually get the secret ending before defeating the regular final boss, I think you just need the full shiny armor. And yes, Erlang was a looot of BS for me: Shield health bar, plus three phases, plus the additional semi-scripted after fights haha
One of the best games I've every played. Somewhat buggy though and there are some quests you can easily get locked out of, I recommend doing some serious research so you aren't locked out of anything
The Yin Tiger transformation is the best in the game, block until you can use the spell, then spam light attacks and it stun locks most things until your might runs out
This game truly took me back to that era of the 90's where you can just buy a game with no guide, no anything and you end up discovering so much stuff and having that insane and satisfying feeling of discovering on a new world
@@tootingkaboomsgaminghes talking about 90s single player console games. Even if he hasnt played er he would of heard abt it thanks to fanboys like u.
To get the true ending, you need to beat Er Long (secret final boss in the Great Pagoda), before beating the final boss (The Great Sage's Broken Shell.) You need this to retain Wu Kong's memories and spirit to rebel from being bound again. Else you get bound by the crown/ headband thingy the old monkey gives you, which is generally considered as a silent 'not so great ending.'

@@gameranxTV not yet. Exploring and admiring every nook and cranny in this superb game. Videos like this make it even better. Thank you for the content.
Some notes on the secret ending. 1. It's possible to defeat Earlang before the final Wukong fight, once you reach the heart of the birthstone, use keepers shrine over there to travel to the great pagoda, there, you can unlock the path to Earlang and beat him, making you proceed to the final boss thereafter. 2. You don't need to beat the 4 loongs to unlock the secret ending, instead focus on beating the secret areas of all chapters 1,2,4 and 5, which then unlocks the secret area of chapter 3, Mount Mei, where you fight Earlang. 3. You absolutely will need to complete the treasure hunter side quest in chapter 3 to unlock the secret ending, that also unlocks an additional spell, spell binder, really helped with defeating some of the other bosses down the line, like Bishui beast and Earlang. Kinda justified keeping the secret spell for the secret boss in my case.
For #9, the backstory is that the mad tiger yaoguai was wounded and hid in a well after his brother the "tigers vanguard" betrayed him and sided with the yellow wind sage. The wounded tiger tricked a dad of the spirit you hear in the sidequest. The dad's son was sick and the mad tiger told the dad that if he tricked the villagers to go down the well and help feed the tiger, then the mad tiger yaoguai would heal his son. The dad was desperate and agreed, trickong multiple local vilagers into going down the well to be food for the tiger. Eventually the villagers found out and killed the son(spirit that you hear) as revenge on the father that tricked them. In his anger, the dad killed all the villagers, and in his madness and grief was left to wander the desert purposelessly as the "tiger's acolyte"
Hell yh lets go! Thank you for this video Gameranx!!! Im currently in chpter 4 and Im enjoying this game a lot!!! Will save this video for as and when i progress to not miss out because Ive already missed a looot of stuffs in chapter 2 haha amazing how many areas we could miss out on !!
Huh, was a bit surprised the Spell Binder skill wasn't added on the list. Spell Binder is an optional spell slot that takes up the left skill slot. Obtained in Chapter 3 significantly boosts your attack, if fully upgraded, you don't have to worry about Stamina. Comes with high cost of no spells, transformations or relic assistance.
This game answered so many of my prayers!! I love this gane and i cant put the remote down. Im at 68% on trophies!! Gunning for platinum!!! I love this game, story, secrets, armors, the seeds and curios are annoying 😂 but i still love this game. On ng+ and still having a blast!!
Fact: You can reach erlang before defeating the final boss too. After reaching chapter 6, just go back to the grand pagoda (or whatever it's name was) and you can travel to erlang's place :)
Mind Cores. So for a while you may find these but not have a use for them readily. Eventually you unlock an NPC who can use them to craft pills, the same ones that boost your primary stats. Only he can make them for Defense, Maximum Mana, and Stamina Recovery too. My advice if you're struggling is to do Defense first. You're allowed 18 upgrades per category. Mind Cores are farmable but it's not a guaranteed thing so it may take time but for me it worth doing. The big guys with shields can drop them and so can the snake warriors in the forest, not the skeletal versions. They're annoying and useless.
For people who haven't noticed, all the five mid-bosses giving you the secret areas talk about them being sent by some big brother guy on a mission. They are referring to the same certain individual.
I lost access to the scorpion king fight because i went for the dusk born first and he actually got into the fight to help me!! Didn't know that interaction existed, got locked out of his fight and items though.
I found the drum and well one by chance and honestly after that I really began going ham looking around each chapter but still missed 4 of these time for another playthrough XD
There is one more secret very hard to find... there are 5 bosses in total that are not shown in the journal and you trigger them by gathering plants in certain areas of the game (they are all hidden paths). It will give you an achievement after beating all of them.
Fun fact, you can beat yellow loong with just the thrust stance keep your distance and charge up your focus in thrust stance and hit him he wont do any combo’s unless you get close to him but he will do his basic attacks that you can easily dodge
The tigers acolyte was the only boss that could kick me of the map. Idk how he did it, bc I tried jumping of that brigde and there is a invisible wall there but while fighting him he knocked me back and off the bridge. The funniest thing was the loading screen info for "how to handle fall damage" right after dying to this 😂
2:15 I didn't know this was another boss, I legit used the rock to cheese the original boss by keeping it between us as he hits it and it cancels his combos and stuns him for a few seconds lol
In fact Journal is so important that most of this hidden content is implied in Journal with a Interesting or tragic story. But i'm not sure about the quality of English localization in the game, as a chinese and novel enjoyer the journal content is worth 15$ at least.
Erlang is a lot easier if you use the Plantain Fan from the Princess Iron Fan at the end of chapter 5. It'll break down his shield in all phases and give you time to charge up heavy attacks.
Since u covered chapter 5 and how to access the secret area u could have also mentioned that the steel ball that u had to deal with, and eventually fight in the secret area, has a spirit that u can acquire if u check where it landed 👍 Some ppl may not realize or go back to check that
Fun fact: you don’t actually have to get the rattle drum encounters in order. I did the second one, third one, then first one and still got the secret boss to trigger.
A little thing, you said the needle cant prevent the new moveset, but it can. If you wait with the needle untill he swallowed his Sword you will stagger him out of both and get him back to normal. At least it was for me like that
For the horse bro, talking to him will reveal that he would want his spirit to be freed or something like that. Defeat the Ch. 5 keeper where the horse guy's spirit appears, and talk to him again. You get his whip and the spell to transform into him.
Should point out the cracked wall in start of the loong brothers secret isn't accessible right away. You need to either get the boss in that area to charge at the wall to break it open OR use a large spirit to smash it open yourself. I ended up coming back with the giant ball boss spirit from Chapter 5, but I'm sure there are others (one guide recommended the Wandering Wight from Chapter 1 but I missed that one and it disappears after you beat the secret area boss)
For those who meet the NPC Daoist Mi, in the secret area Purple Mountain in chapter 4, DO NOT beat the final boss (The Duskveil) if you want to complete his quest.(find Violet Hail off yellow robed enemies). If you do, he will leave and no longer be available
As far as i am aware, for tip #2, it is actually Chinese mythology. It is believed that a tiger can enslave the souls of his victims and use them to lure in more victims. I am not sure if this applies to all tigers or only some special ones though.
You could have added the wandering Wight stumbling against the pillars on chapter 1, or using jump plus heavy attack to reach taller places, or the fight between the stone vanguard and the other one on chapter 2, those are fun facts
i think there is going to be a DLC. many said that Erlang is actual a masquerade. Erlang is a Taoist, and Taoist dont wear Buddha face on the chest. This is the Si Tuo Ling chapter.
I'm at chapter 4 and I THOUGHT I HAD DID SOME SHIT CUZ I "found some secrets"...THOUGHT I WAS SPECIAL....BRO had I not seen this I would have MISSED ALMOST ALL OF THESE. TY SO MUCH!
so number 1. you need to fight Erlan 1st before you enter the stone monkey mind. reason to that is when you defeat the stone monkey 1st, you become wukong and you carry his curse (the golden headband thing). if you fight Erlan 1st, then fight the stone monkey 2nd, a different cut scene will show (coz fighting Erlan gives you back Wukong's memory). the curse will be lifted and the story will continue to a somehow different path
You can just go back and beat the stone monkey again. Hit continue instead of new game plus, go beat Erlang, and then fight the stone monkey a second time.
One thing that they could have said when talking about the venom daoist is that when you first meet him you should hit him from behind to cut 4 of his arms. Doing that will reward you with a armor piece that is needed for the platinum of the game.
For the venom daoist in chapter 4, during the first fight if you break 4 arms off his back you get an arm slot armor called "Venom Armguards" which does more damage to enemies when you are poisoned or something to that effect
this game is filled top the brim and overflowing with secret areas and bosses that there is a zero percent chance you find naturally on your play through. probably more than not you have to look up guides and youtube videos of the area after you THINK youre done with it and about to go to next chapter. then you realize that you found 4 bosses and 7 areas in the chapter but theres actually 27 secret bosses and 76 secret areas... and im torn on how i feel about that fact.. Half of me has always hated when they make something impossible to find because i dont play games by looking at guides and videos. i play games, especially open world games or semi open world by exploring every nook and cranny. My feet touch the dirt on every path and around every corner. thats how i WANT to play teh game. i LIKE exploring and looking for secret items and places... But this game takes it to another level.. They have plenty of stuff you WILL find by exploring but there is SOOOOOOOO much you will never figure out naturally even with 100 playthroughjs.. which makes me hate it.. on the other hand i love the fact tyhat even after you go beat an area or the whole game naturally and youre left with that urge to play the game you just finished so you debate playing again on NG+, i LOVE wukong for the fact that youll be discovering new content for the next 10 playthroughs..
I bought it yesterday excited to play it tonight
0:20 That lo-fi goes hard!
The Yin Tiger transformation is the best in the game, block until you can use the spell, then spam light attacks and it stun locks most things until your might runs out
just transform with full focus and youre already set
Stone monkey is the best yin tiger is third in terms of damage output right after golden lining
@@Captain_Ahab_96 I personally find hoarfrost the most fun for me.
Had to like because of "gandang"😂. You got me cracking up in McDonald's Falcon gandang you😂.
Massive W on the ample spoiler warnings
This game truly took me back to that era of the 90's where you can just buy a game with no guide, no anything and you end up discovering so much stuff and having that insane and satisfying feeling of discovering on a new world
Yup, many still discovering new infos and tips too, like some enemies actually have a rare drop rates of a powerful equipment
Facts
It's like 90s passion for making a good game with modern graphics and quality of life designed in.
I take it you haven't played elden ring?
@@tootingkaboomsgaminghes talking about 90s single player console games. Even if he hasnt played er he would of heard abt it thanks to fanboys like u.
10:38 if you don’t defeat the scorpion boss, when you challenge the end boss of the secret area he will also help you in the fight
This definitely has the potential to be GOTY
perhaps, not because look so sekiro game.
Between this or rebirth forsure
@@topsu9868other than the eastern aesthetics I see no relevance between them, even the aesthetics are originated from china, japan sent students back then to learn all that, they then added their own colours and features is all, if you meant they presented it first in games, thats true, because japan after ww2 has been developing cultural dissemination and china was stuck in commie turmoil
@@topsu9868how is this game even slightly related to sekiro?
@topsu9868 You're one of those clowns who are comparing this game to Elden Ring...

Black Myth: Wukong never stops to amaze me.
Nice! Have you finished the game yet?
@@gameranxTV not yet. Exploring and admiring every nook and cranny in this superb game. Videos like this make it even better. Thank you for the content.
This game inspired me to go back and read the source material, Journey to the West!
you always show us the best stuff about the games we love
Every1 knos about spellbinder alreasy
This game answered so many of my prayers!! I love this gane and i cant put the remote down. Im at 68% on trophies!! Gunning for platinum!!! I love this game, story, secrets, armors, the seeds and curios are annoying 😂 but i still love this game. On ng+ and still having a blast!!
Wow this game looks sooooo beautiful! 😲 Too bad I'm not into this type of game.
Fact: You can reach erlang before defeating the final boss too. After reaching chapter 6, just go back to the grand pagoda (or whatever it's name was) and you can travel to erlang's place :)
Love this game! It is such a breath of fresh air with all of the other crap coming out as of late. Thanks for the info! It will go to good use.
Glad we were able to provide some helpful info! What else is on your radar this second half of the year?
The five skandhas pill buffs up all stats, that includes attack, defense, etc by like 20 points.
And of course, you get to meet that big brother after finishing them all...
Jake made my day giving army of two its flowers. We need a remaster
The truth is that the story and the mehanisms and the hidden stuff are so refreshing after all these years with the parry/guard system
I lost access to the scorpion king fight because i went for the dusk born first and he actually got into the fight to help me!! Didn't know that interaction existed, got locked out of his fight and items though.
That's why I love u guys. The spoilers alerts. Thank u. I'm gonna come back here. When I finish the game.
I found the drum and well one by chance and honestly after that I really began going ham looking around each chapter but still missed 4 of these time for another playthrough XD
I still gotta play this game it looks so cool
0:40 pretty based. more of this please. thanks!
Just spent 74 hours on my first play through and went straight to new game plus lol. My wife is gonna be pissed
GANDANG!
Loved the rant about little kids 😂😂😂
The tigers acolyte was the only boss that could kick me of the map. Idk how he did it, bc I tried jumping of that brigde and there is a invisible wall there but while fighting him he knocked me back and off the bridge.
The funniest thing was the loading screen info for "how to handle fall damage" right after dying to this 😂
Thanks Falcon. I missed a few of these.
This is game is utterly phenomenal.
It's not perfect but it mostly preserves the meaning, and is still written well.
Erlang is a lot easier if you use the Plantain Fan from the Princess Iron Fan at the end of chapter 5. It'll break down his shield in all phases and give you time to charge up heavy attacks.
Such a deep game man despite being a more linear experience. I’m so impressed!
For sure! Have you finished the game?
@@gameranxTV YES, but i missed a TON of these lol. I feel like I havent played half the game lol. Thanks guys
You can find the hint of rattle-drum in the beastiary story of the acolyte.
Also you can go straight to Er Lang as soon as you reach chapter 6.
Gameranx just dont miss👑🦅🦅
You think there will be a sequel or dlc for this ?
Good thing I wasn't planning on getting this game, even tho it looks 🔥🔥. Thanks gameranx😂😂
Since u covered chapter 5 and how to access the secret area u could have also mentioned that the steel ball that u had to deal with, and eventually fight in the secret area, has a spirit that u can acquire if u check where it landed 👍 Some ppl may not realize or go back to check that
Especially with all these secrets, this game is DEFINITELY worth the money.
Thought I knew it all, but didn’t know about the little spirit you can grow
The Blacksmith transformation reward is the thing that help me finish the game, best ever.
ty for all the awesome videos!!
Hey thank you for watching! :)
5:25 to beat the mad tiger used a lot of damage reduction potion and have it in your drink.
Not sure how anyone can miss this stuff. It's like do you not explore?
Fun fact: you don’t actually have to get the rattle drum encounters in order. I did the second one, third one, then first one and still got the secret boss to trigger.
I did all of that in my first playthrough, half from exploring and half from reading the guide
A little thing, you said the needle cant prevent the new moveset, but it can. If you wait with the needle untill he swallowed his Sword you will stagger him out of both and get him back to normal. At least it was for me like that
Im on the last boss before you know.... Im just here because i love the content.
For the horse bro, talking to him will reveal that he would want his spirit to be freed or something like that. Defeat the Ch. 5 keeper where the horse guy's spirit appears, and talk to him again. You get his whip and the spell to transform into him.
Falcon did the eyeball gag at Halloween for sure😂
9:30 Tip to save time if you're going to plat/100% the game. Break his 4 arms before killing him for his armour piece.
This game was definitely worth the 5 year wait, already on my second ng+ playthrough (third playthrough technically)
Nice I’m glad you’re enjoying it :D
8:55 Neat how he *took off* inna Ring :o
I'm at chapter 4 and I THOUGHT I HAD DID SOME SHIT CUZ I "found some secrets"...THOUGHT I WAS SPECIAL....BRO had I not seen this I would have MISSED ALMOST ALL OF THESE. TY SO MUCH!
Was that a Ginsengling trying to help with Shigandang? Go get 'im buddy!
so number 1. you need to fight Erlan 1st before you enter the stone monkey mind. reason to that is when you defeat the stone monkey 1st, you become wukong and you carry his curse (the golden headband thing). if you fight Erlan 1st, then fight the stone monkey 2nd, a different cut scene will show (coz fighting Erlan gives you back Wukong's memory). the curse will be lifted and the story will continue to a somehow different path
You can just go back and beat the stone monkey again. Hit continue instead of new game plus, go beat Erlang, and then fight the stone monkey a second time.
@@FelisImpurrator that works too!
No, it makes crits inflict poison bane. Which is better with the NG+ mythical insect staff and its insane 25% crit chance.
this game is filled top the brim and overflowing with secret areas and bosses that there is a zero percent chance you find naturally on your play through. probably more than not you have to look up guides and youtube videos of the area after you THINK youre done with it and about to go to next chapter. then you realize that you found 4 bosses and 7 areas in the chapter but theres actually 27 secret bosses and 76 secret areas...
and im torn on how i feel about that fact..
Which makes me love it..
Awesome, as always. Your tone on 2 was off. Remember, you can hear attitude and smiles. It's all really aerodynamics. I just thought I'd remind you. Happy Nesting 😜
Thanks for watching! :)
Erlang is up there with Sword Saint Isshin. By the way, you don't have to beat the final boss to fight him. I went there as soon as I started chapter 6. I did all of the Loong fights and all of the secret area bosses.
Congrats on 8 million peeps!!
Hey thank you! Hope you’re enjoying the latest videos :D
